    This was EXTREMELY helpful -- especially for a newbie like me :). One question. What size should the grid be (for t-shirt designs)?

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад +1

      Glad it was helpful! So for merch by amazon the max size is 4500x5400 but I usually come in a bit I don't want to go all the way to the edge... There is no real "size" I follow.. I just kind of eyeball it...For other POD sites you can adjust the size after uploading, so I kind of eyeball it then for those sites

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад +1

      I'm sure there are some out there... Merch by Amazon only allows front or back, RedBubble is the same way... I believe if you go through Printful you can do front & back.... I haven't been on Spreadshirt for a while now but I think they do it too.... There are probably others but those are the ones that come to mind... great question

  • @MariaBure
    @MariaBure 3 года назад +2

    Sooo cool Juna! Thanks for sharing, Ill bookmark it and I believe I'll be coming back to this video again and again. Now that I started learning graphic design I find two contradictory ideas in design as some designers advise against filling out the space and promote leaving as much negative space as possible (for the design to "breathe") while others on contrary suggest filling out the entire space. I wonder which side is right now.. Maybe it is just a case of difference between a poster/logo design and a tshirt design..

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад

      I think both could work... It's the overall composition that counts in the end... there is more than one way to design a shirt... there are no hard and fast rules

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад +1

      You can click on it and delete it... but I'm guessing you might be talking about something else... do you have a vector in mind when you are asking about erasing mistakes?

    • @anawinter2546

      @@DetourShirts No, you're right. I bought this app a month ago. I am just beginning to use it now. I would like to learn to draw as you do. I was making a bird. I made a mistake and I looked for the eraser tool, lol. So, do I just click on the bird and delete it? People say this is better than photoshop. I hope they're right. I have another question. I am facing problems opening the app. I click on it and nothing happens. Affinity support is not as efficient as Photoshop. I waited days until finally got a response. He said to hold CTRL key and click. I did and it worked. I logged out of it this morning. This afternoon I wanted to try again and guess what? It won't work. I don't know what to do. I send them a message, but they won't respond until sometime next week.

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад +1

      I know sometimes it takes a while to open for me. It's different from Photoshop though... It's more like Illustrator....If you want something more like Photoshop I would get Affinity Photo... but I like Affinity Designer because it's vector based and better for the art I do.

    Hi Juna, this was great. I have a few niches and original ideas, I am SO excited, because I was having trouble thinking of an idea. However, I am having trouble figuring out how I should set up the CMYK...do you have a video or could you tell me how to set up the CMYK? I watched your video talking about why you use CMYK, but I wasn't sure how I should set it up. I know where to find CMYK, but I wasn't sure what numbers I should use, for the CMYK and RGB. I have tried searching for videos to explain it, but I can't find any...I am probably searching the wrong thing. 🤦 Anyway, great video. I appreciate all of your help.

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад +2

      Here's the thing... there are many ways to design a t shirt... this is just one way... a super easy way.... the sunset stuff is another way to design t shirts... the beauty of design and art in general is that there is not just one way to design things...this grid method is a super simple way (like level) 1 for tshirt design.

    • @raybbaby
      @raybbaby 3 года назад

      There is no "wrong" in design/art. A sunset type shirt that says"Busy Teacher and Dog mom" would be kinda weird. Ya know? Or maybe it would be cool. But I can't imagine that text in a round sunset type graphic. But you do what you feel inspired to do.

    Great video Juna, thanks. BTW, I wouldn't take the chance with the design in the trend credit. Trader Joe's is a popular national chain of grocery stores and "Traitor Joe's" sounds too similar to risk it IMO. Especially using a design that says "est. 2021," implying a business establishment. I think lot's of people will automatically associate the design to the grocery chain. Even if it's obvious that it is a joke, that company may not like it. Just my opinion. Walmart is currently trying to stop Kanye West from using a logo that is not a copy of Walmart's logo but they say it is similar enough that it will confuse people into thinking Walmart and Kanye have an association that does not exist. Kanye may have the money to fight something like that against Walmart, but us little guys don't!

    • @DetourShirts

    Thanks for closing down my shop Juna. You presumed way too much and I bought your design off of someone from Etsy. It sent you all the details, but you failed to ready my 3 replies to your false accusations against me. Next time have the decency to have a conversation before you call someone guilty of "stealing" your designs. I legitimately bought the design from someone else and obviously did not know it was your design to begin with. Next time have a conversation with someone instead of presuming they stole something from you intentionally. Learn the facts first before you shut someone's store down. You of all people know how hard it is to get a shop running with over 350 designs. How about you do the right thing at this point and help me restore my shop.

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 года назад +3

      I am so sorry that happened to and I am sorry that your store was closed. RedBubble closed it not me. I reported a design that is mine that was being sold by someone else...Here is were I am coming from Ted.... Your shop is the 12th shop that I reported on RedBubble within the last 2 weeks with my designs. Each one I had to take 10 minutes or more to report. You have NO idea how many times I have to report shops like yours selling my designs within the last year...I have messaged every shop that had my design... none of them wrote back. I messaged you on Friday. I didn't check my messages because 1) nobody has ever answered them before and 2) and more importantly, it is Mother's Day weekend and I am busy. You want me to be checking my messages every time in case someone like you might answer? You want me to give everyone with my stolen design the benefit of the doubt and wait 3 days to hear back? You are blasting me on my RUclips channel for everyone to read, telling people how bad I am and you want me to help you? You said I should "Learn the facts"? Listen, the facts are these... You need to check what you are buying is stolen or not... You need to do the research before buying not complain about being caught and shut down after the fact. If you are buying a pack of t shirt designs for under $5 on Etsy with 30 ready made designs, you should think about why it's so cheap before putting them for sale on your shop. You obviously didn't know it was my design but you had to have known it wasn't right. What about all those other guys? Were you only going to remove my design because I reported you? I know you put a lot of hard work into what you do....so do I, so do all the thousands of people who spent hours creating their own designs and then have their designs, like mine, sold for pennies so that people can easily upload them resell them and make a profit. The one you should be angry with besides yourself are the people that sold you my design not me....You have some nerve, attacking me on my channel where I am trying to help people design their own stuff, when you are taking the easy way out and then complaining you getting caught... Do you see how crazy that is? Who is the real victim here? This is a hard lesson to learn and I am sorry this happened to you. I do hope you can continue with Print on Demand if that is what you want to do. There is a right way to do things. I believe I did do the right thing. I even made a video on my channel warning other about this very thing weeks ago. Etsy Copycats... look it up...Now, HOW ABOUT YOU DO THE RIGHT THING and help me take down these Etsy shops who are selling these stolen designs so this doesn't happen to someone else.

      @@DetourShirts thanks Juna, I appreciate your reply. Being new to this business is not easy and difficult to research everything with 100% certainty its not someone else's design. I cannot know all your designs and had no intention of stealing anything from you. Sorry to blast you as I did, please accept my apology. Wishing you success and if I see any of your designs on other pages I will be sure to let you know.
