    All of you complaining about how Tati said she didn't enjoy the foundation you use everyday... she made a disclaimer. Just because a product doesn't work for her doesn't mean it doesn't work for you.
    Calm down.
    Thanks for the awesome video, Tati! Very informing :)

      Emily Lacey the only foundation that was ever my shade was Armani's and that's $80, so whenever I wear drugstore it always looks like I'm trying to be tan even though I'm wearing the lightest shade possible

      Emily Lacey when women can't find foundations that fit them because they look either too grey or too orange you're most likely a olive undertone ex1 foundation is amazing for olive undertones

      there is a new brand called No7 they use this machine it literally takes pic of ur skin and tells you ur shade in there huge line and their shades are huge all the way to the darkest skin tones and if ur a woman of color i think its cool that this line not only carries shades for them but options just like they do for lighter skin tones. your sure to find ur shade and its lovely on the skin

      Katie Nydam I tried to love Pro Glow, having dry skin I was recommended it. It exaggerated my pores sooooo bad. My boyfriend who doesn't know anything really about make up even pointed it out to me. It sat on my skin, and did not work with me. I ended up giving it to a friend, saying it just wasn't for my skin, and it didn't work for her either for similar reasons. It's all different for people. :)

      Beautyandthe Brooke I think it really depends on a lot of factors with this. Because I don't mind it (it's the only foundation in my makeup kit right now because I haven't had the chance to shop) but I have a hell of a time blending it out to a nice finish half the time. I'm probably the only person whose Holy Grail is the Rimmel Stay Matte. As a girl with oily/combination skin, it keeps me matte, but not too matte. I still feel like it looks very natural to me. And as an acne sufferer, it gives me AMAZING coverage and it doesn't break me out. Plus it doesn't oxidize on me. And the best part? It does all that for me and costs less than $5 where I live.

    pro-glow is my FAVORITE drug store foundation. it will be your best friend if you have dry skin/patches. I have patches and it doesn't stick to them or separate around them or around my nose. it also doesn't oxidize. of course this is all my experience with it. I have pretty sensitive skin and I don't think it's ever broken me out, but of course I take off my makeup and wash my face every night. it gives me a gloat flawless finish, and I get compliments at work all the time (I work for Ulta)

    For my pale girls: L'Oréal truematch in W1. Lightest drugstore shade I've ever found and it has a nice finish. And KatVonD has some of the lightest concealers and foundations if you're looking on the higher end side

    • @kasial7492
      @kasial7492 8 лет назад +2

      Also Manic Panic "Dreamtone" foundation is pure white and just $10 on Amazon! I mix it about 50/50 with most drugstore foundations. Kat Von D is the only brand I've ever bought that is an exact match but I don't have the money to keep repurchasing it. Buying the Manic Panic with another foundation comes out to be nearly the same price but mixing two together makes both products last a really long time.

    • @12path-o4u
      @12path-o4u 8 лет назад +3

      For me personally the loreal truematch oxidized really bad. Also broke me out, which I didn't realize for quite a while unfortunately. Buuut it's possible that the formula has changed since I used it, since that was a few years ago. Kat Von D is awesome color wise but the formula is just so heavy and doesn't wear well for me (and most people I know who have tried it). My skin isn't particularly oily nor is it particularly dry, but it looked awful after just a couple hours, no matter the primer. But I second the mixing white foundation. I really want to try out LA Girl's white foundation and concealer!

      Annabalism trumatch looked absolutely terrible on my skin. And maybe because I usually have my foundation a tad darker than my regular skin tone that's why it looked bad because it was a paler color but it looked absolutely terrible.

    All the drugstore brands are the same makers as the high end brands. So It's all pretty much the same formula. For example L'Oreal owns Lancôme. Giorgio Armani. Yves Saint Laurent etc..However, it's more about how your skin takes the formula other than the formula is made wrong. As a licensed esthetician, I always told my clients to be aware of what your skin texture is and what skin type you are as well. This will be a lot of help in choosing the right foundation. Another thing is always keep the receipt especially when purchasing a foundation at the drugstore ( because of no testers) to see how it works on your skin. Everybody is different and what works for you might not work for the next person. It's always okay to take something back if you are not satisfy for it is your precious skin that needs to be taken care of and you shouldn't have to settle for something you are unhappy with. xo

      @brittneybabeee4031 7 лет назад +6

      Talia, many stores you can! You used to not be able to, as far as I know, but companies lost more money that way. Yes, they lose money when they have to throw out used makeup products but they were losing more money by losing customers. No one wants to spend money, especially a lot of money, on makeup products and then they break you out, you're allergic to it, or the product just sucks. Not being able to return the items means that you waste your money and your less likely to buy products more often. When certain stores started accepting opened/used returns, they gained more customers and more money in a long run. Think about it, are you more likely to buy from a company who allows you to return makeup that doesn't work for you or would you rather buy from a company that doesn't allow you to return makeup that doesn't work for you and now you're out that money + the money you have to spend to buy a new makeup product every time the first one doesn't work out for you? Generally, if people are returning a specific product just because it didn't work for them, they're likely going to stay in the same store and look for another product that will.

      Lucy Lu so correct! I avoid buying makeup from any place where it's a hassle to do returns, it's just not worth the risk. Stores with excellent return policies get all my money.

    Am I the only one who absolutely hates the Maybelline fit me foundation? I bought it because it comes so pale (and I'm a snowflake, it's hard to find things light enough for me) and I read and watched soooooo many great reviews on it. But it is just so awful. First of all the "matte" one is not matte. It always feels greasy and it moves around and rubs off soooooo easily if you don't set it and even still. It has this crusty patchy gross finish. Especially on my nose which idk why, so when I use it I don't even put it on my nose I only use powder there. Maybe I'm pairing it with a bad primer but it's the WORST foundation I've ever used. Obviously other people love it so I don't know. Sorry for this long comment but I wanted to explain this somewhere!!

      Danica Laura try a different primer or a different applicator. I used to hate certain foundations but once I started applying with a damp beauty blender rather than a brush it made a huge difference. Also from one snowflake to another 😉 splurge for non drugstore foundations.. they have way lighter shades. Lancôme makes one 90W or something that's sooo white! Get samples from sephora or Macy's

    I have an idea for a video...you could start a new challenge i still dnt know what u would call it but what i came up with so far is mixed up makeup challenge...you use the eyeshadow as a liner and the blush as an eyeshadow for example. U dnt use anything for its own purpose. For the foundation maybe you use like a really light lipstick and see how u could make it work! I think it'll be really fun also beneficial if you were stuck in a place with limited makeup abd u need to do a quick look😃

      Layne X I agree, I love the pro glow. I think it gets even better looking as the day goes on, and feels light weight but packs good coverage. But I think her main issue was that it broke people out, I don't have acne prone or sensitive skin at all, Im the lucky one who hasn't had bad breaks outs since middle school. Knowing the consistancy of this foundation I could see it breaking out people with sensitive or acne prone skin.

    • @katelynhughes9298

      My pro glow is weird. I like it, but when I'm applying it from the back of my hand with my sponge, I can always see the "glow" bunching together. It's almost gritty? If I take my finger I can smooth it back out and incorporate that back into the foundation... but if it was formulated correctly, I wouldn't have to go through the trouble. I'm gonna use it up, but I doubt I will repurchase.

    • @laynex2207
      @laynex2207 8 лет назад +2

    The Rimmel mousse foundation FUCKED UP MY SKIN for months - literally months! It dried out my skin completely so I had to keep moustuising every couple of hours every day just to stop it from cracking so badly. It also left me with very angry, dry, flaky, bright red rash marks on my face about an inch away from my lips on both sides of my face, that didn't go away for 6 months! I tried everything to make it go away, different foundations like No7 and Max Factor, serums, medicated creams from the chemist, and nothing worked UNTIL I tried the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation with my normal moisturising routine and my skin cleared up within two weeks. If you have sensitive and dry skin like me I seriously recommend you try that foundation!

      Melissa Raymond I really love the pro-glow too. I don't think it's a worst by any means. It does exactly what it says it does. But I am breaking out a lot and that's not normal for me so I appreciate her at least pointing that out. I don't understand could someone please tell me. Why is makeup in America so much cheaper? I'm aware that there dollar is different to ours for example Tati said the fit me foundation costs $7.50 when I put that into the calculator thing that changed it to Australia dollars it was about $10 but we have to pay $19 I don't understand? Also is it just Australia or do many countries have this? If you know why I would love to know.

    • @mrsellingsworth
      @mrsellingsworth 8 лет назад +46

      Easy. Americans pay a higher tax on their salary than Australia. Australia's median income is higher than the US (your minimum wage is extremely higher than hours). Health insurance is cheaper in Australia (that's a huge monthly bill for me) Education is cheaper in Australia than the US, my student loan payments are killer. Vehicles are cheaper in Australia, etc. (another huge cost) Australia is an expensive place to live, but their are perks. I would pay more for make-up any day versus paying my $850+ in medical every month and being taxed to death on a lower median income. What we take for granted for being cheap, say a Coke, you are paying one of the highest prices in the nation for. You have to take the pros with the cons...

      You're welcome! It's amazing how the cost of some things fluctuate depending on where you live, then you have to look at the big picture. Then it's like "Ohh! It sucks but at least I understand why"

    • @MsGlamourcat
      @MsGlamourcat 8 лет назад +7

      You are correct on some of your points but not everything. Income taxes in Australia are very high and then there are taxes on taxes, we pay a lot of hidden taxes. Cars are most definitely not cheaper in Australia. We will generally pay 2 - 2.5 x's the price for cars compared to America. Where you got the information regarding cars from, I have no idea. Medical costs here are insane, particularly surgery and dental costs. Technology items, mobile phones, electronics, appliances, software all cost more in Australia and the cost of housing here is ridiculous! The median house price in Sydney is $1m and Melbourne is $750k.

    • @mrsellingsworth
      @mrsellingsworth 8 лет назад +2

      MsGlamourcat it depends on the car that you are purchasing. Our sales tax various where I live, but your sales tax is included in your sticker price. I can pay $5.00 after tax where I live, and my friend pay $6.25 where she lives in a different state, with the same base rate. Houses vary as well. What you can get as pretty much a mansion in parts of Texas would only afford you a 500 square foot home in New York City. Again, your incomes are higher, hence higher buying power. Still overall expensive to live there. But I'd rather spend a few extra thousand for a lifetime of makeup versus $75k for a degree.

      Bella I hated true match for a super super long time and refused to touch it. but I gave it another chance and I figured out it works best applied with a brush. and not to thick. setting spray is a must as well. drench your face in it like jeffree and then use a beauty sponge to soak up the extra moisture and press the foundation into your skin. sounds like alot but it creates a beautiful satin finish that lasts a long time.

    I have tried SOO many drugstore foundations and I always go back to the pro-glow. I had a crazy hormonal breakout 2 years ago that left me with major scarring and the pro-glow leaves my skin looking so natural and beautiful. I recommend this one for dry skin types and people who have scarring it will forever be my favorite foundation...and it has never broken me out like Tati said it did to her friends! The matte version of the pro glow is literally my worst enemy it look really bad on my face and honestly it is so matte it makes my skin look like a desert. In the end it really is what looks best on you and you have to make your own opinion on each product.

    @allyg47 8 лет назад

    Tati, I love that you state that this is just your opinion in the beginning of the video (and throughout). It is so true. What might be a horrible foundation for one person might be a holy grail for another.
    For example, on your recommendation, I tried the L'Oreal Pro Matte Foundation and it was awful! It exaggerated every single wrinkle and pore. It also clung to dry patches on my face which made me look like an old lady. And I have very oily skin so I don't know why it did that. On top of that, it turned an orange-brown color after only a few hours. I wore it to a Christmas party last year and was so embarrassed that I left the party early. I tried it a few other times after that and gave it to my mom who hated it as well. I think she ended up throwing it in the trash.
    Now the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation is awesome. In this video you say it is the worst but for me it is the best. Every time I wear it, I get compliments. I wore it today while I attended a baby shower and my grandmother asked what kind of moisturizer I use because my skin looked so great. My cousin asked if I lost weight (I've actually gained a little weight since I last saw her) and when I told her no, she said that I looked younger. This foundation is super easy to apply - I don't even use my beauty blender, just my fingers. It does a good job of covering blemishes and pores. It smooths out well and makes fine lines and wrinkles disappear. It is also build-able to where I need extra coverage. My skin never looks too oily or too dry when wearing it. It might oxidize a little bit but it's not very noticeable. This stuff is the bees knees!
    I hope you continue to do these types of videos because I love hearing your opinions about which products you hate/love even though I might not always agree with you.

    I tried the pro glow once, and I loved it.... now I'm scared to use it again. 😱 I'm scared it will be like with Born This Way from too faced, idk if anyone agrees but I used that one for a WHILE, I even bought a second bottle. Now let me tell you... I started noticing HORRIBLE texture on my cheeks... it took me SO LONG to get rid of it ... and I stopped using that foundation for that reason. Idk what else could've caused it. It got me real depressed because I never had anything like that before. Ever since I stopped using it, my skin started going back to normal.. slowly but surely.

      Valeria Olvera I tried BTW foundation once, great coverage but my husband asked me to wash my face. It was so heavy and so fake . Bottom line, I think it does not allow your face to breath which may lead to problems in future

      I think I read somewhere that bornthisway foundation actually has coconut oil in it & your skin may be sensitive to that. It's a god send for some & a breakout fest for others. Just a theory of mine 😊

      The same exact thing happened to me with the Born this Way !!

      Cailin coconut oil is actually terrible for anyone's face. It clogs your pores and can cause damage to skin over time.

    Tati great vid, but for the future could you please start putting the products you mention in the right order?

      Sally [Don't look back in anger] she didn't list the products mentioned, she listed what she is wearing in this video. Although a list of the items she was talking about would help a lot.

    Perfect timing on this video I need to shop for drug store foundation. Can you do one on drug store price foundation sticks?

    Thank you for this video, Tati! It's great to hear a detailed opinion and to see the products demonstrated, as well as having a list of alternatives!
    I know this may sound silly, but I was so happy when you gave a thumbs up to infallable pro-matte! I'm a make-up newbie, the only stuff I've used prior to buying that foundation, was a garnier BB cream and/or a ton of powder on top of it (because I really need high coverage for my own reasons, even if it leaves me looking cakey).
    And then I went into a drug-store looking to buy a proper affordable foundation. But those that I had on my list, were not being sold at the store. So instead I spent an hour and a half walking around the store, trying to found a foundation I thought looked good. Store assistants were no help at all, so I had to do it on my own. Stopped on infallible pro-matte. So far very, very happy with it!
    Sorry for the long comment, what I meant to say that it kind of feels so great to be validated like this. It was a a risky investment for someone like me and I'm glad I made the right call. I also feel like your reviews have helped me gain a better understanding of what good cosmetics need to be like, so thank you!

      I love that foundation. One of my GH foundations. Go figure. I think videos should never say good or bad with foundations because peoples skin is so different. Instead they should use the wording "suggest" for certain types of skin.

    I am a huge fan of the Loreal Pro Matte foundation, I use it daily. I got SUPER excited when they came out with the Pro Glow I just had to have it....well I got an intense allergic reaction to it after the first day I used it. It was awful, my skin looked sunburned and it was so itchy. So disappointed because I wanted to love it.

      Meghan Marino that makes a lot of sense, i've been using it for a couple months and a few days ago my skin got really patchy and had red spots and was also itchy ..im guessing that's why. Sucks bc i like the foundation loads

      lost girl laila I know, it sucks but apparently we are alone lol. I liked it too other than it didn't hold up too well in the heat. Some people have told me it might have to do with the kind of sunscreen that's in it as to why it is prone to causing irritation.

      Violet Eleanor I started out using Tru Match and I've been in love with Loreal ever since middle school I believe lol. The Pro Glow really messed up my skin for a while.

    You're definitely right about the Maybelline Pro-Matte. I have it because one of my co-workers recommended it to me and I love it. I've been using it for a long time now.
