    I love You Casey Faris. I have installed the Beta and imported an asset I made in Blender as a Usd to animate in resolve and it works!
    I am finding it so much easier to do what I wanted to as I only have about a month or two in Blender but just over a year in Resolve so animating the camera is so much easier to me in Resolve than having to learn follow bezier tracks in Blander.
    So happy. Thank You... For all your help over this last one year+

    Great tutorial on the basics. This opens up so many things. I've tried so hard importing FBX stuff and it never works. Just import fbx into blender, export as usd and presto - looks exactly as it should in Resolve.

    Wow, that sounds like something I could really try using someday. At the moment I'm still working at grasping the node way of doing things in Fusion (and the rest of Resolve) so that I can make better movies. I work with 3d programs (iClone and Daz3d) and most of their 3d items to tell my story. I remember iClone talked about using USD and it looks good. It'd be nice if/when I get my ducks in a row. I hope you'll be cranking out more videos on topics such as this. 😊

    3D is mostly overkill for the game playthroughs I do, but I'm tempted to get more into it just because of all the stuff you can do.

    MY TOP USD WISHLIST FEATURES INCLUDE:
    - uFastNoise
    - USD integration with current 3D capabilities. (eg: I've created a 3D, fast noise driven, animated ocean template that I'd like to float a couple of public domain, 4k USD Pirate Ship models I found online)
    - ability to decompose USD models and customize materials and shaders with enviromental model nodes. (eg: UBlinn, UCookTorrence, UWard, UPhong, UReflect....etc)
    ...but since I expect to be waiting some time for these types of upgrades are available, I'm really really close to doing a deep dive into learning Blender. Can you recommend some really good channels to start learning from? I'm pretty good with Fusion now, and I have a firm grasp on Node based editing workflows, so hope It's easier than I'm currently anticipating :)
    Tnx for all the GREAT CONTENT you provide us. CHEERS!

    Actualy I still prefer to render my scenes in blender, an then bring them to Davinci for compositing. this way I have way more control... But Damn. this USD support is gonna be huge.

    I am really very excited by this. I have been working on a scene where I have an areal shot of a camera rotating around a pit that has a circle of trees around it and I have created a big top tent type object in blender that I am trying to place in the centre of the trees and track the camera in blender to make it look like the big top is actually there but am really struggling with getting the focal length etc to place the big top in the correct place. Maybe now I can import the blender object into resolve it might be an easier way to go about it? Do you have any idea how the resolve trackers could help with this? or if they could?

    Nice stuff, tx for the quick intro. My question, does anyone know if 'USD' can be combined with the 'regular 3D'? I am having a usdz object (space ship) that I would like to 'merge' with a spinning globe (think of the Breaking News clip). Neither Merge3D or uMerge can bring them together and the manual does not elaborate on this either. Am I overlooking something or should I take another approach?

    The only thing that makes 3d set a little difficult for me on fusion is when I add 3d object the texture needs to be added separately which is much easier in blender...I wish adding texture would be easier in fusion. Or maybe it's easy but I just don't know how to

    • @ComplexTagret

      Would you be so kind to explain, how to add texture to Fusion? In Blender I use Glass BSDF and in Fusion it is still black object. No transparency at all.

      @@bzibubabbzibubab420 a while ago i was payed to render a turntable animation of a few products. I tried many ways but i couldn't render a spinning product video in any of the softwares that i've tried(im actually a graphic designer). i resorted to using 3D viewer in windows, that had a turntable feature, where i used OBS to screen capture the rotation. I then cropped that video in Resolve, magic masked the product, and replaced the background with an image i made in Bing image creator. I then exported the clip and upscaled it in Topaz Video Ai to 4k and added a fake push in shot by slowly zooming in the shot while the product rotated. i had to do this shit for 6 products. Just imagine that we're now able to do all of this in Resolve. In 2-3 years, they'll run out of ideas and probably implement gaming features just to fuck with the Game Engine sector and disrupt them too.

    what are the requirements for doing 3d in fusion. i would say that i have a pretty good pc however when i put my dounut as a test as i wanted to see how it worked my pc was struggling and every time i tried to interact with it i experienced lag along with hearing my computers fans start kicking off essentially. is there a way around it that i can get it to run smoother when dealing with 3d?

    • @CaseyFaris
      @CaseyFaris  10 месяцев назад

      The 3d is pretty resource heavy at the moment in Fusion. I wouldn't expect super smooth playback on most comps with any kind of 3d above some basic shapes and text

    3D in comp programs like Fusion and Nuke is wildly outdated. It was groundbreaking 10 years ago because you could render 3D in realtime and do it right in your comp. But the rendering quality out of these tools is garbage. Now that we've got realtime rendering in Blender and UE5, and especially with the realtime compositing now in Blender, I can't help but feel like USD in Fusion, while nice, is only 1% of what it needs to be. We need an EEVEE or UE5 comparable PBR rendering engine in these programs stat!

    • @mariotriforce
      @mariotriforce Год назад +1

      While I agree, for the 3d pipeline this is going to be essential, compositing is still a veryyyyyy important step for onlineing & interoptability is becoming more & more important for turnarround + this means fusion should get more 3d engine support & gets resolve to be more realtime, so a toolset is outdated but is still highly used what dose that say 😅, even ue rendering out .exr files to resolve can improve quality😅 so it's gonna be interesting to see the rise of real time compositing tho 😅

    • @SteveWarner
      @SteveWarner Год назад +1

      @@mariotriforce Yeah, comp is still a critical step in the VFX pipeline. It won't go away but I can't see myself importing a usd into fusion when I can render to multilayer exr and have all the benefits of a better render engine. Until fusion can render at the same quality as evee, cycles, render man or octane, I'll be sticking to the old way of doing things.

    • @mariotriforce
      @mariotriforce Год назад

      @@SteveWarner well that is somewhat the point of the multiple render engine support for in USD (including partical engines) yes it's currently the renderman viewport but it's something, I do hope the render engines will put in the work tho 🤔& regardless exrs will be that stop gap until then

    It looks promising but so far the demonstrations of this feature aren't that impressive. I see no difference in rendering out the 3d model's animation in a 3d package then importing it in DR as a video clip with a transparent background.
