Scallops very hard to find in close in the bay these days bro, pretty sad, whole place has been stripped of mussels aswell, at least they have finally put a ban on mussel collection, fisheries does ok with snapper and kings but it's management of our shellfish is horrid
Awesome video again :). I was just wondering about the diving around NZ, seems like you've got a lot of sheer cliffs into the ocean...under water in must drop off pretty quick, no? What are your average dive depths while you're spearing? I'm out here on the west coast of BC, Canada and our topography looks very similar...here it depends where you dive, but most of what I've been spearing (rock fish, ling cod, and flounder) are around 30-50' for rock fish, Lings are a little deeper, anywhere from 80-40' (I can't get much past 80' so I don't know if they are deeper or not....yet), and flounder can be had anywhere from 40-10'...as long as you have a sandy bottom. Keep the awesome vids coming....oh...and extra kudos for uploading in 1440p...all those awesome colours and details are amazing!!
Hey thanks mate! it's really a mixture around NZ with most having a gradual reef drop off, with a lot of the outer lying islands with more of a sharp drop off into deep water. Most of NZ's diving can be done below 10m, with more of the deeper weedline species 10-20 max. If someone can dive to 15m, they will tick off most species. I haven't speared a flounder yet! will have to tick that one off! glad the quality is coming out ok!
