Fast Freddie will still always remain my top all time racing hero. Back in 1980 at 16, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the beautiful little silver Honda CB400T Hawk in the dealership window, that was styled just like my idol's machine! I moved heaven and earth to get it, and for a young kid way up in tiny town in the North of Canada, that bike took me to Mexico, all across America, and tens of thousands of miraculous miles and years of joy. I found it so strange to later realize Freddie was only 2 years older than I am, lol.

Big fan Freddie, and good to see you making these videos! I remember taking a CB900F out on a test ride back in the early 80's as a young street squid. I will NEVER forget the violent tank-slapper at about 180 km/hr. They really needed a steering damper to be safe at speed.

Loved the styling of the CB900F. I was 18 when it came out and I had a CB250N Superdream and the 900 looked to be a superdream on steroids and obviously so much better - but I could dream. I had a friend who owned one and he loved it. Never did aspire to the 900 - finishing with a VFR800. The original naked CBX1000 is still my favourite from the era - may not be the best but it still looks fantastic!

Both Fast Freddie and Bol D’Or 900 really takes back as does the GSX1100 next to it. Owned and rode a lot of bikes back in the ‘80s and I really loved my racing. It’s a real shame that motoGP took over from the 500GP bikes and the riders today are so different from the likes of Freddie, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts, Randy Mamola, Ronny Haslam and the like.

The real shame is that the street bikes started looking like the race bikes, instead of being converted street bikes.

What they learned for the VF750, was to make a street bike into a race bike, so then they could make the Super Bike a better race bike, instead of having to reverse engineer the very heavy street CB900.
The eighties and early nineties was the end of UJMs and a move towards more focused designs and lots of plastic.

Have you seen the Speed of Air diesel pistons that are being promoted?
Do these dimples in the quench area of the diesel combustion chamber enhance turbulence and could they be useful in high compression spark ignition engines? Or any gas engine, for that matter

My CB900 F2 I think was my favorite bike... sweet handling and real easy to pop wheelies... lol
I wonder how today's racers would adapt to these bikes...

They would find them extremely slow extremely wobbly and very poor handling and small lean angle capable

They would hold it WFO until the first corner, then crap themselves while throwing it down the road.

900 Bol Dor so good that Honda had to invent the CB1100R to win the Castrol 6 Hour in Australia in 1980 ,
because GSX’s & even the XS1100’s used to beat them easily

30yrs ago Had the 900F2. Rode with a friend had a GSX-R 750. The Suzuki was far quicker and he was
quick to loose his license and a 1500$ fine. For not stopping

Technically the 1982 Honda Superbike you rode at Daytona was badged as a CB750F. Too bad you were not going thru the Actual race bikes you rode instead of these knock offs in Germany
