Hydroponics Africa - Growing More Food with Less Water

  • Water shortages are a serious problem for the world's smallholder farmers. In Africa eight out of ten farmers grow crops on less than two hectares of land and have problems irrigating them - especially in scarce regions. However, hydroponics offers farmers and households a good solution for this challenge.
    In this new video WE4F innovator, Hydroponics Africa (based in Kenya), describes the process and how they have adapted the process to African conditions.

    Very interesting. I am interested in one aspect which seems to indicate stagnant water in the PVC system. Normal hydroponic systems are cyclic, on an inclination, to allow the water to go up and back down to the water reservoir. Are there any adverse effects observed in having the solution stagnant as in the video above...correct me if i am wrong and the system actually cycles. Cheers.
