    Hey Shane, I just wanted to drop a big thank you for this review. I bought a set of these headphones about 2 months ago and I couldn't be happier. When I set this up a firmware update had to be done and I'm thinking this has solved some of the problems you mention in your review, as I'm not running into any dialogue issues at all. My head has a 22" radius and I still have room to spare if that helps anyone. I bought these because my elderly parents live with my wife and I and they nap a lot so cranking the soundbar is only viable during certain times of the day and even then, my parents can still feel the sub during movies. I'm a night owl so these are perfect when everyone is sleeping. As far as the cost is concerned, you're getting a theater quality experience without waking up your family or your neighbors, at a cost that rivals that of a decent soundbar. Cheers and thanks again for the great reviews

      headphones/headset or typical Soundbar? the point of these is they are not a Soundbar but provide solid approximation of a 7.1.4 system that won't disturb others.
      Looking at it pretty much it seems JVC just made a controller to work with headset vs speakers. So same function only different target device.
      And yes, a kilobuck is a lot for it then again try finding ATMOS compatible headphone w/o lip sync issues & atp-x plus TV that uses apt-x...it's not that possible for some reason. Even still I won't spend that kilobuck for this setup... we'll, maybe if I get fru trying to find BT apt-x cans that actually have high enough sound quality to match my TV...
      finding a quality solution for this isn't as easy as I had assumed...too many compromises SQ wise with the ATMOS & apt-x cans...

I don't know if my head is average size . I just measured the circumference of my head, which is 23 1/2 inches. So, that would be a X-Large or hat size about 7 1/2 - 7 5/8 US. Do you think they would fit person with this size of head? I read the average size head is 21-23. inches. Coming from the Sony MDR-HW700DS, i was completely underwhelmed from the performance on these. Everything sounds compressed and low. The atmos experience is ok at best. maybe a future firmware update will help resolve these issues. If you're currently looking for a loud/clear/booming/immersive headphone experience, stick to the Sonys, the simulating 9.1 (from 5.1 sources) completely blows the Exos (atmos, 5.1, stereo, etc) out the water. Returned exos after a day playing around with it.

      I'm always surprised how different the views are on these. I read on a german Forum where guys also came from the Sony's and were saying the JVC's do sound better. I didn't have the Sony's but am completely happy with the JVC's. They sound fantastic to me. Have you actually taken multiple measurements? If you have a bad measurement it will sound like ass. It all stands and falls with the measurement.

    • @hershy67
      @hershy67 3 года назад

      @@scarface11991 yea took quite a few measurements. even took some where the headset was not completely covering my ears so that it could give me louder feedback, but came out distorted that way though. honestly feel doing measurements are useless for headsets anyway since they already cover your ears and blocks out external sound for the most part. they should have did some professionally pre-programmed measurements, or take out this feature completely. too much room for error here on the user's part.

    • @scarface11991
      @scarface11991 3 года назад +1

      @@hershy67 well if they would take out this feature you would just have normal Stereo Headphones and you pay a 1000 bucks for this special feature. But you are right, it's not working for everyone. I read it on an english and on a German Hifi Forum that some people just can't get it to sound right even after doing the measuring part for several times. I feared that I would be also the unlucky guy who this could happen to before buying them but luckily I was wrong and to me they sound fantastic. However I also did 4 measurements and only one sounds really good to me.

      I tried Dolby Atmos for Headphones on Windows with my Audio Technica MX50xbt Stereo Headphones and let me tell you it's not even close to what you are getting with the JVC's. Movies I agree with the review, they sound fantastic. Watched John Wick with Atmos and man especially the club scene is just soo damn good with these. Games like The Last of Us 2 are an amazing experience because you can pinpoint sounds in the world and also enemies. You can actually hear them approaching you from the back, side etc. I played Modern Warfare 2 Remastered on PC and holy cow when those Explosions explode all around you it's amazing is all I can say. If you have the money for these I can totally recommend them.

    Yeah that's an absurd price. I'll stick to using dolby atmos for headphones and dts-x for headphones on my pc. I'm forced to buy uhd blu rays to get hdr and atmos on my pc but they're worth the higher bitrate over streaming.

    • @scarface11991
      @scarface11991 3 года назад

      I tried these software solutions and compared to the JVC XP-EXT 1 it's a joke. You actually get room between the sound sources and your head as you would with a speaker system and you also get Surround effects that you can hear around you as pointed out in the review and you can use it with all sources. I have my PS4, my PC and my Nvidia Shield connected to the JVC Box and it works with everything. Games like the last of us 2 are amazing with these as you can pinpoint enemies in the room and the world just becomes "alive" as you can hear rain, thunder etc. happening in your room and not "in your head". I was sceptical of the price but after using them now for over a month I don't want anything else. I stopped using my Bose Soundbar almost completely especially at night.

    Had these for a week but sent them back. They were great for surround sounds and even the bass was ok but the big problem I found was the dialogue channel. It just sounded echoey and tinny sounding no matter what I tried which ruined the experience. I took so many measurements that I was hearing those calibration sounds in my sleep. I was getting different sounding results after each measurement even though my head was in the same place every time which to me means that there’s a problem with the calibration algorithm software. If they can sort out the dialogue issue then these would be great but until that happens I would recommend that if you want to try them that you get them from somewhere with a good returns policy.

    Closed headphones will pretty much never give a good representation of 7.1, and especially not Atmos. Every closed headphone I've ever heard is comparatively claustrophobic compared to the semi-open and open headphones. The only real benefit is isolation, not surround. Those sweeps though make it sound like it's actually trying to measure your HRTF, which is what my Smyth Realiser A8 (and the A16) does, albeit this unit will be doing it to a lesser degree of personalization since you aren't measuring actual speakers in a room, but it's still progress from the one-size-fits-all boxes of the past.

      @@therealshanelee It's not about what you think you can hear or what I think you can hear. Putting headphones over the top of a beanie objectively changes the frequency response. You aren't getting a proper seal because a seal literally requires the headphone to touch your skin all the way around your ear. The idea that you're not getting a proper seal with a beanie isn't some subjective impression, it's like me telling you that you can't close a wine bottle with a sock.
      But whatever man, you do you. Wear your hat all you want then give some nonsensical review of audio products. Why not start wearing sun glasses and reviewing TVs too while you're at it.
