I am 28 years old and I still live with my parents. I will never own a house or have kids. Parliament has ruined the lives of 35 million people and they will face no justice or accountability. Great video.
33.8 million. 2.2 million are the "1+ million unaccounted for" and "temp" or "Student" visa holders that need to go back to their own countries but are not even though their visa's expired. It should be noted, we're not mad about imigrants coming to live here, its the amount of scam immigrants coming here with fake documentation, credentials, and listed skills..... all primarily from a certain specific area of the world. It should also be known that the wildfires in the Canadian East (Northern Ontario/Quebec), were all set by activists or people who have been paid for (by whom, we dont know, but we can guess, and some may even work for or in relation to the current government, as the fires started as a climate change bill was introduced into federal parliment for debate in the house several days later) Younger Canadian adults are not happy because they see the excess spending of this current government. Funny, that 10 hours ago when this video was released was already almost 24 hours after Crystia "cocaine" Freeland literally Resigned and told Trudeau to stuff himself, and her direct replacement also resigining, before the financial and budgetary update... which reported abother 65 billion in debt added in ONE QUARTER ALONE. The per capita debt of canadians from when the Liberals took power (~21,000 in 2015) has increaed more than 2x today (already adjusted for inflation, to ~$46,000), for canadians that already earn much less than american counterparts, if adjusted to represent american per capita debt (which is 105k USD right now), it would be close to a US per capita debt being ~130k USD.
@@BlackHoleOfTime Not just corporations but individuals are buying out estates as an investment. House pricing has always been going up as usual around the world not just those few countries. They need to stop making buying house as an investment being profitable, this will reduce the price from going up.
This is what happens when Government spending is not reined in! It's called inflation, and it's why the price of everything is going through the roof!!!
In NYC condos are being sold to foreign investors that never use them. Whole buildings are practically empty due to this. It drives up the cost of real estate and inflates it’s value.
Yes, hopefully the 'America First' agenda will cut down on foreign purchases of our resources. Agricultural land is a big problem too: they use our water, then ship the produce to their own country.
It's. Just. Capitalism. It's literally absurd to blame immigration. Canada has MASSIVE space. It isn't hard to build housing. Housing is artificially limited to make the landlord class richer. It's just neoliberalism failing in the way that's always been predicted, as wealth trickles up and the masses get squeezed. Canada could EASILY make housing a human right, and have the government build like 4-5 story housing blocks until the market corrects to adapt. They don't because they fear the 1% that own most of the housing, more than the masses struggling to pay for it.
@@ReVeralife Yeah, because the government that mindlessly created this problem has a plan to reliably fix their own mistake. Don't count on it. Stop. Giving. Government. Your. Consent.
Immigration isn't the whole problem. We also have a fairly unregulated housing market. A lot of housing is owned by corporations and wealthy landlords who own multiple houses who jack the prices because they can make more money waiting for desperate people to pay higher prices and flipping properties than charging reasonable rates. Sure the influx in people puts more pressure but there is a lot of empty housing too. Real estate developers only build luxury condos and Nimbys get mad when affordable housing is built near them because they care more about their property values than people having a place to live. Trudeau has changed his tone and is blaming immigrants because it is easier than going after his wealthy donors by making more affordable housing or passing policies like rent control that would upset them by decreasing the value of their "assets" We also have lots of monopolies or industries controlled by a very small number of companies that are able to gouge us due to a lack of competition driving our cost of living higher.
Same problem in the US. Lots of homeless and plenty of empty housing, but usurious zoning, price gouging and property taxes screw over the commoners in favor of wealthy politician and apparatchik landowners. Canada in particular has all the advantages because many of their immigrants are Asians from China and India and bring their own savings and high tech skills with them. The immigrants get ripped off and the locals get screwed.
THIS is 100% accurate, the city of markham was GIFTED a huge parcel of land in Markham village being used as a community garden. What did ol Mayor Scarpitti and his developer buddies do? Build affordable housing, an apartment building, town homes? Nope, left it vacant for 10 years, and plans are for 25 luxury homes (2million plus)
I would say that housing is OVER REGULATED red tape, OHSA over reach and govt interference adds time, cost, effort and resources to make matters worse. Get out of the way and let the supply and demand system do it's thing
There are many problems the way the gov't created unsustainable growth. One, immigration is NOT only half a million per year...that does not include the 5 million temporary workers/students. This is what created a housing/jobs/health crisis - not regular immigration. A majority of the workers/students are from one small area of the world and when they are given preference for low paying jobs, it is so obvious to anyone even visiting here. The other issue is refugees are given over $85k per year as a living wage when at the same time seniors and welfare are about 1/7th this amount. It is such a significant amount of money that temporary foreign students are making refugee claims because they cannot afford to live here. Let's add that the previous Minister of Immigration became the Minister of Housing and he just quit! We are short about 4 million homes and only a handful of homes are actually being built. Not many of the immigrants are trained in first world construction so who the hell is going to build all these homes. It is a 💩 show country (perhaps on purpose).
Not to mention unionized workers are gone and wage growthing below inflation levels since the 50's while corporations and ceo income has increased 350x over 1950's numbers (give or take)... and so credit becomes cheap to juice the economy, but now, everyone has to pay for the debt... and they can't get more credit, and now, all indentured servants to the banking class and so many on the verge of destitution while the economy stagnates... meanwhile, the biggest housing bubble in the world.... Cool cool cool cool....
Something that few people mention is that it is extremely difficult to evict a tenant who flat out stops paying rent. Nobody wants to risk damage to their property to get nothing in return, so they leave investment properties vacant. Tenant rights are very lopsided; landlords have hardly any rights at all. This imbalance needs to be addressed to help ease the housing shortage.
That is simply your choice... As a senior born and raised in this country I moved from Vancouver to a resort community where the rent is 1/3 of Vancouvers. Food is slightly more but the benefits are over whelming... I could stay and suffer financially in Vancouver - but I chose a smarter route!
Please look into senior housing ( many non-profit groups like Kiwanis clubs etc) have cute little bachelor for 1/3 of your income, no matter what it is. You have to go on a wait list, but it well worth it. Look into seniors advocate groups too..they will have valueable info.
I got lucky and bought my house in Calgary in 2017 while house prices were ok and rates were low, the value has gone up by almost 200K, which is +50% since.

Excuse me but landslides are not a national catastrophe in Canada. They happen to some degree in mountainous areas but they are not the significant issue you portray them as. It feels like a nonsequitor in your, what was up to that point, logical sensible argument.

Im going thru a seperation, live in Okanagan BC daughter 22 lives with me she cant find work and is having a kid any day now. Not sure how were going to make it.
That's crazy! If you lived in Nova Scotia, 84,000$ would be more than sufficient to pay the bills. People are in the same situation here, but income is 30,000$ to 40,000$ If you make over 50,000$ a year in rural NS, you've got it made. Compared to the rest of the country, even the "well-to-do" folks are considered poor.
I live in British Columbia. Before that I lived in Ontario and Alberta. The problem isn’t the population, the problem is that foreign entities come and overpay for rental properties and which in turn drives up the prices for houses to buy and rent. So those that have the equity can afford it and those that don’t are forced to pay rent to somebody who isn’t even in the country.
I live in south texas on an acre of land given to me by my dad. Built my house about 4 years ago for $45,000. Took me 1.5 years, did all the work myself. Married, 1 daughter and another child on the way. I make $40k a year, which to me is a lot, most money I've ever made. Realistically, my family and I could probably survive on 10k a year. I know, nobody cares, just wanted to give perspective
truedeau has effectively crushed most of our ability to support ourselves and there is no way that statistic regarding public support of immigration isn't cherry picked.
Environmental disasters, higher housing costs and worsening pay. Most people don't want to have kids when they feel like they can barely support themselves.
We just brought our wage from 15 per hour to 20 per hour... 5 dollar increase extra over the regular 3 percent a year... Wages are not stagnant... unless you are in an area that was overpaid to begin with... which would be about 5 percent of Canada area wise.
Birth rates are low because cost of living is not affordable because immigrants come in with free phones, homes, schooling and get cash subsities just by coming to the country. Who pays for that? Canadians through the extremely high taxes.
Legal immigrants are different from ilegal immigrants. Please specify clearly when putting blame on people. Legal immigrants are beneficial to a country. They are the ones qualify to your country's need, don't get that confuse.
It's. Just. Capitalism. It's literally absurd to blame immigration. As stated in the video, Canada NEEDS immigration to make up for falling birthrates. That isn't the problem. They stopped exporting the people who should not ever have been here to begin with. Hopefully that changes in Jan. Plus funding all the wars overseas while our own people suffer from devastating things like Hurricanes and Fires and Floods. It's sad.
This probably isn't helping much: Investment firms: The 25 largest investment firms, including REITs, private-equity firms, and asset managers, own about 20% of Canada's rental housing with more than six units. U.S. hedge funds: U.S. hedge funds are entering the Canadian residential real estate market. CAPREIT: The largest publicly traded apartment landlord in Canada, with over $17.7 billion in assets. Invitation Homes and AMH: Two of the largest home-buying firms, which are publicly traded companies.
Canadian here, the problem is from the top down its called years of bad policies and people fleeing from the higher price areas to lower areas without dealing with the higher prices. Honestly its gonna be canadas version of us 2008 housing crash.
Since 2009, I have been saying that Canada is in a housing bubble and a correction was needed. Neither the Harper or Trudeau governments did anything about it
Yeah that's why I didnt vote. Do I vote for a criminal piece of shit, a deluded piece of shit or an even bigger daddy's boy of a shit? Not to mention the current government put new laws in place to prevent new competition from entering the bid for the government. Canada has never been about the people! We're a defacto government built by the cooperation, NOT a dejoure government elected by the people like they would have you believe. Electing a dejoure government was a part of our terms of agreement with the crown for our sovereignty, but that never happened. Aka that's why we are still considered a colony of England and still pay around $60 million per year to the monarchy, not including additional expenses and building maintenance.
Can't wait for the problem to be fixed though. I'm so mad. Every time I get a promotion the cost of living outpaces me. I work my ass off to still feel like a loser here. And it's cold af more than half of the year
You didn't touch on carbon tax, which drives up heating costs, gasoline cost, and food prices. Private equity buying up single family dwellings hurts as much as home buying to launder money.

Yeah our household brings in 120K a year and we're not even close to having saved enough for a down payment on a house. Between groceries, taxes and everything else we can barely put away any savings and in the mean time are pissing away money paying rent. It's infuriating.
That's insane, you need a financial coach. Go over your bills and see where you can save. Buy your home and yes at first it's tough but every year your income rises but your monthly mortgage payment not and every year it gets easier.
The people that enacted Canada's immigration policies are the type of people to go camping without brining any camping gear. "Whadya mean I need a tent? There's no hotel out here!?"
Birthrates drop because people can't afford to marry, buy a house or have children. Women marry later for economic reasons and have fewer children or end up infertile. By not encouraging traditional marriage and families in school and society, authorities lower the birth rates, especially of citizens born in Canada.
What do you mean by "Encourage traditional marriage"? I don't think you should promote any specific kind of relationship especially since in a lot of places peopel can't afford a one person income and many women don't want to give up a load of their autonomy to a guy.
It’s the same in the US. Women my age are hitting menopause stages. There are three, close to generations of adults who were discouraged from marrying and/or have children until you’re setup enough to be ready. And of course, as everyone finds out way too late, the “perfect timing” does not exist. US citizens had babies at 18-24 by the millions until about 40 years ago. A lot of people that wanted children wanted to wait until they “were ready” and ran out of years. And it gets worse every generation. Birth rates are going to fall to a point that the government and public schools will encourage teenagers to have babies by the millions again. And honestly these 16-18 year olds are in prime years to have babies. It’s only recently, like 100 years or less, that this was discouraged.
Birthrates also drop because the propaganda machine has said there is an 'overpopulation' problem, because young people hae been told that their main objective in life is self-pleasure with wealth and travel and entertainment, and the family unit has been annhiliated so young people have no concept of what a normal, healthy family is..... they can't want what the don't know.
Birth rates also drop because fertility caused by environmental factors, endocrine disrupters from beauty and cleaning prodicts cause infertility, food deserts and processed foods are also causing infertility, healthy whole foods are hard to come by in some communities. Forever chemicals found in food, air, water, soil, pesticides, micro plastics. It’s not hard to see why so many women have fertility challenges. All these things are also affecting peoples metabolism, kids are being born with so much stacked against them, these health issues stack up genetically predisposing kids for certain diseases which can affect future generations.
Some of the reasons I know: - 60-70% of house hold debt is housing and real estate continues to grow - Canadians don't invest into R&D like states does and most of our savings money goes towards real estate (non-productive asset class) or boomer stocks - career level wages in Canada have not gone up in decades - Canada has an aging population and requires immigration to continue its current trajectory, but they've imported non-productive workers that don't fill demand in areas Canada needs it, causing wage suppression and higher demand for everyday essentials/resources (i.e. groceries & gas) - Canadians pay upwards of 13% in sales tax, 10-15% in tipping, and 30%+ income tax - our leadership overspends and doesn't properly allocate budgeting (i.e. our PM spent 60m on a mobile app, where the contractors just paid offshore talent to make and they pocketed the difference)
How high are property taxes in Canada and Insurance premiums for housing? I’m sure they aren’t cheap either. They’ve risen in the USA. I’m just curious about Canada.
@@laikanbarth I purchased my house in 1996 ( big property- house and garden ) I paid property taxes about 5ooo $ a year after 28 years property tax is 6100 $ a year, not very big jump. House insurance 980 $ a year in 1996 now 1200 $/year , Value of my house increased by 4 x , insurance just a little bit so was property taxes. I live in 0.5 mln popult. city in Ontario. This program is my opinion for new immigrants to stop them from coming in.
Don't forget the wealthy foreigners that have bought massive amounts of real-estate, which sit vacant, as investment properties. By leaving so many properties vacant they have scarcity in the market, causing the value of their investments to increase. Couple that with increased immigration. Artificially increasing your population at the same time as the number of available houses decreases is a sure way to raise prices. It's all happened under Trudeau/Freeland. It was on purpose. Look into "The World Economic Forum", Trudeau, Freeland, Jasmeet Singh + >50% of the Canadian parliament are all members of the group.
Your info is misleading! It doesn't tell where the spike was! So there's no way to factually correlate what caused the increase that this video is describing!

basically the same thing is going on in the netherlands. house prices are so insane that i'll probably will never be able to buy a house. unless i win a few million, but i don't see that happening any time soon.
Hi Steve! How are you now that you have had your coffee? I hope, everyone is healthy and happy! Great information, thank you! See you here next time! !
My taxes go up every year I pay more than in Toronto with no perks and festivals. Just a basic semi , no land and parking for 1.5 cars if you get creative.
rent is so high because of the millions of foreigners being imported, less houses being built and corporations buying real estate for investments. ontop of inflation, causing everyone to pay more for their basic needs to live. not to mention every job requirements are getting higher and higher and education costing more because the amount of foreigners flooding the college/universities. without a family to pay for your education your going to be stuck working 2 jobs (80 hours a week) at minimum wage to afford to eat and sleep. disgusting greedy governments are to blame.
it is because of the high demand. Listen to his number of immigrants...And this is not even accurate : there are many, many more than his number. It is well explained and is the main driver of inflation also in Canada. And yes taxes incresed a LOT for landlords AND insurance to.
I agree with most of your comments, I remember in the 80's living in Toronto the problem in Brampton was wide spread with people buying houses and creating multiple apt's in basements in unsafe conditions. Before Expo 86 you could find affordable apartments in BC. I live in New Brunswick and have seen during Covid investors from other provinces buying up houses and apartment buildings then charging people up to twice the rent thinking they on on par with big city increases. My son lives in Edmonton in a brand new building with all the bells and whistles and is paying $1300 a month and in Moncton the same type of building is $2300 a month. Make sense ? I don't think so. And what makes me nervous is a new change in Government in the spring is going to be just as bad, I'm sure the first year will be nothing done except complain about Trudeau.
This is the problem. There's a housing shortage and the government brings in more people, (to replace the legacy Canadian people), and they raise the demand for housing.
I'd be interested in your take when the mass "unwashed hoards" from the other side of the 49th started claiming refugee status in Canada, after January 20th 2025.
Socialist-inspired housing policies in Canada have aimed to balance market dynamics with social equity by improving affordability, regulating rents and increasing social housing availability. However the interplay of limited housing supply, urban demand and high construction costs continues to challenge the effectiveness of these policies. A more comprehensive approach integrating both market driven solutions and social safety nets may be required to address Canada’s housing crisis.
Price of living up here is outta pocket i wont lie. the piece of mind trade off isnt great compared to the states anymore. its a safer place to a degree to live but its not cheap
...meanwhile...our very own "mini Trump" wanna be is lying-in-wait. Careful what you wish for. At age 70, I'm just a little tired of federal elections, where it's always either Liberal or Conservative. Perhaps we should try an NDP/Green Party combo for 4 years? Couldn't be any worse than what we've been experiencing for the past 50 years.
I was staggered to hear that the housing crisis had even hit New Brunswick? 15 years ago, I drove my wife up to the French speaking portion of Canada because she's French and the English language was weighing heavy on her psychologically. So we drove to Canada via Maine. When you say there's a shortage of housing, what we saw was all the reasons why there shouldn't be a shortage of housing. Between St. Leonard (at the border with the U.S.) and Eel River not far from the large town of Campbelton, all we saw were miles upon miles of tall pine forests. There were a few scattered habitations but the immensity of open wooded territory was giving my wife her first case of agoraphobia. The amount of cars between the Border of the US and Eel river we counted was 22. Really empty. So if there's no housing, then it's by design because if 75 people withy the pioneering spirit and a few chainsaws, hammers and nails wanted shelter, the least they needed to do would be to go into this area and build their own homes, cabins or even woodland shacks and work out their needs from there. If the authorities came along to chase them out, all they would need to do is claim homelessness and wait to be sheltered legally by the authorities... or claim squatter's right!
To squat I know I tried years ago when young and foolish in Canada is almost impossible. It MUST BE OPEN and NOTORIOUS ! There are technically NO SQUATTERS RIGHTS in Canada the British made that all but impossible when they were in power. You must also have a legit address to apply for any social programs as well. There are NO VACCANCIES in the shelters...any where!! Even in small towns!!! Food banks have run out of FOOD , soup kitchens are closing!!! WAKE THE FUCK UP!!! sorry for yelling we do not have the legality to build our own and what is being built are for sale to huge conglomerates or investors from other countries , tied up in burrocracy. It takes 10 years on average to just get a shovel in the ground due to all that and there are fees you have to pay every year just to remind the government your still waiting.
People from Ontario are also coming into NB and buying property, then doing repairs and renovations to make the property value higher, then reselling the property.
We invested and built a tiny house this summer on a 20' flat deck double axil trailer. Super warm! From $1,500 in rent now to $600 and saving again going from project to project.
I disagree with the use of the terms "illegal" and 'living" in any combination, including "illegal living space". They are, of course, sub standard, below code, perhaps even unhealthy and unsafe living spaces. The issue is the health and safety, not the legality. People have a legal right to live where ever they can manage to. The gov't job is to help with heath and safety.
2:19 We have a "Quick Sale" cart at the local grocery store. It's mostly vegetable that are going bad. I was talking to an East Indian mom who I see at the cart often .. we each had a selection of two 50 cent celerity stalks, that were rubbery and brown in spots. BUT we were wondering how to use them! She said she was going to fry them and add to rice, with curry. I was gong to make soup with that and some spongy onions and celery salt I had at home. THIS is a normal conversation now!!! It's pretty sad!
One of the Canadian broadcast news organizations crunched known numbers, number of known immigrants and citizens vs known housing (houses, apartments, hotel rooms, etc). And it was discovered all known occupants of Canada exceed known housing.
Three other charts to shed some light on childless nations. 1) Total tax-load per capita per year 2) Median individual income per year 3) Effective real total cost of raising a child
My heart goes out to those families. So many more fortunate people like to tell themselves -"oh, they dont want to work" or "get a job, dont be lazy". While that may be correct in a tiny fraction of homeless, just about all of those on our streets were normal tax paying/rent paying working stiffs, until they were forced by income to get to that horrifying situation. Its scary. So many of us dont even realize how close we live to the edge. Take care of one another, dont be hateful to others, and thank god every time you put your head on your pillow each night.
@MarkHonea you are absolutely correct. I'm one of those that employed 10-12 people for 30 years, paid emp taxes in them, paid gobs of income taxes, paid over 30k year in property taxes,.... The aftershocks of 08 crash ,(and Trump telling folks it's ok to be evil liars) finally got me. Had some very solid and profitable loans,(to lender) called in. Lost 800k equity in property. Lived in a car for 4 years. Just now getting back on my feet. We are definitely on a knife edge. Folks just choose to pretend they are secure.
@@TGWazoo1 Purge? Be careful what you wish for. I wouldn't put it past the Orange Mango south of us to suggest a "Purge" in his country. That will be a wake-up call for Canadian border towns and not in a good way.
As you pointed out, a working and effective immigration system was in place until 2015. Then, the government increased immigration levels, as you noted. We were already in a bit of a housing crunch because of too much bureaucracy, but nothing was done to adjust for the increased number of newcomers. Oops. That's mismanagement. The serious problems were already showing when the pandemic hit. Then the cracks in the system really started to show themselves. Then the borders were flung and government spending increased rapidly. Federal bureaucracy exploded but Government direction and oversight wasn't seen much. The results were like throwing flames on an open fire. Did I say mismanagement? Yeah. All of this could have been foreseen by someone who looked at and reacted to the publicly available data. Somehow the Government never thought of doing that.
This is a suburb of Toronto. Ontario Premier Ford doesn't care that housing prices are off the chart or that developers prefer building expensive condos and big houses, and no one is insisting that affordable housing is built. Oh, and the gov't doesn't care about rental, because it's considered "bad" people rent. They hate having rental properties. Those that are available are not taken care of. When I tried to rent a townhouse in Ottawa, the attitude was well it's a rental, what do you expect? when I asked about the bad conditions of the properties I looked at. It's criminal.
It's getting like this everywhere now. Prices in the UK are going up all the time. And our government are forcing it up by allowing illegal immigrants to stay by the thousands.
As I remember think there was also statistic of Quality of production in comparison with price, and surprisingly there was topic about bigger population and migration politics drops quality of services, products... It works like that not only with older population, but also with uncontrolled migration... It creates situation what companies stopping investing in local population education and put bet on bigger concurrence between migrants, which leads what a lot of specialists will work not by they specialty - There is also interesting topic, what because of specialist quality drop in our modern times companies prefer hire qualified specialists from onboard with consultancies, and most low income work is often open by migration.
I lived in Calgary for 10 years and worked for a utility company that was owned by the city. I spoke to landlords all the time. I could go on for hours about the scummy things landlords would try to get away with. There's no real limit what you can charge for rent in Calgary other than what is stated in your lease, it is the complete "free market" out there. Landlords would get so much money from one place they would just use the money to buy more houses and rent those out too. You would talk to landlords who had accumulated 20 to 30 houses renting them out for outrageous prices, often not looking after their upkeep. I didn't really need to mention that last part but I felt like it. Now I don't know a lot about the housing market, but I'm going to guess if there's an onslaught of landlords who had all the money in the world to buy houses is likely to make the price of houses go up. I already know when prices go up less people buy houses and are forced to rent.. at whatever price they can. This would drive up rent prices allowing landlords to afford the new price of houses. Put a rent freeze in effect. Make it profitable but limit how much money you can make from it. Once these landlords can no longer afford to buy more houses the prices will drop with the demand. We've done rent freezes in the past during economic hard times, we should now too.
Many of these landlords are in reality realstate companies that are out to make lots of money. Most small landlords make just enough to make it worth the problems they may have with bad renters.
@@hedydefoy3380 I don't blame any of the landlords, not even those actually contributing to the problem. It's human nature to find and exploit ways of getting more for one's self, this is why we have rules and laws in the first place. We need to modify the rules to fit our current needs.
7:43 **correction** "Canada is a country, that was build by immigration" That offends us English, we prefer calling it colonisation instead over immigration.

Canada needs to build more housing. The incoming people would be fine if the government properly planned. 3 million new Canadians in 3 years.. yet I don't see any new cities being built. Shouldn't 3 or 4 entirely new cities be built? Shouldn't 10s of thousands of doctors, nurses, police, firefighters, and other support people be hired? Shouldn't several thousand km of new roads and rails be built? None of this happened to accommodate these millions of new people. Its as if the government expected them to show up, eat no food, sleep in tents, and not require any services. Foolish.
I have had numerous conversations with dozens of recent immigrants, most are leaving, and they feel zero loyalty to Canada, mostly because it feels like las vegas here, way too expensive, but you aren't having a good time. TRUDUM is an absolute disaster, he basically invited 100 people over for dinner and made food for 3 people.
This happening in Australia and New Zealand. Australia is famous for calling owning a home as an investment, not a home and giving those who can afford to own more than 2 houses get a benefit from the government. Public housing hasn’t been built in reasonable number sine the 1960’s and especially when Liberal ( conservative) governments are in power. It’s about getting rich at the expense of people who cannot afford high prices and mortgages. Most young people will not be able to afford the base price of an average house of a million dollars. Two incomes are needed with children being sent to childcare centres which is not free and not good for children. We are going backwards socially and it’s not necessary. Governments must provide public housing that is affordable so that families can have their mothers with them as we did. If women don’t want to look after their kids, then please don’t have any. They are worth looking after, a lot of the problems we have with kids out of control is because parents are not doing the job they signed up for.
Who actually owns the property. Look and see why it is more than about population and property growth. In the US more than half of residential property is owned not by people but by corporations.
Minimum wage has increased steadily for 8 years. Wages are too high for the economy to support. Too many people at minimum wage will collapse an economy. Not enough money to go around.
In 2022, when the Ukraine war started, many people flew out of there. Our government figured this was a good opportunity to bring Europeans to Canada so they opened the floodgates. As a result, Canada’s population increased one million in one year, on a total of 40 million of citizens. Many volunteered to shelter these new incoming citizens but after six months, they were on their own. Canada couldn’t absorb so many people and everything has been going crazy since then. The country added 2.5% people in a single year, enough to derail any housing regulations. As for Vancouver, the crazy increase came from Chinese foreigners buying houses by the thousands in the past two decades, causing a housing bubble. As for Toronto, it has been attracting the most immigrant for decades with apartment prices going to the roof. This is why we are in a dire situation. Some immigrants are actually trying to leave Canada I read. Unfortunately, new immigrants have the lowest paying jobs.
I work in the building industry and its rare that we build a house smaller then the 1400 Sq/ft house that I live in. We build mostly over 2000 sq/ft housing. How is that affordable??
Ontario has rent control as long as you stay put the rent can only be raised as much as inflation. And yes houses are expensive but always have been like that. Buy today and in 20 you will be living in a cheap house as your wage kept increasing but your monthly payments not. Quit all those silly monthly subscriptions and start paying down your house, we didn't have that stuff 20 years ago.
Ask Cuba or China how socialism worked out! People like you just love the government ruling over everything you do! If you can't see that the government created the problem, then you're to Stu pid to understand!
Look up which president made it possible for corporations and banks to buy houses even if they are not used. Making the housing and rent cost go crazy. Here in the Bay, rent is usually more than half your monthly income.

It's important to mention, that air&b screwed the rental market internationally... and in Canada, rent caps were removed, which used to protect renters. Third large corporations are permitted to buy up much of the available housing. Stop scapegoating immigrants... we are all immigrants in Canada

This has been going on forrrrr years in Brampton, why was the city so surprised. The same people complaining about over crowded schools were the first on the street to rent their basements to families with more than one or two children. I am not talking about a mansion basement but maybe 500 sq ft. Also no parking. All you have to do is drive down the street and start doing basement checks. Then start the fines. But you have to come around after dark in summer and see the amount of children that come out. Really sad life for them, but don't waste your time complaining to the city because then you are the bad person. When will the city actually do something never but are shocked when families die.
I live in British Columbia in the Vancouver area and housing is no joke there are so many homes that are unoccupied and people would love to live in them but the owners are overseas and the local government is not really doing anything about it so they’re sitting there empty not paying taxes and every year the price goes up and up and up on rent
I live in Canada. I am from the First Nation demographic. One that greatly out numbers any other demographic despite the on going attacks we face on a social scale. Trudooo also made illegal move against First Nation by forcing non natives onto Band registration lists who have a per capita pay out from land claims against Canada. All international drugs are directed to our door step, the list goes on and on. Try investigating that good man.
Also, because of the extremely high prices, there has been a total lack of housing production since the early 2000s. The housing crisis has been going on for a long time especially in major cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. In the last feel years, the Immigration policies has loosen up to the point of exploding the population to an already severe housing shortage. Really the housing supply must match the population demands otherwise where do you expect people to stay?

33.8 million. 2.2 million are the "1+ million unaccounted for" and "temp" or "Student" visa holders that need to go back to their own countries but are not even though their visa's expired. It should be noted, we're not mad about imigrants coming to live here, its the amount of scam immigrants coming here with fake documentation, credentials, and listed skills..... all primarily from a certain specific area of the world.
It should also be known that the wildfires in the Canadian East (Northern Ontario/Quebec), were all set by activists or people who have been paid for (by whom, we dont know, but we can guess, and some may even work for or in relation to the current government, as the fires started as a climate change bill was introduced into federal parliment for debate in the house several days later)
Younger Canadian adults are not happy because they see the excess spending of this current government.
Not only Canada, but Australia and US too. In general, the western countries are becoming impossible to live in these years.

It's. Just.
Stop. Giving. Government. Your. Consent.
@@Sinvxor just a lying, Trudeau-loving Canuck
Immigration isn't the whole problem. We also have a fairly unregulated housing market. A lot of housing is owned by corporations and wealthy landlords who own multiple houses who jack the prices because they can make more money waiting for desperate people to pay higher prices and flipping properties than charging reasonable rates. Sure the influx in people puts more pressure but there is a lot of empty housing too. Real estate developers only build luxury condos and Nimbys get mad when affordable housing is built near them because they care more about their property values than people having a place to live. Trudeau has changed his tone and is blaming immigrants because it is easier than going after his wealthy donors by making more affordable housing or passing policies like rent control that would upset them by decreasing the value of their "assets"
We also have lots of monopolies or industries controlled by a very small number of companies that are able to gouge us due to a lack of competition driving our cost of living higher.
It is a good time to get into that business. You should get some rentals.
And they try to evict everyone for bs reasons. I am dealing with that right now inBC...

Some of the reasons I know:
- 60-70% of house hold debt is housing and real estate continues to grow
- Canadians don't invest into R&D like states does and most of our savings money goes towards real estate (non-productive asset class) or boomer stocks
- career level wages in Canada have not gone up in decades
- Canada has an aging population and requires immigration to continue its current trajectory, but they've imported non-productive workers that don't fill demand in areas Canada needs it, causing wage suppression and higher demand for everyday essentials/resources (i.e. groceries & gas)
- Canadians pay upwards of 13% in sales tax, 10-15% in tipping, and 30%+ income tax
- our leadership overspends and doesn't properly allocate budgeting (i.e. our PM spent 60m on a mobile app, where the contractors just paid offshore talent to make and they pocketed the difference)

Why are the rents so HIGH? Did taxes increase? Or is it just GREED because they know there are people in need?
And yes taxes incresed a LOT for landlords AND insurance to.
it's a planned agenda
I'm really glad you made this video, it's been a struggle.
Bruh, the thumbnail.

"people have already arrived, and need to be housed somewhere." Yes, how about back where they came from?
From Montreal 🇨🇦 here. Little boy Trudeau has to go.
Agreed I live in timmins
...meanwhile...our very own "mini Trump" wanna be is lying-in-wait. Careful what you wish for. At age 70, I'm just a little tired of federal elections, where it's always either Liberal or Conservative. Perhaps we should try an NDP/Green Party combo for 4 years? Couldn't be any worse than what we've been experiencing for the past 50 years.
"Canada has it figured out."
Even the sentences he says before that are utterly insane. 8:40
Yes dont come unless you want to donate a body part
There’s a lot of information in this summary of Canadian statistics. Nice job 👍
Dude, I hate titles like this. People will be living in Canada way after I have died of old age.
After a purge.
It's criminal.
we're all slaves.. and the mirage of freedom is coming to an end.
Right before Hong Kong returned to China, Canada saw a major increase in housing costs. It happened fast.
Let me get some coffee bro! ☕️
Starting off the ay with a WATOP video... Feel good
7:43 **correction** "Canada is a country, that was build by immigration" That offends us English, we prefer calling it colonisation instead over immigration.
in Toronto a lot of homeowners would rent part of their home. The new rule is that the renter is the bus, and not pay, make damages and win on the courts... Who wants to go through this none sence.
Thanks Dude, Appreciate the awareness, From Canada, Cheers 🍻🤟💌
I'm in BC yes this is happening & we have had a hell of a time living in derelict homes for the passed 4 years ! Paying high rents for horrible homes & SO many renovictions to Up the rent. Good, decent people made homeless is exponentially astronomical!!! ALSO the percentage is actually higher than what you said, 32 % people are paying more than 30% of income and several are paying more than 50% !! It's insane !! The Community Non profits here to help locals HAVE changed bigtime they are NOW only for immigrants, I was SO shocked. These places have been around for over 30 years AND now they ONLY help Newcomers, LIKE WHAT ?? About helping the people born here?? Please don't get me wrong, I Love our Country & I genuinely Love our Multiculturalism, its a beautiful thing when we share together & maintain similar ethics. The problem is WHEN foreign people that are either criminal or are largely corrupt and/or BOTH. Plus there has become a strangely adverse discrimination AGAINST our own People from here. It is SO bizarre, to say the least !!
Foolish.
I was born in Canada. DON'T MOVE TO CANADA!!!
I’ll quit complaining my mortgage is $1012.00 USD per month. 3/2 with a yard q and a 2 1/2 car garage. 4:22
This is all part of the reset plan
Yes they become members of their own communities just not western European/Christian, Canadian communities.
I work in the building industry and its rare that we build a house smaller then the 1400 Sq/ft house that I live in. We build mostly over 2000 sq/ft housing. How is that affordable??
This is exactly the future of America what you're talking about.
Governments just need the balls to set rental pricing like a utility its not like landlords actually get hurt since 90% of them are gouging
Ask Cuba or China how socialism worked out! People like you just love the government ruling over everything you do! If you can't see that the government created the problem, then you're to Stu pid to understand!
It's the same market failure seen in Australia as well, only difference is you can freeze to death in Canada.
Look up which president made it possible for corporations and banks to buy houses even if they are not used. Making the housing and rent cost go crazy. Here in the Bay, rent is usually more than half your monthly income.
These people are just trying to survive stand strong..... there is a way to stop the madness Get involved with the government after all they work for you! there is always hope The power is in the number of people standing together for what they believe in
Elect somebody that's worth your time of day... may God bless you all and watch over you doing these troubled times.
Canadians need to thank mr Turdeau for that.
17:10 Wait what kind of ton?
(metric) ton = 1000 kg / 2204 lbs (Avoirdupois imperial)
(imperial short) ton = 907.18 kg / 2000 lbs (Avoirdupois imperial)
(imperial long) ton = 1016 kg / 2,240 lbs (Avoirdupois imperial)
It's important to mention, that air&b screwed the rental market internationally... and in Canada, rent caps were removed, which used to protect renters. Third large corporations are permitted to buy up much of the available housing. Stop scapegoating immigrants... we are all immigrants in Canada
There, you earned yourself a like.
I spend 2/3 of my income in BC on housing, then taxes, electric and groceries. Yes, my house is worth a lot, but that doesn't help anything cause I have to live somewhere!! It's our dedicated to leftism/wholeness that has for over 20 years, continually added taxes and added way more than acceptably to gov employees salaries. Pierre polliviere is going to Make Canada Great Again!! Peace ✌️
I think there should be a tax on landlords to curb the greed causing homelessness. The tax can offset the cost of the ageing population.
Rent is the new serfdom, the rich will own all the houses and the poor will pay them to live there. All things truly do go full circle.
Same problem in Portugal.
Looks like taking millions of migrants all at once is not such a great idea.
Rents go up, salaries stay down.
Im glad this is being covered more
Now I know why you have a fed hat on your desk.
THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR PRI MINISTER TAKES ADVICE FROM HILARY CLINTON
I live in Canada. I am from the First Nation demographic. One that greatly out numbers any other demographic despite the on going attacks we face on a social scale. Trudooo also made illegal move against First Nation by forcing non natives onto Band registration lists who have a per capita pay out from land claims against Canada. All international drugs are directed to our door step, the list goes on and on. Try investigating that good man.
In the 1600's immigrants from Britain, France and the Netherlands came to Canada
My parents used Canada (1957) as a stepping stone to California, legally.
