Heya Bob! Quick Tip....When I'm working on these OHV Engines and have to deal with the spark plugs, I grab about a 6" length of fuel line, slip it over the spark plug end and I can all but tighten the plug using the hose to turn the plug. Great video! Cheers! Zip~ Hugs to the little man.
I recently had to do a valve job on my flat head Tecumseh. This as the exhaust valve wasn't closing and the machine started blowing flames out of the muffler and backfiring. I did both valves while I had it apart as the intake backlash was out of spec too. The cylinder walls were amazingly clean despite the machine being about 40 years old. A fun little project!
Great video! I piece of vacuum tubing on the end of the plug will help install and remove the plug in tight areas, been doing it for years. 👍 keep the videos coming
My Tecumseh 9 horse on an Ariens 927001 used to have flames out of the exhaust. I know that those have potential issues with the valves needing to be "shortened" essentially as they are not overhead. However I found that the emulsion tube O-rings needed replacing. That took care of the problem and took care of surging too! Runs better than ever. Must have been running too rich I assume.
Those rocker stud nuts are only supposed to torque to like 3-4 ft lbs. crazy they weren’t stripped with how tight they were! I personally only use NGK.
If the carburator has a condition such as a badly plugged main jet thats stil enougth to allow the engine to run but its now running "super lean" it will push the exhaust temps through the roof and make your miuffler glow red hot as well .. most engines will allso surge badly when this issue is happeing , Do this with a two stroke and you will quickly destroy the piston and cylinder due to lack of lubrication from the lean fuel mixture ..
Hi bob, ive an Ariens zoom 1842xl zero turn with 2 hydro transaxles. My problem is that it drives perfectly but it won't neutralise to push it as I ran out of fuel!! I pulled out the release tabs to their positions but it still seems to be stuck on the right hand side! Any thing you could think of that the issue is? Thank you, Regards Gavin from Ireland! Love your videos, I tend to binge watch them 👌
LG plug was in my Westinghouse Generator, it is a known problem with in the Westinghouse generator community a couple of years ago, users complained of inconsistent running/engine cutting out under load. Super cheap Chinese plug. I put a NGK plug in after the 5 hour break in period and haven't looked back.
I have followed your videos and clean the carburetor even though it was new and check the float everything looks good it still won't start and I'm getting fuel in the exhaust. What should I check next? Thank you very much for all your information. Keep up the good work
did you change the oil on that? with how long it took for the smoke to clear i would almost wonder if the needle is starting to leak and flood out the engine. it would definitely explain why they engine was at least running before and now all of a sudden the plug is bad. something about flooding the cylinder with gas usually makes a plug fail.

We don't have snow blowers over here but an engine is an engine, loved the vid, cheers
Thats a big snowblower . But i only use ngk or champion spark pkugs . Awesome video . Thanks for sharing .

Great tip!
@@doublewide6 when you do it be sure and mention my name!👍👍😎
If it doesn’t say NGK or champion....replace it with one that does. First thing I do to every engine I have or work on for others.
I use Oregon plugs and they work amazing 👍 much cheaper in price than NGK
Who makes the Oregon plugs?
Totally agree
Great job on this one spark plugs di make a difference in how the engine is running

I didn't see the plug issue coming. i figured it was no start because the exhaust lash was so far off. Good call.

I use Champion and NGK.
Neat fix Bob . Runs nice .
It is a big machine a back breaker in my opionion.
Congrats on 100k bro, make sure you request your play button, they dont just give it to you automatically.
Thanks! Will do! I have been waiting for it didn't know I need to request it.
420cc=13 horsepower
Torch spark plugs=trash
Another good video Bob, keep those snowblowers running!
Yeah Torch plugs are junk made in China
Great video. You just saved my butt. Thank you.
How about a leak down tester and rule out valves
Good fix. Enjoyed
good job man.
Kinda like the electric joystick chute control!

Happy Valentine's day
I guess checking at TDC is not needed.
Not needed with the Cam lobes.
Good help👍👍
Hi Bob, good video buddy!
Thanks for the visit

Check for spark
Good job, interesting video.
Thank you very much!
Thanks again
No problem
The hell is wrong with you use a 1/4 impact with moderate down force when they're overtightened like that.
Great video..as always! Can you tell me where on the Chinese knock off engines the actual engine model number is? Thank you.
👍👍. Thanks!
No problem!
i use a old spark plug boot to install or remove a spark plug after its been loosened if you cant remove it by hand
great tip. I will be using that. Thanks
Awesome! What about flames out the Carburetor on a snow blower??
Bad timing? Broken keyway possibly?

Oil looked good no fuel in it. He said it was blowing fire out exhaust then the next day it would not start either.
Most of the time it's over fueling , clogged air filter will do that too. Valve clearance is .007 inch.
On both exhaust and intake valves
Thanks mine was a tight .010
@@doublewide6 how would I get those specs. Thanks
Bob, what do you think of those lct engines? I think they're junk.
Does it matter what stroke you are on or only that the valve you are setting is completely out?
As long as it is completely out it is fine.
Only NGK or Champion Spark Plugs.
what was the replacement plug number?
How can you tell what size feelers gauge to put in?
Briggs and probably other makers have CheckSheets with torques and clearance for their engine.
what did you use to test for spark? lmk.
another spark plug. So I found the coil works, but not the plug in the engine. The guy said the blower was flaming out muffler then would not start.
can I set my Arien 7524 snow blower valve at 12000
Do you have the engine model? I have some Tecumseh service manuals. I can look it up for you if it is a Tecumseh engine.
10 thousand seems high for ohv clearance.
Would .006 be a good ballpark? It was a tight .010 for what it is worth.
Professional???
Do u know or watch Ajp garden machines. Check him out AJP GARDEN MACHINES
There's a $10 tool for that
And you call yourself a mower mechanic when you got a hold of spark plug cap With a pair of pliers come on
