See you in 2021 man
Ash try exist on plane so that if any nut job actually starts smoking in the bathroom he can dispose it there instead of the bin which mostly would be filled with tissue paper.
Fire and paper can bring down a plane
Good video
Before COVID?
@@borntowild480 exactly🙃
The reason for the retention of ash trays in the toilet- If someone does smoke on the flight, the cabin crew must have a safe way to dispose of the cigarette. They can not put the cigarette in the hand towel bins as that is a fire hazard.
And flushing it down the toilet is also a no no as the only items that are meant to go down the drain and human fluids and toilet paper.
So, ash tray it is.
Yeap and every toilet has hidden way to open doors from outside mostly behind the sign of toilet so it can be opened in case of emergancy
Why not put the cigarette in a cup of water?
@@rezhaadriantanuharja3389
Because if they for some reason runs out of water or don't have it handy, they know they will find a ashtray in the toilet.
@@rezhaadriantanuharja3389 you can't secure a cup of water for landing! it will spill and it will be a mess, so it's better to just place it in the ashtray, which is also fire proof
The cabin looks so fresh and easy to be in. The green lights are such an amazing feature.
Really cant help a feeling of sadness to see deserted airports when they are normally a hive of activity
Hope all goes back to normal soon, stay safe
Agreed!😐😐🇺🇸
AGREED 😑😑🇺🇸
agreed😔😔🇺🇸
When the plane rocks back and forth in turbulence, it's not so bad. It's when the plane suddenly drops in altitude, that you feel like shitting your pants!
Me too :D
Oh no, I love that sudden altitude drop.
In terms of that guy passed out I can feel for the crew, I work on the coaches in the UK and you try and tell people what to do time and time again and they don't listen so you get to the point where you just don't care anymore you just leave them.
As long as you keep the people safe who want to be safe I couldn't care about the rest.
their catering is amazing. The meals arent big. But I would like to say for the price and quality , their prices are super fair. I loved every bit on my last flight.
The ashtray is there just in case someone smokes and needs to put out their cigarette
Yep! And not only on the A220, it’s on every single plane
I was told this by a flight attendant and even my friend who is a pilot on a brand new 787 airplane. The ashtray is there so if someone smokes there is a safe place to put out the cigarette that will extinguish the fire. Instead of putting it in the waste bin or out on the floor or in the lue, which all pose a higher risk of fire. Especially the waste bin which is usually full of combustible materials.
Omg i cant get over the fact how clean this plane is
Sometimes when I'm dead tired in flight, that kind of turbulence at 5:38 will just feel like a chair massage to be. It is when you feel like the plane drop altitude that really scary.
I remember consistent turbulence in a British 777-200 in route to London which also caused a rapid decline, though it lasted a mere 3/4 seconds the entire cabin woke up from their slumber. I got a good giggle out of it since it was my first time experiencing such turbulence.
Love your commentary, Josh! Thanks man. 👍
I remember in the early 70s flying all over the US on 747‘s and people smoking all over the plane. It was literally so full of smoke you couldn’t breathe. And every seat had an ashtray. And yeah I’m one of those people who gives you a hard time about eating your veggies, so I’m proud of you! Thanks for another great review Josh❤️👍✈️
Thanks Josh on reviewing my flag career. Flew Air Baltic many times to Riga and I felt like at home. Sorry for the bad experience for the first leg. This should not happen again. Thanks for your honestly and keep enjoying us. That was a bad year but we people look forward to flying soon. I miss flying. Take care of you Josh! Greetings from a Latvian guy in Paris.
I m surprised the crew allowed that. Latvian people take their jobs seriously and are very strict normally when it comes to the rules. I remember riding on a trolley bus in 2005 in Riga and only have 10 lat notes on me. The conductor didn’t have the change as the ride was only 0.10 lat. Rather than letting me on for free she went and asked everyone on the bus until she got the change to give to me.
Its gotten less strict now, but back then people were very serious. Back then people were more serious you always had to keep up the apearance, people used to take jobs seriously.
I truly love your commentary❤️.
Great review. I'm really looking forward to flying Air Baltic this summer. I've heard many good things about this airline. I might order the same dish you had, it looked delicious!
Hi Josh, niceto see youre still flying... stay safe, love your vids
Great review. Riga it most probably has the most cobbles ever beatiful city though
Yes, indeed.I had visited Riga on my 16th birthday in 2017 . It is really an amazing destination.
@@amanarora8034 was there in 2017 too.
Yes
Thank you for the video. I am travelling vicariously through you. No holidays for me until 2022, I think!
Flew on this a couple of times. Hands down my favorite plane for European flights.
Great Review..Thank you for sharing with us...
Awesome video. I get to fly Delta's A220 for the first time next week, excited :D
BT has a a great crew at the time when I travel with them. I am very impressed. I had a different experience on AI where with a B787 taxing getting ready for take off the lady in front allowed her daughter to run across the aisle. Unlike I actually raised my voice and told the mom to have her daughter seated. The crew was comfortably seated and when I asked them later they told that this is a common phenomenon on their domestic flights. Another was CZ domestic flight where despite the crew asking the gentleman in front of me to put away his tray table he refuses. Finally I went in front of him and said under general aviation rules if you do not adhere to the crew instruction I am going to video you and send it to the airline in advance of our arrival in PVG for the police to take him away. The rest is history (yes he eventually compiled) and the crew thank me. Oh yes I am a feisty latina . Happy Holidays
Air Baltic a great little airline, flew Fokker 50 RIG-OSL many years ago, took nearly 3 hours with head winds, the beef stroganoff was stunning I remember that! Yes you eat your greens on camera but I did spot one under the orange juice can :o) ps. I notice Noel Philips is on your Patrons, is this a case of vlogger surporting vlogger ;o)
Riga to oslo? Ive also taken a couple of flights in that specific route
Wow that was an awesome video thank you so much you are the best sir
great interesting video !!
I’m Latvian but been living in UK for quite some time already. Love Air Baltic, my favourite budget airline to fly back home to Riga. And surprisingly sometimes you can find much better deals and much better service than on other low coasters.
Love it when you rock the cap backwards 🙏🏽 Keep flying!
Great video! Love the A220! Big fan of your work. 👍🏼
Good stuff man.....I've hot the blues...need to travel!
Looks like a very clean bright cabin. Food does looks decent
13:36 Shopping time!
13:41 *shows merch*
I see what you did there 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing nice plane sure miss flying...
I’ve seen a few incidents with drunk people onboard and the cabin crew have always intervened to resolve. The strangest incident I have ever seen, China in approx 1999/2000, was that people were stood up during take off because they didn’t have a seat and one even had a live chicken in his coat.
Interesting, I didn't know Air Baltic had an all-A220 fleet these days. The last time I flew with them was on a Fokker 50 from RIX to HEL some years ago now. I think they had a mixed fleet back then, including 737s and 757s. I remember the lone FA on that flight was lovely, and that she was wearing a radio headset so that she could still make cabin announcements while she rushed around serving food to the business class passengers (I don't recall the rest of us getting anything) and other duties on that short flight!
I always watch all your Review and Travel. 😀🇵🇭
Have a great Christmas Josh. Life will get better for us all in 2021. You like good food so I can see why you enjoyed the second flight.
im very impressive about details of baltic air , beautiful mirror in the toilette , cabin super clean with wonderfull color wow
9:30 you still hiding one green under ur empty can.... pls eat all vegetables !
Heel mooi vliegtuig Josh.
I fly on a regular route which involves a quick transfer in either Switzerland or Germany (I usually have around 20-30 minutes from getting off one plane to getting on the other - even when the published figures are around 40-50 minutes) so regularly have a journey time of 5-7 hours from leaving the departure lounge to exit at the destination. For me, the availability and quantity of food on the flights matters. If Legacy carriers keep reducing their offerings, and as you mentioned, regardless of the excuses they give it is to reduce costs, unless they start to offer food (even as a supplement) people will start to factor in the food costs/availability just the same as many already do for baggage allowances.
I tried Egyptair A220 and I loved it!
You always have a soothing voice every time I watch your videos😇😇😇
Ashtrays are mandatory in every airplane as a device to safely extinguish a cigarette just in case anybody light it up. Furthermore, ashtrays are an integral part of the MEL - Minimum Equipment List - and an airplane will not be allowed to take off if at least a minimum number of ashtrays are operational.
I flew twice on them, 2 weeks ago, liked them very much nice friendly service and a nice tasteful snack on a short flight!
I am from Latvia - by I never yet used my country airline airBaltic - seems nice airline.
Amazing.
Good Work......
Love the 2+3 Fig, reminds me of the MD80/90 👌
In the USA, if someone does not fasten their seatbelt for takeoff, they will not take off. I believe they must be in an upright position as well. I would think the rules would be the same, set by IATA. I am not sure, but I assume.
HI Josh Another great video in the very different life that we are all in its so sad seeing Airports empty and Airlines with so few passengers on them it will be interesting to see how many Airlines will be here in 2021
Air Baltic had many medium haul thin routes operated by turboprops will they get cut?
Hey josh, the ash tray is provided so that in case someone decides to smoke they should dispose it in the tray instead of throwing down the loo as there are many safety risks of not disposing cigarettes properly which can jeopardize the whole safety of the passengers onboard.
Very lovely airplanes look very comfortable
I remember going to latvia to visit my grandma and I was at that same airport
I agree, Josh, that the lavatory on this plane is bright, clean and quite lovely.
The crew in your first flight was wrong, period. Totally with you on that one.
Thanks, as always, for the review!
16 thumbs down? Never seen that before on your reviews. Thumbs Up for me! Great travel review as always. Be safe J.
To all my fellow Latvians Čau visiem. Ps love it at 1:54 UZMANĪBU UZMANĪBU
You're amazing😍
I love your tell, it how it style, ‘usually dry and shit’ 👏😜👍🏻
I am going to fly Air Baltic next week, first from Sofia to Riga and then from Riga to Helsinki. Really looking forward to it! I also decided to preorder a meal based on your favorable review of the food.
Dear Josh!
How do you not get anxious when the turbulence hits? Ive developed a phobia of travelling on airplanes because of a few past experiences. Do you have any tips to overcome them???
Love your videos!
T.I.A
How cool was that.
One of the reasons there are so still ashtrays in airplane toilets is because if some person were to smoke in the toilet instead of them throwing the smoked cigarette Into the trash can where there is paper and cause a fire, that's what they have in all new planes in the toilet ashtrays
Hello Josh, all the way from South Africa, where the sun set.
Others has already mentioned, but the ashtray in the loos are for cases people do choose to break the rules and smokes. If they put the cigarette buds in the dustbin it could be very hazardous. in short, it's for the safety :-)
A flight review video with a news headline? that's new! :P
Air Baltic really seems like a nice airline to fly with. Especially because I know so little about the Baltic countries
@@nandakishore549 shut up with your ad you loser
Latvia is such a nice Country to stay. I just love it. Its incredible, highly recommend
As a Latvian, I have my complaints about airBaltic, mostly pricewise, but overall they are decent!
Ill try air baltic soon
Hey Josh 🙂 hope your doing great 😊😊 today I am very sick but after watching your video I feel amazing 🙂🙂🙂 your videos are really great 😍 love them a lot...❤️❤️you and your videos are really close to my heart... lots of love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️❤️
U speak very well
U videos are also good
U have talked about urself very well
Love your videos and hello from 🇮🇱
Its law to provide an ashtray on a aircraft, as mentioned below if someone does decide to smoke they do need a place to store or put it out.
I believe, as others have said, the ashtray in the loo is for safety - but i think its an actual legal requirment! I also think it is also on the MEL - Minimum Equipment List; so you cannot fly without it!
I live near the airport. That hown at 4:46 i hear every day! Every hour.
You should have reviewed the front loo with the window.
The IATA Code of Riga is RIX
A lot of plastic in the aircraft !? Canned O J? Really!?
I guess I appreciate your pointing out the minuscule luxury of this aircraft...!! Positivity is a plus! I must admit I love your luxury flights more. I sincerely hope they return. ❤️
Ashtrays in lavatories have become a safety feature, that’s why even brand new planes such as eg the A220/B787 have ashtrays in their lavatories/lavatory doors.
Even though smoking of any kind is prohibited in commercial aviation nowadays, there still is a need for a safe way to put out a cigarette, should one have the bright idea to light one up in the lavatories during a flight.
Besides that, aircraft lavatories are also generally equipped with smoke detectors + (heat activated) fire extinguishers mounted in the waste bins and an isolated ventilation.
Every measure counts when you’re dealing with fire hazards in “an oxygen filled tube” 30k+ ft in the air.
So why an ash tray with a cigarette bud sticker while there is a clear sign telling you it is prohibited? Might be easier to spot in a stress situation, when the cigarette has to be put out asap.
(Eg; smoke alarm goes off when you just started to enjoy your smoke, believe me you’d notice when that one goes off) :)
A220 is my favorite aircraft .. little but lots of style.
Hi Josh, It.s good that you have started your round the world report again. Thanks for your great report. I have one question for you, How you manage your Visa to enter those many countries without any problem. Is it becaiuse of your nationality that you may enter to those countries without visa or you arrange it prior to visiting those country. Please share it.thanks.
The German passport is one of the strongest in the world and allows you visa free access to almost every country with the tourist infrastructure available. Some countries like Turkmenistan and Algeria no matter if you have say the Japanese passport you need a visa.
But basically strong passport (Germany, Japan, UK, US, Denmark, Ireland etc) = strong visa free access
One thing make me confuse, in these corona virus days its mandatory mostly to wear mask during flight, but when food is served you have to take off, so the question is, is the environment germ free during eating times and otherwise its not safe!
The updated recommendation is that mask wearing to primarily to reduce the spread of the COVID 19 virus, not to protect the wearer. There are many cases of people who do not have symptoms but carry the virus. They can easily infect other people if no precautions are taken. It is not about making the environment germ free.
Ashtrays are mandatory on ALL passenger aircraft . They are designed in such a way that if a passenger is caught smoking , the ashtrays are safe places to dispose of a cigarette . A functioning ashtray is a mandatory check on the check list for most airlines. If the one in the washrooms are not working , they flight wont go or the washroom will be blocked .
Lovely windows on that plane.
Good airline, brilliant airport
Hi Josh. I'm from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. I really like your videos. ❤️
What sound is that on 4:45
Im from latvia and i have flown to billund denmark with the a220
With what smartphone did you shoot this video?
Josh!: great video! You should try Iberia business again, they’re serving full meal service with a totally renovated menu from Do&Co, and all I’ve heard is good thoughts about it!
Drunk man? Where was the Drunk man? I think I saw a dead body...LOL
Fly today Turku to Riga, thanks for your opinion.
This flight was from Riga to?
The 9 Eruo meal is Worth it!
Josh please review royal air maroc b787-9 this airline is awesome it’s rated 4 stars by skytrax you have to try it the Lounge is great too. And try going to Terminal 1 it’s modern and really nice.
That Air Baltic livery looks like Royal Brunei. Not many airplanes have bright livery
The ashtray is their that if someone smokes eventough its not legal then he can put it somewhere if there is no ashtray he can put it in toilet which is dangerous 😁
They still have ashtrays onboard aircraft in the lavatories because “IF” somebody was to light a cigarette and smoke we want to have somewhere for them to put it out safely and prevent them from putting it in the trash can having not extinguished it correctly and causing an inflight fire. Despite popular belief you would be surprised how often passengers think they can sneak off and have cigarette in the lavatory. And for us as crew the biggest concern is where the passenger has put the cigarette. So that’s why they are still installed on aircraft! It’s a place for that sneaky passenger that thinks they can get away with it to put that cigarette or crew if they are caught in the act.
I think the first flight was a example of let a sleeping dog lie the plane was empty so the other people could find seats. If you woke the guy up he would have been a problem either he would write a letter to the company about how rude the flight attendants were or caused the crew to call the cops delaying the flight. The crew probably talked to the captain who told them fuck it if he breaks his neck we will just say he must have unbuckled after we check. Not correct but small airlines can't afford these extra costs particularly when the flight is a cost looser anyway
I'm a Cabin Crew, the ashtray is available in all airplanes in case someone smokes on board can puts the cigarette there and not in the bathroom bin where a fire could start.
