Morning Report 18 Jun 24: ASX to rise ahead of RBA decision

US sharemarkets closed higher on Monday as technology stocks rallied despite a jump in US bond yields, with traders gearing up for a reading on US retail sales and a slew of US Federal Reserve speakers. Megacaps Apple and Tesla rose 2% and 5.3%, respectively. The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor index lifted 1.6% to an all-time high. Nvidia ended 0.7% lower after hitting a fresh record high earlier in the session as State Street said the chipmaker will likely have a more than 20% weighting in the rebalance of its tech exchange-traded fund. Super Micro Computer soared 5.1%. Broadcom gained 5.4%, while Micron Technology jumped 4.6% after price-target raises by brokerages.
