IMO the problem with Steel Bolts is the same with regular bolts, and it's that when you have people not facing you directly, you'll most likely just hit an arm shot which just won't one shot people at all, it's why shotbolt is just so much better close range, because an arm shot will still kill if the torso is behind the arm, on top of having virtually infinite one shot range ofc
Arm shot should have a fatigue on the opponent like more sway stamina consumption on ads
Yeah, steel bolt should have been given one level of penetration. Penetrates limbs and thin wood like doors. That would've at least given it something of a niche.

I like that the steel bolt got added at the same time the bow and shotguns got MASSIVE buffs, so even if u want to bring primitive weapons, the bow is a lot better in spades simply due to damage buffs and being able to carry more special ammo

Quieter medium range option, but at that point you could just use a silenced Sparks. Unfortunately, I don't know if it really fits a niche
@Mr.Ford3350 I think regular bolts or even shotbolts are quite a good option for medium range as it is. Every time a steel bolt doesn't kill you have to ask yourself: why am I doing this?
The last round when you outplay the other team with a chain pistol dumdum ammo at medium range is insane. The fact that they delivered a super shotgun was a tribute for you to close the match

Imo, it should have reduced initial damage, but reduced damage drop off along with the reduced projectile drop.
That way, after a certain distance, it's 100% more viable than a standard bolt.
I rarely, if ever, got a once shot kill on the steel bolts, regardless of range. I wanted to use them SO BAD on the deadeye crossbow, but between the increased hip fire spread and lack of one shot potential, it just became a frustrating mess.

Ah yes, steel is somehow LIGHTER than wood and thus it makes it fly further with more accuracy but LESS damage? Bruh XD

A large wooden square bolt with a broad tip works like a dum dum bullet, tearing up the victim, unlike a steel needle without a broadhead tip that just penetrates.
But it'd be cooler if steel ones penetrated limbs.

Gives me Flechette vibes honestly, where the benifit mostly comes from a Silent Staus effect (Bleed) thats good for follow ups, teamplays, but not outright killing.
Which is interesting enough I guess. Think Id still rather have Flechette, because I can do the same thing, just louder. But having, y'know, a follow-up shot instead of a clunky reload.
Lol, maybe they need to give it Arm piercing like shotguns, make it feel more reliable. Fuck it, make it pen 1 layer of wood while you're at it. Its steel aint it? 😂
Flechette also gives the benefit of greatly extending the 2 tap range of shotguns so you can pressure people with bleed and fairly hefty damage from across a compound, even killing them. All a crossbow has is its 1HKO potential and steel bolt gimps it, you have no follow up outside of switching do a different gun

Hornet, if you ever get the chance and want to just ruin someones entire day, Mako explosive with levering has been my go to for a bit now. I even bring explosive uppercut for more ammo.
Being able to just tap fire the levering near someone and ruin their shots with aimpunch is just hilarious. I have had more frustrated rants over mic than using any other weapon.
Plus you can tap a door open then just rush in and spam someone dead. Super silly fun man, I would love to see someone with more skill play it.

Steelbolt IMO should have much better damage retention over distance. That way there would be a good reason to take it.

I've tried a bit of both as a certified crossbow gamer. The scope is awesome, the steel bolts are not. May as well take the normal bolts and lead/raise more. The scope isn't actually good enough for steel bolts to make a difference, for me.
Fun fact about the steel bolt is that it flies so straight that you shouldn't use the horizontal prongs for elevation, instead you triangulate the three sight prongs, the middle of that triangle is where the steel bolt flies. Makes it that much more complicated considering you have to hit headshots beyond 25 meters with it.
Fun fact is that is how the crossbow sight always worked and shot.

i like the Higher V bullets do way less damage. Im a shotgunner and compact pistol user. im better with 300 volocity than 400

Could you make a video about what graphics settings you use? The new update has tanked my performance on my 3080 and it doesn't feel smooth no matter what I do.
I just don't understand why the steelbolt flies faster and "truer" than regular wooden shaft bolt when steel is heavier LOL
I think thats just (actual real) physics haha - don't quote me, but the heavier the object the straighter it flies (unlike the way crytek implemented bullet drop)
The weight doesn’t matter it’s only the air resistance and velocity but we all know that crytek doesn’t give a damn about physics
so after using the crossbow in the new update, it feels like it fires a little higher on the ironsight than it used to before the update. am i crazy? i swear i would go for a body shot and i'd get a headshot and not expect it. this is with lowered crosshair as well. Also i love the new steel bolt its not insane or anything i just love the new velocity and i havent had many problems with its one tap potential even in 5-5.5* team lobbies

Alone by looking at the stats of this ammo-type, I already knew it wouldnt be relevant...
So I will never be bringing it into a match and therefore I cant be dissapointed...
Steel bolts are awesome when you use em as intended 😂 but go pushing in like a six star chad then you might need to switch to kill the next two sick video tho
having to switch to shotbolt for close range is not a negative on steel bolts, theyre made for range and velocity, same as high velocoty ammo

Very stupid question but how are you getting Tier 3 hunters?? Ever since the update dropped they never show up in my roster depsite me being lvl 100. Do i have to prestige to maybe reset myself so they'd show up properly as i lvl?
Tier 3 hunters are gonna come later. They're gonna be "evolutions" of the current tier 1 hunters. That's why they're rookies
If you had any tier 3s saved before the game updated to the new year they didn't go away, so people who had a bunch of tier 3s stockpiled get to keep playing them.

It has the ability to 1HK to the body. I think the dmg is like 190ish. I think the thing is shotbolt just outshines all the other ammo types for the crossbow. The steel bolts have less damage than regular bolts. But can fly further and faster.
