    If you can ID any of these animals, please provide the time and the name. I would be most appreciate.

      That's always been my personal thought. Everything is infinitely small/big to everything else.

      of course because its a mater of perspective, to us a golf ball is small to an ant its a huge thing. to the galazy we ARe a spec of dust jsut not in the eyes of us humans we compare things to the size of men.

    8:57 is a diatom, in profile. 12:20, another diatom. 13:14 is a pleurostomatid ciliate (e.g. Amphileptus procerus or Litonotus cygnus). 14:17, more diatoms. 15:05, a colonial flagellate alga called Synura (a chrysophyte). 15:55, a desmid (Cosmarium, I think).

    "One single drop is an entire universe." I love that quote, just made me realize how complex this world is and proof that it didnt happen randomly.

    • @Anti-proton
      @Anti-proton  9 лет назад +1

      Aceplaya 21 It wasn't random. Evolution is a complex process which is very much not random.

    • @aceplaya2137
      @aceplaya2137 9 лет назад

      What created this process?

    • @Anti-proton
      @Anti-proton  9 лет назад

      Aceplaya 21 Nothing created it, it evolved over time. Small changes to the organisms through due to random mutation and natural selection. Most mutations (nearly all) are either benign or lethal, but every now and then a small mutation proves advantageous and that critter has a statistically higher chance of spreading their DNA. Over a long long time, this adds up.
      Unless you are speaking of abiogenesis, which is a totally different subject (how did life start). In that case, we may never know but scientists are pretty sure it evolved natural clay forming self replicating molecules. I can point you to a good video which shows the mechanism, if you like.
      Both of these subjects are very complex and well understood (evolution more so).

    I love science. I was swimming in the river a little over a week ago and I pulled out a log from under the water. I watched as I saw very tiny creatures walking along the log. Most of them were maggot like, but some were bigger and had arms. I had never seen those creatures before, so I’m going to invest in a telescope and start observing the bodies of water I go swimming in (beach, river, lake, etc) and compare how bacteria and animals differ from one location to another. Then I’ll learn more about the micro word we are too big to even notice.

    Lacrymaria olor is a protozoan, typically 100 micrometres (0.10 mm) long, that is found in freshwater ponds. Its name means "swan tear" in Latin, and refers to its general shape: namely, a teardrop-shaped body with a small "head" at the end of a long slender "neck". The animal is notable for its ability to extend the neck up to 7 times its body length, and manipulate in many directions - even around obstacles - in order to capture its food.[1] For that reason it is a popular subject for amateur microscopists.
