I'm watching all of your video's about rocks as an inspiration before building a rocky background in my terrarium ;) I wish i was as good as you guys :O
Hi guys, I hope you’re getting back normal after such a horrible 12 months! I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what is the flexible render that you use? I’m repairing a flood damaged set made from a mixture of plasterboard and fiberglass. I’m looking for a good material that’ll coat both. Thanks guys 👍
Is there a specific name of the “concrete layer” I can tell someone when I’m looking for it? I’m in the U.S. and new to this hobby. Thank you! I VERY much enjoy your work and found you from your “Iron Maiden” sculpts! 🤘🏼
What are your thoughts on hot knives vs. hot wires? I am planning on trying some of this out as a hobby, and I am curious as to the pros and cons of each. Thanks!
We use hot wires to take the main bulk of the material off. Then we move down to tools like nail and wire brushes and rifflers. Sometimes we use knives, but we just use regular knives and a bit of effort. Not actually sure what a benefit of hot knives would be. I mean you'd use less effort, but for the cost of the fact youd have to buy one, and it would be a hell of a lot slower and less, I don't know, hands on than carving I imagine
When you use a nail brush is this a bathroom nail brush for cleaning under finger nails or a brush made of nails? Can we see a close up photo of the nail brush please?
Hi Lindsay. The nail brushes are wooden paddles with nails literally sticking through. If you skip to 3:20 in this video, you can see them sitting on the desk :) you can also see examples of nail brushes in some of our other poly carving videos
We've gone over with a spray on concrete render, which in itself gives a later of weatherproofing. But the textured finish with glue on top not so much. But these are intended to be internal shop window displays anyway
Amazing videos! Thanks for sharing! I would like to ask you for advise. I am planing to make a "sofa" for the garden... do you think it will work? I live in the mountains, with temperaturs that range from -3 in the winter to 40 in the summer. Will Styrofoam last outdoors? With a coat of cement and fiberglass mesh net?
Hi Mariel. The polystyrene on it's own won't last, but with a layer of glass fibre (protect the polystyrene first before going over with glass fibre and resin), and then a concrete layer on top of the fibreglass, this should be fine. Send us some images when it's done :) aden.hynes@hotmail.com. Thanks for watching
since styrofoam blocks are too expensive for me, can i use glued styrofoam sheets to make a block of styrofoam? anyone have any suggestion? thanks in advance!
Aden Hynes Sculpture Studios Oh is that so? I thought it would be a cheaper option since i don't really need such a thick styrofoam. Anyway thank you for the advice!
Wondered in here trying to find information on N scale model RR scenery. Stayed for the whole video, Very fascinating. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to create this. I never thought of using foam at this real life scale before. : O) whens the dance off?
Hi, people! I watched most of your videos and must say you have amazing ideas and products of art in every single video! Hope you will continue to upload new materials! Just one question-Can you tell me where can I find sticky (adhesive) aluminium foil you have showed in few of your videos? Can you send me a link of a company that produces it. Tnx! :)
+Dzimini Hi Dzimini. We get the foil from a company called Tikki Tape here in the UK. If you're located here as well, perhaps look them up and say we recommended you. If you're not from the UK, I'm not sure if they are located or ship anywhere else apart from the UK. But depending on where you are around the globe, you might be able to find a similar product elsewhere. Thanks for watching :D
I really don't understand why this company isn't listed as 2ND best place to work in the world...first being panda baby bear nursery of course. do u not let empowers bring their pets to work....this may be why.

what materials could be used to change the texture of the foam ?

Thank you. I have enjoyed many of your clips but never quite thought through what a nail brush could be.
What do you exactly use to coat? Is it weather proof?
We've gone over with a spray on concrete render, which in itself gives a later of weatherproofing. But the textured finish with glue on top not so much. But these are intended to be internal shop window displays anyway
Is that cement on the spray gun? Great work!
José Pagán it is indeed. It's a flexible sprayable concrete render 😊 only needs to go in a couple of mm thick. Thanks for watching!
Cool...what is the green stuff again?
Hey Dark Ride, its a fake moss from a modelling shop (we obviously ha to buy quite a bit of it!)
Thanks!

Rhea Tsania I imagine that would
Work out more expensive per volume
Aden Hynes Sculpture Studios Oh is that so? I thought it would be a cheaper option since i don't really need such a thick styrofoam. Anyway thank you for the advice!
Rhea Tsania it's the same with buying anything in bulk. You can always cut a large block down and save material for later as well
Aden Hynes Sculpture Studios okay, thank you so much for replying and the advices!
