Hi everyone. I just bought my Typhoon H RS yesterday. So I´m as new to this as can be. The info here is just supergreat... Patrick, you realy show what you can do with this drone if you get the right info on how to use it. You realy inspire me to do a lot of flying with my Typhoon H. Thanks for your great work. See you soon...
This is in my opinion one of the most useful videos so far for me on the Typhoon H. I have just made all the settings itemised in the video and can't wait to get out there to test it. I made similar changes years ago to my RC helicopter controller so I saw the value in these edits. Great stuff!
Just purchased my new H and ALL of Patrick’s Videos are awesome. I HIGHLY recommend anyone at any skill level to atleast give them a view. Beyond that, Patrick also is beyond helpful and does an incredible job with not only his videos but even responded to peoples questions. True professional & wealth of knowledge! I am truly greatful that I found his videos and can’t wait for more. Thank you very much Patrick awesome video’s! You don’t get much better then that.
Kinda late to the party, as they say, but I just bought a Typhoon h, and haven’t flown it yet, but this entire series has been simply, AWESOME! Thank you for sharing all this fantastic knowledge! Looking forward to getting this into the air!
Thanks for this video mate really badly needed. It would be great if you could do an indepth video showing the inputs for different channels and the advantages and disadvantages of doing same. Relatively new to flying the Typhoon H but loving it.
Great video. Just got a Typhoon H and I love it. Had issues with the controls like you described. Been flying a p3s for 5 years. Think I'll be watching more of your videos.
@@buelle109 Patrick how are you ? I was watching your video on setting up the Rate curves. I set all values just like you suggested Can you please tell me which adjustments to make to even slow it down a little more from the get-go. Thanks. Keith
I just had my first flight with my H. I was noticing this exact issue and saying to myself "This isn't going to be good for smooth video." I will be performing this curve adjustment. I am glad I remembered watching your video during my research. Thank you for posting!
Ok, sorted, for some reason the screen, when thrust was selected to adjust broken line option, 4 icons (J1 JJ3 J4 & B1) were lit up..by selecting each in turn deactivated the false ones, now all is happy..I'm new to this so its a big learning curve, thanks again, good videos.
I just bought an H3, my first Yuneec, and have been enjoying the series. Very informative. I don’t know if this is still being monitored, but do you know if the H3 has the same flight characteristics, and should be adjusted with the same numbers?
I would also like to know about the sunshade setup ans neck strap you have. Other than that thanks for the info. I have adjusted mine and will test it in the next good weather we get. Been raining and windy the last 48 hours.
Hello, Buelle, This is a great video. Can you address why NONE of my T-H's fly straight. Pushing R stick FWD(J3) results in about 10 degree left offset. R stick(J3) AFT is left offset appox 10 degrees. Orientation is A/C facing FWD(away from operator). In an aircraft, we have rudder trim to offset P-factor. What do we have in the T-H's??? Home office not helpful. Checked "hardware monitor" and all is as it should be, with only one input registering at a time.Personal or video response welcome to all.
@Patrick H o l y ! I see this video was made 5 yrs ago, well my H could use some fine tuning so I’m eager to make these adjustments. After reading many comments here I will first make sure my joystick(s) reach 100%! I do have a question though, this might seem odd, maybe not. I’m finding the H takes forever to descend, is it possible to change that rate curve allowing for a speedier descent? Right now it takes 10 seconds to descend 100’. I find that terribly terribly slow.
Hello Patrick, Just watch my first two of your videos. Well put together and presented. Off question. He you by any chance figured out how to program the AUX button to Turn-On the GPS. I fly sometimes with the GPS OFF to practice ATTI flying. But it requires you to go into a sub menu to turn if back on. If you have an emergency this is not a good way to have to deal with it. Programming the AUX to turn it back on would be a great safety feature. Thanks
As of now there is no known way to assign GPS on/off to the Aux switch. A lot of Typhoon operators (myself included) would love to see this feature incorporated into a future Firmware Update. Hopefully Yuneec will get the message. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Patrick. Its been two years, you would think they would have used it for something by now. Especially with all the requests to do so. Always wondered what their original plans were for the AUX.
Thanks for the video Buelle109, this is great for a starting point but after setting the drone up with these settings I'm still encountering the jerky startup. Which number should I start with to slow down the jerkiness with stick input? This only happens at the initial start of the motion. Should I increase the value closer to the center towards 0 on the X axis or the Y axis?
One of the drawbacks of the Typhoon H flight software is this very abrupt reaction from hover to movement. These curves help smooth this out but they cannot eliminate it completely. This is one of the downsides of the standard Typhoon H. Later models such as the 520, H Plus and now H3 all have a much better flight control software and this has been eliminated in those platforms.
HELLO PATRICK WOULD YOU PLEASE ADVISE ME. I ADJUSTED THE CURVES AS YOU SAID. WHEN I TOOK IT FOR A TEST RUN, SOMETHING WEIRD HAPPENED.. Great informative vid. I have gone through following your tutorial & now find that adjusting Thr for a slow start, broken line, the Thr looks ok on set up screen with normal left joy stick as in properties, but when hitting return it has gone to Ele..what am I missing..? thanks..
David, without seeing the exact steps its hard to say, are saying the throttle is controlling the elevator? If so you have added a channel mix and may need to reset the ST16 to factory settings but I am not sure as I have never seen this. perhaps pose this question with pics on the forum? Good Luck.
Everything now sweet, I called Yuneec & seems the whole set up of ST 16 was way off, they talked me through & now its great, fabulous 1 to 1 service, rare these days, good product excellent after sales. Thank you for very informative videos.
Have enjoyed all your videos. I am new to the H coming from a SOLO & Pixhawk FC background. I did make the adjustments as shown in this video but still don't like the twitchiness (not a real word) of the H. Would you have any other suggestions for smoothing out the initial twitch when moving right or left. Thanks
Dave, unfortunately the standard H will need to be fixed in the programming if that is possible. Most of us have learned to live with this behavior and I, like you came from different aircraft that did not fly like this. One of the tricks if you need to start off smoothly is try beginning to descend slightly then add the necessary movement. There is one bit of good new regarding the new H Plus - it uses a better flight controller and these habits are gone in the new aircraft. I have a new video coming shortly.
after changing the values and saving them, I check the sliding scale for changes only to note It omly shows 60% (my #2 and 9 points setting) as max value. any idea of why Im not getting 100%
Hey Patrick, I've been watching your videos on the Typhoon H which I just got yes very late in the game. I have been searching everywhere for info on expo/rate/curves for all four functions for I have changed all four and I'm not new to drones. Seems that you can increase the rate to 150% but I am very hesitant to do so not knowing how much is too much. I noticed after setting rate curves as mentioned the final output shows that the sticks are only moving to about 80% at full throw. I fly in manual mode which steps things up but I believe it's still a bit sluggish although it flies amazing! Do you have any info on just how far you can crank up the throws before it's a problem? I would think it could handle the full 150% but some flight controllers need a certain% as a buffer for motor differential to make controlling it possible. I really hope you see this for you so far are the only one that had any info on setting end points for expo/rate/curves. Thank you in advance for any input you may have! Have a great weekend! Mike.
Mike, I have never pushed the rates up that high so I can only say you should do so in increments and test everything slowly. One thing to keep in mind is that the ST16 has been known to get oxidation on the stick potentiometers which can cause erratic behavior. One thing you want to check often is the Hardware monitor and make sure when you push a stick to it's limit the corresponding signal shows 100% of it's movement. If you get a bad stick reading anything done to rates will also be problematic. I have had to clean my sticks three times on my H Plus but never on my Typhoon. Good luck.
@@buelle109 Thank you so much for responding and your information I could see how that would present a problem did you use a spray to clean them? I have checked the monitor and all seems well but it does display some erratic behavior at time but only with gps on, in manual mode it flies amazing! Thanks again!
Hey Mike, I was curious if you adjusted your YAW as well. I noticed when I use left or right it seems like a very long time before it starts turning. Did you set the same values for yaw as for the right stick? I would like the “throttle/yaw” stick to be more responsive.
@@atglennite01 Honestly I would have to check but I believe I did turn it up to match the others. Does it do that in rabbit mode as well? Honestly to me the only time it flies like a normal drone is in manual mode with gps off and some people have had flyaways doing that.
So far mine hasn’t had a fly away but I have heard horror stories about it. Yeah the yaw seems to lack responsiveness in all throttle speeds for me. I changed my settings this morning for the yaw. I’ll do a test later today when the rain stops.
Does this also stop that jerky movement that you displayed in the beginning of the vid when you want to just slightly move forward/back or left/right? I was hoping you would show that at the end.
I don't have a Q-500 so I do not know -1] if you can change the setting of the 500 or 2] if it is even necesarry. My understanding is that the Q-500 is a smooth flyer
Thank you for your reply, Patrick! The Q500 is a very smooth flyer. But I have to move the control sticks to almost full travel before it starts to move. I thought maybe your settings would be effective in the Q500 as well. I will go ahead and give it a try, and let you know how I made out. I can always reset if if doesn’t work. Thanks again! Love all of your videos! Keep them coming! Roland
B-drone, go into hardware monitor and check that your stick movement is 100% with the rate slider all the way up. If not you could have a dirty pot on the stick. Many pilots are finding that after some time, a little debris can get into the sticks and cause the output to be reduced. A plastic safe electronics cleaner has been reported to fix the problem with just a little spray. For more info, do a search at YuneecPilots.com
