- Many thanks to my brother, he managed to have a couple of plates laser cut for me so that I could mount the Erbauer router I'm using in this project.
This is more of a how to insert a plate into a plywood router table plane/base.
In the previous router table video I mounded the router with a couple of inter screws just for proof of concept. However you have to appreciate the thickness of the table material and the base of the router, adds up to quite a bit and makes it difficult to use most cutters without vibration, if at all.
This plate is made from 2mm stainless steel and is plenty thick and strong enough to take the weight of the router and anything on top of it without bending and altering the plane.
The hole in the centre is 60mm diameter. I tried to keep it as small as possible while still allow room for bigger cutters.
I also have a second plate with a hole big enough to accommodate a raised panel bit which will have another router mounted to it.

Hi Sam, congratulations for your work and design, for both this last one and the previous one. As I have the same Bosch GST saw and would like to imitate your insert for the router, would like to know if, after use, you suggestr your previous design ot this latter one. Thanks
In my original video where I made the fence and insert for the saw, the mounting I used was temporary. The board I used was 3/4" ply, so you have to think, you've lost that much already from the maximum depth of cut you can make with your router.
This way is a lot more useful as it makes it easier to change bits and set cutting depth, as you can simply lift it out of the table.
The plate was constructed from 2mm stainless steel which gives a strong, rigid and hard wearing surface.
Hi, is that a Jet pillar drill?
My erbauer router has a trigger and button to run. How do you make it work hands free?
qazxsw qazxsw I purchased some remote control inline switches. they're about £10 for 3 and they're just plug-in units so you don't have to rewire anything. quite common on eBay. I used a cable tie to hold the trigger open on the router so it was controlled by the remote.
Hi, How are you controlling the router height? Is it just manually raising and lowering and then locking in place?
Yes.
Hi, do you know what size the screws are that hold the baseplate?
Off the top of my head I think I used standard M5 machine screws.
It's 4 years since u uploaded this, can u give me an update on how reliable is this router? thx!
Its still going!
What are the dimensions of the steel plate Sam?
Sam, Your fingers came very close to being damaged, more care required bud. thanks for the video though .
Are you satisfied with the quality of this router?
MrTomb666 For what it cost, absolutely. it's a workhorse. Plenty of power behind it and adaptability with the 1/2 and 1/4 collets. Don't expect a festool but it's certainly a decent bit of kit and well above expectations when set up well.
@@SammyInnit us it the 380? 2100w? Bought that one this week not used yet
@@kevinhancock4064 I believe it is yeah. Seems to work well enough!
@@SammyInnit did u make that plate ? I could do with making a bench myself Thanks yeah looks tidy
@@kevinhancock4064 I had it laser cut in 2.5mm stainless by a metalworks.
Weird guy
It's not something a shelf stacker would really understand so I can see why you'd feel like everyone else is odd.
