Andy, I think your dog caricature is really good.
Thanks for your information on battery testing.
I had my local Mitsubishi stealership give me an assessment of the battery condition yesterday at a tad under 90,000km, they have lodged a warranty claim with Mitsubishi Australia because the range is substantially reduced from new. They recorded a range of only 25km. the display showed a range of 32km this morning after an overnight charge.
I'll keep you posted on the outcome. I'm expecting to hear from Mitsubishi within a week.

    Great as always.

Had the car serviced yesterday and found out I have 31.2 ah by the Mit measurement which is just over 80% it was interesting another PHEV was in having the triple procedure under warranty as directed by Mitsubishi AUSTRALIA they said I could ring them to find out how the procedure went. This was done in Geelong I’m interested in contacting the guy in Geelong to see if we can help each other

little tip: if you are not interested in costs in the MMCS, you can also program 1 as a cost (1$, 1€, 1£). So you can directly read the charged kWh without conversion.
Apropos: is there an explanation for the difference between MMCS and the Hundie? Or is this again optimally measured?
I find the 15% very bold and a small deviation of this value has a big leverage in the accuracy of the final result. Suggestion: all those who can read the car values with an app and watchdog and can measure the EVSE or wattmeter at the same time could make a recalculation with which average loss the effective battery charge and the wattmeter fit together. With such a published empirical value then all other interested ones could work.
We have the opportunity and will try it out. I will be back shortly.

Hello again. Our PHEV is connected to a charging socket which stores the power consumption every minute. We have examined our charging history over the last month. On an average of 12 charges the meter shows a 12.3% higher power consumption than the Whatchdog.
So at least in our case 12% (or 1/8) would fit well for all conversion losses.

It depends a bit on what speed you're charging, 6A, 10A or 16A.

That makes sense. In the above cases, the charger consumed 1800 watts or 7.5A.

Coincidentally, yesterday before seeing your latest video, I decided to estimate the capacity of my battery, using the built in charging cost (I don't have a WatchKangooroo or any of the other gizmos). The only difference is that I used AC, not heat, to drain the battery and force the engine to kick in. This morning I checked the charging cost and it works out to 8.7 kWh, which divided by 9.0 gives 96% SOH. This is probably as expected for the 2018 PHEV with only 8200 miles and 11 months. I also got a bump in GOM from 25 to 30 miles but that may be due to hybrid driving the day before.

Great video, Andy. I do wonder though what to make of your Dog output. 9.1/9.0 would give you 101% SOH , no?

Yeah, it's only a rough calculation and does not make sense all the time. As I said in the description, it's good to keep some track and collect some data over time to get a better view on the battery.

I did this on my 2014 model with 200k kilometres I got 8.5 kWh from the evolution it showed 42km on the gasometer I cant get the phevwatchdog working I charged at 6 amp overnight took 7 hours 12 minutes
I am getting car serviced tomorrow and they are doing a report of the amp hours of the battery
No brake maintenance as yet btw

Hi Andy, but why shows me the dog sometimes the same kWh after charging as my MMCS and when the battery rests for 1-2 hours about 10% less?
Why you are always calculate 15% Charging losses? Could also be only 5% oder 10%?
    With only 10% 10,19kWh MMCS - 10% = 9,171kWh = dog 9,1kWh!
The max. possible charge should be 9,55kWh
    And 9,17 : 9,55 = 96,02%
The BMU starts a hot engine at 22% but a cold engine kicks in at 25-28% and when it's below zero° the cold engine starts at 33-36%.
Below 60km/h it's a lower SoC when the ICE kicks in.
So we have different rules :
    Cold Engine
    >+15°: ~25%-27%
    0°: ~30%-33%
    +15°: ~22%-25% (

Got the base model. It did not come with turtle mode and I didn't wanted to pay extra for it at the time. ;)
