About this video:
My cat has been sick and is unable to go through her spaying surgery. In the meantime she has been through a couple of heat cycles. since there are tomcats / male cats roaming outside the house, her cycles can last quite long and become very intense. Even when all the windows and doors are locked, the last time she was in heat, it lasted almost 3 weeks which almost drove me insane! I am exhausted, had sleepless nights.
Through online recommendation, Ive been giving her more attention, playtime and petting. Although there are days where playtime did not even deter her from yowling/caterwauling. There are suggestions of acupressure which I've tried as a last resort but doesn't usually work.
Since she seem to be really uncomfortable, most of the time, its a lot of petting and giving her lots of attention through the day and night.
Calm my cat in heat with belly rubs
At last, by accident, giving her belly rubs or ngpelvic rubs/ rubs that go from belly to her pelvis area has seem to soothe her quite a bit. She stops yowling and also give lots of appreciative meows and slow blinks. I believe the heat from the rubs and the massage comforts the sore in her pelvic area. I would thinka heating pad while massaging her would be very beneficial. Sometimes the belly rubs last 10 minutes before she falls asleep.
I also once put her in a warm bath and she quiet down when usually she hates baths. She needs to be held in the bath and reassured many times. Most of the time, when the heat cycle is not at its peak, belly rubs work. The intensity of the rubs depends on the intensity of her heat. She also has now learn to love bellyrubs even when she's not in heat!

My cat is whole black, so she sweats a lot. When she's resting, I'm just taking some moisturized with cold water towel and I'm kinda "petting her with that towel, then her paws, and belly at the end. By the time I'll stop doing that, the towel won't be as cold as it was at the beginning, so she likes to lay her head on it :D.

Friendly reminder that a cat's genitals are NOT between its legs, really. Touching a cat there is more like around/just under the belly button. The areas you don't want to touch are under the tail and higher/more back than where this person is touching in the video
So doing this is NOT sexual in any way, it's just massaging the soreness in her abdomen, not sexually stimulating her. Even though heats aren't equivalent to periods, it'd be more like massaging the lower belly of a woman on her period to relieve menstrual cramps

@@Flanneryschickens I don't know about medicines but I do know that some come in the form of liquid. I've given my cats those when they got skin infection and to feed it I mixed it with a little wet food, job complete and they are healthy now

Mau Mao the Rescue Kitten Yeah, I would definitely set up a play date with Mau Mau! 🥺❤️ My Mittens is so sweet and as far as I see the nearest vet that is affordable isn’t open so we will have to play the waiting game. Normally she gets riled up about every 6-8 weeks so let’s hope she’ll be alright until then.

That actually worked! Wow... My cat got a lot calmer after an intense massage. She still got the "in heat" meow, but at least she's sitting in a chair now giving herself a bath.

My 5 month kitten is in heat for the first time. As a really active cat she's hard to deal w at this time. She hated belly rubs before until now when I tried it after watching this video. I think it helps sooth her slightly. Thanks for the video ❤️

Please do not do this to your cats they have a vulnerable spot that you should not be touching witch is their stomach, if you are not careful and touch that area they can start to be aggressive with you and not trust you!
When your cat is in heat I recommend to give them a comfortable place for them to rest but make sure that the resting place is warm,and you should be very gentle with them if you are not they can feel threatened,unpleased,or not safe. Make sure they have a clean litter box if the litter box is not cleaned they can feel overwhelmed and pee on places like your bed,blanket,couch and lots of others. If your cat is moving around a lot that means they are in pain, if they are make human noises or deep howling noises relax them by petting/scratching in between their ears and play with them when they are playful.

My rescue kitty somehow didn’t get spayed at the clinic and went into heat. I tried to soothe her, too. When copulating, the Tom often grips the female at the back scruff of the neck. I decided to grip her scruff then massage her haunches very close to her genital area. It seemed to relive her some.

The best way to avoid a cat having the in heat meows is the get them fixed before they go in heat the first time so between four and six months preferably for because they can get pregnant at 4 months!!!
