    Interesting how there hasn't been any trades for the Tigers. Trades have always been a way to build a ballclub, but, it seems the Tigers have no stomach for trades. I know, there's a lot of time before spring training, Saw this off-season last year and you begin to wonder: Why won't the Tigers trade to get better?

    Making a trade or low price signing are the only routes the front office will go with the Baez contract and what's left on the Miguel Cabrera contract

    Hey Scott. Don't think I'm crazy or say I'm stupid, but i habe an idea to give you hope on Alex Bregman. Ok? Throw into the package Detroit offers him a paid tenured subcription of OMAHA STEAKS!!!! 💫💫 He will go for that because he thinks it's clever! Good, too. I bet he'll really go for that! ❤️ Plus, he'd probably want to start a Scott Bentley/Virgil Green fan club! What do you think? 😁

    Harris said more spending happens when the core is in place, well when 1st, ss,3rd is not in place the core is not in place. Things still need to be determined before going all in on a free agent and Mcgonigle could be the 3rd baseman similar to Lou Whitaker initially being intended for 3rd base, Baez and Tork need to be looked at again once and for all, so I get Harris not spending big yet and Im usually on the opposite side of the spending issue. I would like to see Santander signed, he has 12 errorless games at 1st base and is a top RH hitter. Sign him and sort out later where he plays- its a good problem. Bregamn is only worth a one ot two yr deal- hes regressing- poor walk rate last year. Starling Marte is horrible and regressing. Canha 2.0

      The tigers as a whole had a -13 DRS at third base last year. You need to solidify that position going into next year and bregman does that for you. Veteran leadership and has been to numerous world series and plays GG third base. Bregman is a good hitter and hasnt even struck out 100 times in his career in a full season. Last year was the only year in the last two years where he's struck out more than he's walked and even 44 walks to 84 strikeouts is really good in today's age of baseball. Bregman would be a good fit not only at third, but he would also balance the tigers out by giving them a right handed hitter and a hitter that doesn't strikeout much at all which this team desperately needs. Hes no where near canha 2.0 either. Bregman is a way better hitter. That's a terrible comparison.

    • @chrisczech9409
      @chrisczech9409 Месяц назад +1

      @donbaker3993 the core is already mostly here and the clock is ticking on these players. They've proven they can make the postseason even with the crazy luck they had, but now it's time to solidify the roster more and get some offensive help.

    • @We-to9gp
      @We-to9gp 29 дней назад

      Agreed...plus, at some point, we are going to have several players from this young core who will need to be signed. Giving that money away for a long term contract for one or two players, makes it much harder to sign 5 or 6 players to cheaper long term contract...similar to Colt Keith's 28 million dollar deal. I would rather see them lock the younger core players into the same type of low cost contracts. For instance, with the 200 million dollars that is reportedly required to land Bregman, the Tigers could also give Greene, Carpenter, Meadows, Jobe, McGonigle, and Clark 30 million contracts extensions each. I'd prefer see that happen instead!

    • @chrisczech9409
      @chrisczech9409 29 дней назад +1

      @We-to9gp mcgonigle, jobe and clark are unproven talents still in the majors. There's no reason to give them extensions at this time. I'm for giving riley an extension or carp, but Meadows needs to prove he can hit through the year unlike the first half of 24. Giving those guys an extension doesn't solve your third base issue though. Vierling isn't the answer there nor is Jung. They have over 90 million dollars available and a glaring hole at third base. Signing bregman wouldn't impact anything when they have the money to spend. I love how people complain how cheap they are and that they don't spend money and yet there just telling them not to spend on free agents like bregman who is a righty hitter, a gold glove defender at third and a veteran leader which is what this team needs. Seen the same discussion with others thats not bregman either. They have to spend money to bring in hitters to supplement this core. You can't hope for the same magic to happen again next year. It's just very unlikely to happen again due to how crazy those odds were. This core needs more bats desperately around them and even doing so there is still money to extend players like Carp, Meadows or Greene.

    I have an unorthodox idea. Trade for Bellinger. I know he’s a lefty, but he hits lefties well (and that’s all that matters). He could platoon with Tork, if Tork plays well, Cody could play full time in the outfield. If Tork sucks. Cody could play first full time. Cody has very high impact potential and the cubs are shopping him, so he should come at a fair price especially since they just acquired Tucker.

    My opinion they should keep doing short deals for undervalued players I think Bregman would be fine because the winning culture he brings especially when your paying for a few good years and bad if he can improve team wit culture sure but to pay anyone just too satisfying the internet is crazy I would trade Skubal at some point

    Scottie, your feelings are right on. The kitty cats will either sign a low budget guy for first base ort just go with Tork. This organization is a joke. Unfortunately, the good fans will suffer and they should show their displeasure by not attending any games. I do not agree that we have time with potential signings of Skubal, Greene, etc. Illitch will not spend the money necessary to keep talent from leaving. Ray

      They were in the playoffs this year, and actually won a playoff game series. Yet you miss that somehow? Other than that...this organization is a joke (sic)! It just goes to show that some people are never pleased, regardless of the positives. Entitlement is a mental decease.

    The 200 million it's probably going to take to lure Bregman is probably not going to be worth it, tho he is a very good player. He's better than Matt Vierling, but over 20 million/year better? Spread the money out a bit more, or make a trade.

    At this point, we have to assume that spending big money is not in the cards this season. I suspect that this may all be due to the Bally fiasco. The money the team receives from the TV rights, pays for most of the players' salaries. The Tigers, along with several other teams have been screwed financially by this mess. Yes, we can all say that Ilitch has tons of money that he can use to pay players with, but we have to keep in mind that he is a very successful businessman. That said, he runs his businesses as separate entities (i.e. Little Caesars, The Tigers, Fox Theater, etc.). All of his money does not come from one pot. Simply taking money from one of his successful ventures and transferring it to another cannot, or will not happen. Therefore, since we know that the Tigers are run as a separate business, the money to buy players with, comes solely from the revenues and profits generated by the Tigers organization...not by Little Caesars...not by the Fox Theater, etc. The is no way that Ilitch will bring his whole empire down just so we can be happy with the team that he should put on the field for us. It's his team, his money, and his skin in the game. As fans, most of us have no real understanding or grasp of what the complexities are of running a large business like the Tigers entails. None of us have any idea of what the Tiger's profits are, or the operating costs, the insurances and legal challenges, etc., are. Therefore, based on all of this, my conclusion is that until the Tigers are on more solid and profitable footing when it comes to TV rights, etc., we will not see them go on the big spending sprees that we enjoyed under his father, Mike.

      @@We-to9gpstop pretending to sound smart. Illitch is one of the richest owners in baseball. Furthermore, they don’t need to turn a profit yearly to be solvent . Like real estate, mlb teams appreciate in value over time. Finally, the Tigers were like 23rd in payroll while being like the 10th largest market. You are truly clueless, if money was tight, they wouldn’t have spent 30m on a new scoreboard that people don’t care about.
