  • Beginning Collection. In this video I show you guys how I like to teach a horse to start the first stages of collection by softening through the body. Nala's starting to become much more relaxed at the lope and really get comfortable moving out.

    You do a very nice job of explaining your cues and the response you are looking for in the horse. Thank you for sharing, I always pick up good tips from your videos.

    I love the update for Nala! Watching her go from super scared and unsure to a more confident horse has been amazing! I was hoping that in the future, if you haven't already, you could do a video taking about how the horses drop their shoulders? Just kind of talking about what it looks and feels like when the horse does this. Thank you! :)

    This was super informative, easy to follow, and interesting! New was of thinking about collection for sure! Definitely agree with another comment that a video on shoulders would be amazing, especially dropping in on circles, etc. Thanks for sharing your knowledge :)

    i love watching nalas progress ! i was wondering if you could possobly do a video focusing specifically on how youve gotten her to open out in her lope, my horse has this issue and i dont seem to be making much progress with it ...

      Sorry for the delayed response! I first made sure she didn't need chiropractor work and that the saddle fit her well in order to try to eliminate any pain factors she may have been dealing with. But besides that, I just spent time pushing her out and getting her more and more confident. She was a very finicky horse though, and one thing that did make a slightly noticeable difference is when I switched her from a felt to a fleece pad. She definitely enjoyed that more. However I will say it was a very, very rare occurrence that I've seen that make a difference. What I might look into with your horse (since it sounds like this has been an ongoing issue) is to make sure ulcers aren't an issue. Get him scoped. We have almost all of our show horses on Gut X and I will say, it's been a life changer for a few difficult horses we've had come through here. Best of luck to you!

    Yes indeed. Her trot and lope are looking more supple and relaxed. What is your assessment on her show ring future? Western Pleasure or?...
    Great instructional video as always.

    Hi I've added Zachariah to my horse schooling studies could you make a video on leg aids for this style im wondering while schooling on a circle is your inside leg at girth and outside leg behind girth. Or I have seen. Inside leg back behind girth and outside leg at girth very important to me would love for you to make leg aid video for modern ranch thanks Sonja Ruth.

    Can you do a video on explaining more about the way you do collection? Like what you learned that made you change from your old ways? I’m afraid I’ve taught my horses “wet noodle with no brakes” collection. But I don’t really understand the way YOU teach your horses. I’d love to know so I can change my view on it 😂

      Lexah, thanks for your comment! We've all been there! I'll definitely try to make a video soon addressing that.
      Have a great day!

    How do you que to speed up if not with leg?

    • @zacharias.horsemanship
      @zacharias.horsemanship  Год назад

      I use the leg to speed up, I just don't squeeze. I bump the horse with rhythmic timing until I achieve the desired speed.
