Great oiling tip, there's also a oil filter under the button. I would recommend changing the filter every 1000 cuts, at the same time also do a blade rotation with blade tip flick at least 10 flicks. During flicks if you hear a echo then rewax the tip flick bender guard under the blade flange. I love my scissors and use them daily on silk.
Oh, Miss Brittany! What great tips. Have been sewing since I was about ten and I learn new things every time I watch. I am guilty of all these bad habits except using my fabric shears for paper. Thank you for your great videos.
I've been sewing a long time and I didn't know the some of the things your mentioned. I'm going oil my Gingher scissors this weekend. I love those "petrol" colored scissors. I'm gonna buy them when they are back in stock. Thanks for sharing.
WOW, this is something I’ve never given any thought to. Although not LDH, I recently purchased some “good $cissor$”. Now I know how to care for them. Thank you Brittney❣️
Hi Brittany!! Wonderful vlog.. Deeply appreciate you bringing this valuable information to everyone.. I’ve never air cut.. I love the Prism Scissors..... 💜💜💜🧵🧵🧵
As usual an excellent video by you, BRITANNY J JONES! I'm going right to the LDH website and have a look around. About the only tip I already knew was not to cut paper w/ the sewing scissors. The rest was all great, new information. Yea!
Guilty of air cutting. I need to see how they feel !! Lol. Thanks Brittany. I haven't been well but always watching you!! Blessings to you and yours sweetheart!!
I'm afraid my hubby abuses the Gingher tailor points, but I have several of those lying around in different rooms for convenience. I mean really, he will reach for them to open clamshell packaging! They still work well for what I need them to do. I won't let him near the Gingher fabric shears.
Brittany use those shears prism shear with your name on them! If you really want to save them, frame them in a shadow box and hang it in you sewing room. Please please please take them out of the box and put them on display so you can see them! You deserve to honor yourself and you accomplishments and the company for honoring and respecting you and your talent! Those shears are like a golden globe or Emmy award, or MVP trophy 🏆 would you put those in a box or on display?
This was very informative. My shears were a gift and they came in their own zippered case. Included with them was a pot of lubrication for the button and the button tool. I have always been mindful of my equipment........very expensive and made to last........so I do regular maintenance on my own equipment. Thank you for sharing as maybe others did not know why or how to do this. 🥰
Omg not olive oil! It goes rancid and oxides super fast. Some mineral oil (clipper oil or baby oil) or wd40 or some kind of lubricating oil is what you need. Just put a drop or two on the joints, open and close your scissors a few times and wipe off excess. That’s it.
And also neither left-handed pinking shears nor these beautiful prism shears. So frustrating, because I want to be offered the same tools as right-handed persons! This leaves me an unhappy left-handed sewist as always!
@@zyp848 I can confirm this. They told me their left-handed products have been delayed by the current situation! Hopefully soon, I have my fingers crossed!
should use sewing machine oil or knife oil. Olive oil will lubricate but eventually go rancid and its really too viscous. Also, you don’t want olive oil transferring to your fabric.
I wonder if the "don't use your fabric sheers on paper" claim has been taken through the scientific method to report some tangible data. I was under the impression that usage in general dulls all blades, so ... 🤷.

These are very valuable tips. I didn’t know about cutting air. It’s so hard not to test them out in the air.
Sew Me Kris B right! You gotta test them out lol. I’m gonna restrain myself from doing it though!
Thank you. Never thought about oiling, I always worried about dulling over time, thank you again.
I've been sewing a long time and I didn't know the some of the things your mentioned. I'm going oil my Gingher scissors this weekend. I love those "petrol" colored scissors. I'm gonna buy them when they are back in stock. Thanks for sharing.
Just happen to of purchased a pair of LDH shears today. Thank you for the excellent maintenance tips. Much appreciated.
I never thought of oiling scissors, but of course it makes sense. Just like oiling the sewing machine or any other machinery. Thanks for posting.
WOW, this is something I’ve never given any thought to. Although not LDH, I recently purchased some “good $cissor$”. Now I know how to care for them. Thank you Brittney❣️

I have totally been doing a lot of the don't do list.
Oh my..What beautiful scissors! I love the color! They could easily start a scissor fetish.
Thank you for the tips. Yes, I’ve been guilty of air cutting. NO MORE.
I was so impressed with the presentation and their products, I ordered the Prism pinking shears! Thanks again.
I think I’ll try this but use a Q-tip to apply. Thanks for the oiling tip.😃
I am so bad at air cutting. I love the sound of a good sharp scissor air cut. Ugh.
Who would have thought “air cutting” was a thing? Thanks for all the great information!
Guilty of air cutting. I need to see how they feel !! Lol. Thanks Brittany. I haven't been well but always watching you!! Blessings to you and yours sweetheart!!
Great tips. I'm guilty of air cutting as well.

💁🏿♀️ guilty of air cutting but I have oiled them and I do take great care of my Guggenheim scissors...I love them. Thanks for the great info! 🥰
Thanks Brittany I was just making an LDH order and thought I'd check for discount codes and there you were!
This was great information and yes I'm guilty of air cutting. Now that I know better I'll do better. 😀
Looking for new scissors, great tips. This leg scissors are gorgeous...are they nice and sharp/good quality?
Thanks for the information. I have been mismanaging my shears🤣 I will do better ✨
Pricilla Cheeseboro we both gonna do better lol thanks for watching!
Now I’m wondering if we should have separate scissors for natural fibers and man-made fibers. 🤔 Thanks Brittany, have a great weekend.
Will definitely check out LDH.

Thank you Brittany for the information very informative. I am guilty of air cutting.
Hi Brittany are the any for left handed people who sew?
I’m going to go apologize to my shears 😭
How often do you think we should be oiling our shears?
This was very informative.

What about getting them sharpened? There's a cobblers near me that offers scissor sharpening...should I use them?
Wow. This are beautiful.

Awesome video!!
Do you know if this will work with Gingher scissors?
Great video, I had no idea. Didn't know about that company either!
I use WD40. Dry cutting is so deeply engraved in my subconscious. Like clicking tongs! I do it when I pick them up.
only one left handed model :(
And also neither left-handed pinking shears nor these beautiful prism shears. So frustrating, because I want to be offered the same tools as right-handed persons! This leaves me an unhappy left-handed sewist as always!
Last time I asked they were working on more left-handed models. I think they said maybe late 2020.
Hopefully! But still, the left-handed model is way more expensive. Not very inclusive in this aspect...
@@zyp848 I can confirm this. They told me their left-handed products have been delayed by the current situation! Hopefully soon, I have my fingers crossed!
I am guilty of air cutting no more lol and I too would like the Prism ones in Lefties.

Air cutting! Guilty

Yes, guilty😳😳😳
Короче говоря, просто окуните ножницы в ведро с маслом и хорошенько встряхните!
