    Holy…. I just found this today. I’m 71 which I only say to put things in perspective. I’ve been seriously loving music since my teens; lived through the Woodstock era; love everything from Bach to Black Sabbath. This is as good as anything I have ever heard. As soon as it was done I had to listen again!

    La Fiesta song credit - mysterious - - - - {Chick Corea had played in Miles Davis's band on his albums "In a Silent Way" (1969) and "Bitches Brew" (1970) and after recording an avant-garde jazz album with a band called "Circle" and becoming a member of Scientology, he decided he wanted to communicate better with the audience and play a more accessible style of music. In late 1971 he formed his band "Return to Forever" to perform primarily latin-orientated jazz. The band included saxophonist Joe Farrell, bassist Stanley Clarke, drummer Airto Moreira and singer Flora Purim, some of whom had been in Stan Getz's band together with Corea. They played their debut at the Village Vanguard, New York in November 1971 and recorded their eponymous first album in February 1972 including "La Fiesta". The album was released in 1972, but only in Europe. The US release didn't follow until 1975. Although there is no proof, it seems most likely that Corea composed "La Fiesta" specifically for "Return to Forever" in 1971, but of course it's possible that he had been working on the piece for some time before that.}

So much feel, power, dynamics and emotion. This is four of the best musicians we have ever seen. And playing live!! The way it should be!!

    This is 'Return to Forever' minus Al DeMeola. Original first lineup consisted of Flora Purim, her husband Airto Moreira (both Brazilians) on drums and percussion, Corea's longtime musical co-worker Joe Farrell on saxophone and flute, which soon after this became 'Return to Forever'...!!

    Watching geniuses at work is the highlight of the video for me. 1972 is right about the year I discovered Chic Corea, and la fiesta, the Maynard Ferguson version a few years later, and Stanley Clark, and his masterful bass playing, Stan Getz inspired me to understand sax playing better I think most of this line up became the band “ Return to Forever” , a band that expanded my musical understanding of what jazz is and could be.

      Stanley the only one of them still alive.
      Makes me very sad.
      Not that we're getting closer to the ultimate goal but that we can't take the trip with at least one of them.
      Being a drummer and guitarist it would have to be Tony Williams. But Sir Stan would be a great honour as well.
      Armando being my favourite composer since the "Return To Forever" days would be cool to travel to the final destination with to.
