The country singers of today should listen to Anita Carter. No yelling and annoying screaming in her voice...just pure singing with her beautiful voice...

This would have been about 1948 or 49. A very talented family.
I didn't really learn of Anita Carter's music until just recently....This was via You Tubes of Grand Ole Opry and such. She just floors me.....great harmony and lead singing with the Carter Sisters. This is the work of a much more mature artist.

i saw anita cater singing with johny and june in the mid eighties. she was singing back-up and even in that capasity her voice STUNED the audiance,recordings dont do it justice her voice was like a crystal chadiler hanging in the air she easily could have been a superstar, but basically she didnt want it once she had kids music was a part time job for her she was basically a "mom type" of woman and realy couldnt care less about anything eles

Anita Carter was country music most beautiful and at the same time most neglected female voice. She was always relegated to the background to other singers, such as her brother-in-law Johnny Cash.
She had her voice which no one could ever take but something else was taken from her that left her light dim. Yet she was a beauty. A lovely heart. But a heavy heart. Somebody robbed her of her joy. Such a humble spirit.
Just think the voices that Anita Carter and Elvis's kids would have ...laugh out loud..lol Seriously ,Anita was married when they were flirting and between the "business" and the fact that women were throwing themselves at Elvis and the Carters were a tight christian family. Timing and life just didn't work out betwen them but ,the "what if" is a great one..
