- Frieren Episode 20 got us saying dangggg Fern is a monster!! She always surprises us with how strong she actually is because she's just so unassuming. We're glad no one was k*lled this episode but a little afraid for what might happen to Frieren's team... okay maybe not so much because Frieren will probably whoop their butts. Its always so interesting hearing reactors bring up Frieren or fern's deadpan looks, they don't strike me as characters who'd looked panicked even if they were in trouble so I don't necessarily see it as being unfazed but more like being level headed no matter, this show does great job at treating its characters like real people not revolving around the main cast so it kinda sucks how people look down on other characters cause they are facing Frieren or fern (I love em both though but still). Laufen's speed spell is genuinely impressive, being able to take the bird from Frieren with easy is pretty sick but unfortunately it goes unnoticed because Frieren wasn't expressive 😢

Depends, none of that has any basis. But Frieren acknowledges she can be defeated by humans with higher skill. I don't think Wirbel can, Denken definitely could if it was a fight to the death.
@@Despotic_Waffle The point of the whole speech was that how much mana you have doesn't decide a battle between mages. This is why Fern was able to beat Ehre who is a much more experienced and talented mage on paper that finished top of her class. Fern is a talented prodigy who has been trained specifically for combat with demons where as mages of this age are not trained with that in mind since it's a peaceful time.
Only the likes of Wirbel train their skills specifically for combat because of need, which is why she has confidence in him being able to best most mages. Fern beat a demon with far more mana and experience because she's been trained to end fights quickly with her quick firing of spells to brute force it. She'd likely lose in a drawn out fight.

Saying that Wirbel could beat either of them might be convincing... if not for the fact that Fern just beat him... without firing a shot. He couldn't detect her and she got the drop on him. That's a W for her and an L for him. He is a cool character though :)
