I remember my parents arguing that they didn't want me at my age to see a witch movie. But then one of them found out it was made by Disney, so I was allowed to go. I'd never heard of Bette Midler before that movie. NOW... Well she's simply unforgettable! She definitely gained me as a fan after her performance as Winifred Sanderson.
Marissa Hammer I was probably the same age too. However I saw her in London last summer and to see this live I felt like a child and was definitely more than excitement! =]
I was 4 when the movie came out, I've been into witches since then, we got the movie but was with subtitles, so actually this movie helped me to learn English :)

Bette Midler as an iconic artist. why all the crazy costume changes? twenty-pieces orchestra? computer animation, fireworks and smoke - aren't the songs still enough??? i dunno. it's not for me, obviously. if it is for you, then by all means - please don't allow me to stop you. it's just that in my opinion the songs are more than enough: a single spotlight on her singing _The Rose_ is for me twenty _times_ as theatrical as all that cold, computerized bedazzlement. but what do i know? you're probably right.
