I just found this today! It is totally awesome! I loved and still love Whiteheart! I used to take my young son to their concerts when they came to Houston. I am now 70 years old and I still listen to their music and dance before the Lord ( well, ok I rock out with the Lord). Rick’s voice - absolutely the most gifted singer. And his energy…. unbelievable!! Great memories, I will always love Whiteheart! Got me through a lot of dark times❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼✝️✝️❤️❤️
Thank you for watching and commenting, Barbara; we are grateful! I was able to see Whiteheart live in 1990 during the Powerhouse tour. I vividly remember Rick's energy you've mentioned! I sure wish I could have seen them more than once. Thank you for sharing from your journey, and I wish you The Lord's blessings!
-Kent
Freedom was the CCMs version of Joshua Tree. That album is absolutely perfect from stat to finish and Rick perfectly melded into one of the greatest line ups ever to be put on stage. Thank you Rick!
No doubt about it: Freedom is a great album, and Rick is a great front man! Thank you for watching and commenting, Benjamin! -Kent
So enjoyed this! Whiteheart was instrumental in my walk with Christ in the beginning days. I worked at Olive Garden for a summer and Whiteheart was played and talked about when I was doing dishes. My first date with my current wife was a Tales of Wonder tour concert in Orlando. Thanks for the obedience and music.
Blessings, Paul! Thank you for watching and for sharing from your journey! -Kent
Petra, Guardian, Whiteheart, Bride and Whitecross. These guys were my bands when I was a little teen, and they are still my bands for today.
All great bands and all part of the teen years (and beyond) of my life. In hindsight, my life has a great soundtrack to it because of these bands and more. All glory to The Lord! Thank you for watching and commenting, HighwayLand! -Kent
@AREA 312 Rock & Metal Vodcast thanks for the interview😍
Great interview! So interesting to hear as a big fan of Whiteheart. My favs are Freedom, Powerhouse, and Highlands.
Thank you for watching and commenting, Mark; please know we are appreciative! The albums you mentioned are among my personal favorites as well! -Kent
I am a born again believer, love Jesus with all of my heart...but grew up listening to rock. So when I found out that Christian rock was a thing I dove in head first. Whiteheart is my all time favorite..so I love this interview and I must confess that I crank INSIDE as soon as it starts. But having said that, as much as I love all of their songs, Desert Rose is my favorite song of theirs.
Thanks for watching, commenting and sharing from your journey, Beverly. We are grateful! Inside is certainly a great album... And Desert Rose from Powerhouse is certainly a great song! It's a win/win! Wishing you The Lord's continued blessings! -Kent
Really enjoyed this interview! Whiteheart was one of my all-time favs. I saw them a handful of times during the Powerhouse and Tales of Wonder albums...
(current South Bend, IN resident)
Thank you for watching and commenting, Anthony! We are grateful that you enjoyed the interview! It was an honor to have Rick on as our guest. Wishing you The Lord's blessings! -Kent
Thanks so much for this and the other interviews, they really are a blessing. I love White Heart and the Rik, Ric, Rhiq years. Emergency Broadcast is a fav, and i adore Redemption, but yes, Freedom, Power House, and Tales of Wonder are special, as is Highlands. Even if some albums are stronger than others, every album has gems, and hearing his talk of his journey was wonderful and sad too.
Thank you for checking out Rick's episode! We are grateful! The Rick years were especially great, and as you mentioned: gems on every album! It certainly was a privilege to speak with one of the best frontmen around in Christian rock! Wishing you The Lord's continued blessings, and Happy Resurrection Day 3/31/24! -Kent
Long time fan from Adelaide, Australia. First heard WH thru getting Hotline cassette in 85 and followed them their whole career after.. So many great songs! Freedom my favourite album followed by Tales of Wonder... Great to see Rick chat again...
Thanks for watching and commenting, MournfulMystic; we are grateful! Hotline was the first WH album that I totally got into from the earliest days of my Christian rock journey. Freedom probably takes the cake with me, but that album string from Freedom through Highlands sure was a great run. Inside rocked as well! Blessings! -Kent
I was fortunate to have made it to a few Whiteheart shows back in the day. I was at the show in Grand Rapids Michigan for the Power House tour that was shot that night for a VHS release and I made it onto the video. I also was able to make the trip down to Brentwood Tennessee for the 30th anniversary Freedom concert in June of 2019. Gordon Kennedy was in the middle of touring with Garth Brooks during that time, but gave Gordon the night off to fly back to Tennessee to do the show. What an unforgettable night that was! I recorde a goog majority of it on my phone. Thanks for doing this interview. I’m a huge fan and very much enjoyed it.
Thank you for watching and commenting, Kurt; we are grateful! How wonderful that you have a moment in time captured on film via the Power House tour! Also very cool that you were able to see the band again during Freedom's 30 year anniversary concert! It was a distinct pleasure to be able to interview Rick! Blessings! -Kent
I'm one of the few who LOVES Redemption...the vocal arrangements are sublime. It gets regular rotation along with Freedom, Powerhouse, Tales and Highlands. Thanks Rick for the interview and I'm glad you have a job where your heart is always in it. Blessings!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Brett! I really enjoy Redemption, too, for the melodic hooks the songs possess. Blessings, brother! -Kent
Saw them in 91-92 with Mylon… phenomenal show
No doubt that was great! Thank you for watching and commenting! -Kent
Oh yeah, I saw them twice, on the Powerhouse tour with DC Talk in Germany and on the highlands Tour at the flevo festival in Netherlands. I wish I could have seen them in their classic freedom line up, which I think was one of their best, along with Gordon Kennedy and Tommy Sims on bass.
Very cool you were able to see Whiteheart on those tours! I was only able to see them on the Powerhouse tour in 1990. It was awesome and I am grateful! Blessings! -Kent
As soon as I sat down to my computer this morning with my giant cup O' coffee I put this on and watched it. 😁 Awesome interview with a lot of cool information and insights.
Hey, Brother Scott, thanks for the continued friendship and support! I do hope the coffee was good while you watched - I'm in need of a giant mug myself right now and think I'll head that direction! Blessings, brother! -Kent
Rick, the best part about seeing Whiteheart live, is feeling like you are looking in my eyes.. 5 concerts.♥️
what a awesome interview! Rick was intimate and personal. What a great man! Thanks Rex & Kent for a great interview, God Bless
Thank you for watching and commenting, Terry! It truly was an honor to have gleaned an interview with Rick. Blessings, brother! -Kent
Awesome interview guys! Have always loved WhiteHeart and Ric's voice is just amazing! Got to see them when we played at Creation Fest together back in the 90's. Was a huge treat! And thanks for the props Rex! Glad we were able to get it fixed for you!
Mal! Hey, brother, thanks for watching and commenting! So very cool that The Brave and Whiteheart performed at Creation Fest together! I am so glad The Brave will be performing at Immortal Fest (Part 2) in 2023! Rex was so grateful that you were able to help him with his computer issue. Blessings, brother! -Kent
Yes Malcolm!!! You are the man!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@AREA312RockMetalVodcast yes, we’re so excited!!
@@rexsmetzer awww… thanks brother!!
Anytime my friend!!! 😇😇😇
White Heart is absolutely one of my favorite Christian rock bands; the list includes Petra and AD as well. My life for sure would have been different if I hadn't had these albums in high school and college to keep me on track. Vital Signs, Don't Wait for the Movie and Freedom are my favorite albums. I did get to see White Heart at Penn State, I think it must have been the Emergency Broadcast tour. I would love to see some re-releases of the early albums, so I can replace my worn out vinyl and cassettes!
Thank you for watching and sharing from your journey! We are grateful! Indeed, Whiteheart (White Heart) is a fantastic band! Petra and AD are also great! Boone's Overstock has the three earliest White Heart albums remastered on CD. The link is below. Wishing you The Lord's blessings! -Kent

So appreciate Whiteheart! I wore out listening to every release!
Thanks for watching, Gary! Yes, indeed, they were a great band! Blessings! -Kent
I would sing "He loves you despite the things you do"
What an awesome interview . Thanks so much Kent and Rex ! - .. Whiteheart were a huge influence in my early days as a Christian. Thank you Rick ! Would love to see the albums released on vinyl that never made it to vinyl the first time around !
Thank you for watching and commenting! The vinyl releases would be great as you mentioned - I'd also appreciate some quality CD remasters of Freedom through Redemption. Blessings! -Kent
White heart is one of my favorite CCM bands, and they hit just as I started my own walk with Christ. I was heartbroken when they stopped recording. Thanks for the interview.
Thank you for watching and commenting, Bill! Yes, I wish Whiteheart would/could give us one more album - such a great band blessing us with great music! -Kent
Dogs of Peace was Gordon Kennedy as well. Speak is a pretty great album I have to say. Rick was also on a song a few years ago called "Do It Afraid" by a female singer. Good stuff
I remember Dogs of Peace, Overkast! I had "Speak" when it came out in the 90s. Blessings! -Kent
Her name was Elizabeth South
Wow! Another great interview! White heart is another one of my favorite bands, it is hard to even pick which album is my favorite, Rick’s voice so good and distinct you can tell when he is singing like on Bride’s “I miss the rain” song! He is also featured on the Dogs of Peace album “heel” with the song “ He is the light of the world” with also Joel Hanson from pfr. Also 3 guys from white heart and John Schlitt had a band called “the Union of sinners and saints” they have original music but also do some white heart and petra songs! You guys are great for bringing these musicians on, I can’t wait to see who you bring on next!
Thank you for watching and commenting, Al! We are certainly grateful! Indeed, Rick has a one-of-a-kind voice. I wish Whiteheart would/could release a new album! Blessings! -Kent
Whiteheart was an awesome band. I compare them to Toto because the whole band were pretty much session players. Rick has quite a set of pipes. Always a great singer and frontman. He comes off as a nice person too. Another great interview!
We were certainly honored that Rick granted us an interview. Indeed, he is a great singer and frontman! Thank you for watching and commenting; we are grateful! Wishing you The Lord's blessings! -Kent
This is great. I’ve been a fan since Freedom and great duo to have witnessed the concerts and my heart swells to hear how blessed the guys have been. Nice job on this interview.
Thank you for watching and commenting, Scott; we are grateful you enjoyed the interview! Yes, I think Rick became a little choked up at one point when recalling the good times. I almost got a little choked up, too. The music and Message that Whiteheart shared was such a blessing! -Kent
Whiteheart is a great band! Great interview! I got into them in 1986 during the Don't Wait for the Movie period and I have every album since then on CD and Vital Signs on cassette. Similar to you Kent I like the heavier bands but Whiteheart has created some great songs over the years from the rockers to the ballads. I also found Redemption a hard album to get into and still do but that has some great songs as well.
Thanks for watching, Soldier777! Yes, I'm primarily a hard rock to metal music guy, but Whiteheart has always been my go-to band when not quite in that metal mood. They are extremely talented, and they weren't paint-by-numbers rock. Redemption has aged very well with me as time has progressed. It was an honor that Rick opted to grant us an interview. Blessings, brother! -Kent
Whiteheart Hotline was my very first music purchase. Was 12 years old and my mom compared the lyrics to a Petra album and said “these guys mentioned Jesus more than Petra - so you can get it”. I don’t think that Whiteheart put out any bad music at any time. I saw them at least four times in concert and they were way better live than on recording. Can’t wait to sing along with them in glory - praising our Lord. Great interview and thanks again for doing these Rex and Kent.
The song “You Gotta Be a Believer” from the Hotline album is still my #1 favorite song.
Thank you for sharing from your personal journey, and that's very cool that Hotline was your very first purchase! I vividly remember getting that album on cassette, and I felt that they were beginning to up the ante with songs such as the title track, Heroes and Keep Fighting the Fight. As for "You Gotta Be a Believer", as soon as I read your post about the song, that chorus immediately came to my mind in all of its catchiness! That's also funny about the band being measured according to the "Petra scale"! 🤣 Great story and thank you again for sharing! Blessings! -Kent
We are his hands is actually the last song on Vital Signs :)
Most definitely! I'll never forget that.
, BLA BLA BLA, white heart got hooked on painpills
