Gareth said he selected in form, but I can understand him with the fact Harry maguire has been a key part of the spine for both the euros and World Cup. It’s the same feeling with Pickford. If people are willing to say Pickford should be no.1 then the same consistency should be applied to maguire. For me I think he should be dropped, but I think the real problem is how mings is in there over Tomori now.

As an england supporter I feel much better with Maguire at the back and this backing from Southgate will help keep his england form good by letting him know his man united form doesn't matter which is important because Maguire is a confidence=form player so it keeps his man united confidence separate from his England confidence, good move from southgate IMO, means he can have good England form without giving two shits about his man united form

Absolutely love the focus here on Leicesters omissions. I think some rival fans might see where we are in the league and not think much of but the individual performances of Thomas, KDH, Barnes and Madders have been outstanding. A couple had to be called up especially with the injuries to current England setup!

So we don't rate him because he always needs more bodies around him to defend. Now other teams have seen he is one of the weak links. They target him now.

Harvey Barnes deserved that call-up! He's been in red hot form this year and has barely put a foot wrong. He offers something different to this squad and unlike Grealish this season he doesn't look clueless on the wing. He can score and assist with the best of them and is one of the most direct players we have. He can beat his man no problem and his finishing has been improving game on game. Give him a chance!
If watched all the episodes Jack’s played, wouldn't say this. He's been a part of the team here and this is his first season and he's adapted well to the team. and everything will follow As Pep said, the most important thing is not the personal stats but the playing well and the team winning.

@@mohammedsalam2909 I’m not fan of United or city but if you watch the games Grealish has had a better season. Sancho is insanely inconsistent, likes to disappear at times. Grealish drops deep and makes things happen. Judging off stats of course Sancho is better but overall player Grealish is definitely more deserving of the call up

Tbf Leicester has been shit this season, and most of those are just slightly worse options than the ones we have. Why call up Maddison when Mount and Foden are younger and better. Why Barnes when Saka is a wonderkid and Sterling was arguably euro player of the tournament.

How can you be so naive? It is not the time to give new players a chance to earn their cap. It's time for creating the bond between the players that Southgate will be taking with him to the world cup. Players like ESR and Grealish, may not be playing much, but they are quality players and deserves the spot in the world cup squad. New players who haven't played for England before would probably struggle to adjust to the playing style of Southgate. The manager should go with the players he thinks is the right fit for the squad.

Sancho doesn’t have the work rate, as of right now. That simple. His lack of trackback is responsible for a lot of United’s conceded goals this season.

England fans as a community need to stop digging into Southgate so much. There’s always been debate about his squads almost every time he releases one. We say the same things every time and forget while we might not see it as right, it’s working because we were a few penalties of our first major trophy since 1966. He has his methods and clearly wants to build chemistry with his team rather than trying to bring in anyone new. I wouldn’t do that I know but I’m not questioning it because I trust Southgate

I think Jordan Pickford should get in. Even though his Everton season has been terrible he might be a national man. His Perfomance in July was amazing. Since this is a friendly we should play as many euro and youngsters as possible so we know who can be selected in november

Maguire absolutely should be in the squad. You’ve got to have a good level of continuity in the squad between tournaments. If you’ve proved you can deliver for the national team, you don’t particularly need to be ‘on form’ to get a chance. And they’re not pointless games. Only a handful left before the World Cup
It's obvious Gareth Southgate has favours but tomori is really good this season but no they get the fraud defender. As long as Gareth stays for England Maguire will start and will degrade the team!

You guys are right, Southgate is not brave enough. I said it during the Euros and that it would cost us the final, look what happened. This is the best England has ever been and having Southgate at the helm makes me nervous.
