Steve O great to see you lurking on my channel. I'm really impressed with the small engine community. I am meeting a lot of great people with small engine shops in these live feeds. It is nice to team up with such a great group of guys and girls. Many more Canadian jokes and jabs coming your way. Stay tuned. Bob
Glad I found your video. My Track drive cub Cadet has the left track not working. I will be taking it apart this weekend to see what is wrong. Thanks for the detailed video.
I just watched your live broadcast. I wished I had known it was on I would have sent a comment. I don't know how your fixing the John Deere hood. I fixed one this summer it had 5 fairly large cracks. I bought a fiber glass kit and used a drywall tape actually a plastic mesh. I used the mesh on the inside only cut some fine grooves in the top side and filled with fiber glass. I bought some john Deere green at home depot matched perfectly. I cost $3.00 per can John Deere wanted $9.00 per can. I also wanted to mention that I watched your video on home remedies. Your wife segment on the floor Steam cleaner was great . I ordered one right after your video. Thanks again Ron B Ron's small engine repair. Marcellus Michigan
Great video! I got this same snowblower cheap off a co-worker a couple years ago and am trying to replace that drive gear shaft that you welded the clamp onto. I was having the same issue with the right side not propelling and it was due to a cracked cog on that shaft. So far I've got the old shaft out but can't get the new one in. I need to take the track off like you did so this video was perfect for my situation! Thanks again!
Glad you enjoyed it I have worked on a few of these troy bilts with the plastic engine cover. The cover is the biggest PITA to remove and snap back on it always gets stock on the electric starter, the choke shaft, and the studs it mounts with.
Nice video. I had the same exact issue with an old White track drive. Ended up just taking a piece of aluminum tubing cut to length and cutting a slit down it lengthwise and spreading it a bit to get it over the shaft. Then crimped it with pliers and wrapped it with some zip ties. If it doesn't hold I'll definitely be welding a piece in there.
Being 72 not sure i have ever commented on your channel DW but the OLD MAN here from EP, i watch all your videos along with ALL other small engine repair channels and found this one extremely likeable for the repair. My guess is your customer bought it off someone that had no clue what they were doing. Congrats on the 100K keep em coming and thanks for supporting us Canucks!
You Made it Bob!! Celebration time for hitting that milestone 100K. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, and Nice Fix!! Cheers my Friend! Hugs to the little man! Zip~
Yea i don't think i'm gonna buy one of those no time too soon! 🤣🤣 Congrats on 100k subscribers! Oh yea don't forget about Donyboy 73 he is a Canadian & really good @ what he does too!
Great video my friend. I am in Pennsylvania too. I was born in Johnstown and from your accent I figured you were out in Pittsburgh. Great area. I am out in Bangor PA now working at a pharmaceutical company dreaming about starting a mobile small engine and welding repair company with a truck with a crane like the guy from classic work or IC weld. I ope to hear from you. I shouldn't really say dreaming because I just bought two welders, a truck mounted and a trailer mounted. I also found a 1999 Ford Ranger that needs the frame welded but that will be no problem. I am slowly getting my tools together. I am also recovering from a horrible accident where I was hit on my Harley and had extensive blood clots where I was not allowed to walk for seven months. I survived at least.
Bangor is about 35min. from me. Going from white collar to blue is going to be quite a jump. I would start moonlighting and see how you like it. You will still have healthcare and a steady paycheck if it does not work out.
@@doublewide6 It is a decent paycheck and great healthcare. I do not plan on jumping off. I definitely plan on doing weekends mainly. Thank you my friend!!
Great video Bob. This should help people with this type snowblower that are having this problem. Great to see you have reached 100k subs. your videos are always great and helpful. You have helped me out more than once buddy. Hope Bobby is doing well. Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. God Bless!!
Great video. It's really helpful to see step-by-step fixing issues and not just jump to finished product. Thanks for taking us along. I do have a question. The auger housing, scraper bar and auger housing shoes look like they are about two inches off of the ground. Are the tracks adjustable to lower the front down to where it should be?
Yes, the snow is helpful for business. Once you get about 500 miles south of here you don't see much of the white stuff, but 500 miles from here they get at least 6 weeks more of lawnmower work.
when you installed the new toothed sprocket ...did you forget the thrust washer on the shaft before inserting?? Maybe review the disassembly where you can see the washer. Take care
I have a Craftsman track drive 8.5 hp 26" snowthrower I bought in '97, and it has this exact problem. I don't see a loose chain, so I'll just take it down to the mechanic. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix. Getting it on the truck should be fun. Not. Since it only wants to go right, not straight ahead. I bought the track drive because that was what we needed. Somewhat steep terrain, plus doing paths off of the driveway. Need that traction.
yes track drives can be a pain! you make it look so easy, hey congrats on the 100k! big milestone. keep up the good work i enjoy your channel immensely!
Thanks for the video! I have the same snowblower, left track won't drive. Spins free with or without the steering assist trigger applied, while the right side engages with the friction wheel and steering assist. Is there a keyway or shear pin for the track wheel? I have it apart in the garage, cannot find any reason why it would not be working. Chains on sprockets, everything seems to be within spec.
Hi, I enjoy your channel I have a craftsman snow blower with a track drive, my problem is with the wheel shifter lever doesn't do anything when shifting to normal to wet snow and when I shift it to transport mode the lever moves back to normal by it self, what do I look for and how can I adjust this thing ? any help is greatly appreciated please if you can direct me with pictures of what to look for Id really appreciate it.
Great job Bob. I'm not a dealer in any parts but I've used stens a lot and I think they are a quality company. Excellent idea with the electrical strap. I've never worked on one like this but I have worked on a few craftsman track drive blowers which are a totally different deal but equally goofy to work on. Congratulations on 100,000 subs !!! You deserve it
I actually watched part 1&2 of your videos this past Saturday to help repair/rebuild a briggs n Stratton single cylinder Intek engine. I tore it apart almost a year ago now and just getting back to it now. Started buying/fixing/reselling lawn tractors a little more than a year ago now. Sold about 7 lawn tractors this past season. I'm and industrial maintenance mechanic by trade(licensed since 1991 and still going) . Your videos helped me lots on Saturday. I have an interesting story behind how I got started in this tractor flipping.
Nice fix; I have a 10 hp Tecumseh in my shop right now with a stripped starter gear caused from loose bolts. Does Stens sell the starters? Thanks for the video.
Hello, I have an MTD 8/26 Track Snow blower MTD E740F000 that doesn't drive I've replaced the drive belts, friction disc and wheel. everything is free turning and spinning like it should with no weight on the tracks. When I tip the machine back over on it's tracks start the motor put in forward or reverse you can see it wants to move but something is binding and holding it. The only thing I didn't replace was the outer Flange Bushings part # 941 0339 or 741 0339 #59 on Jacks Small Engine parts diagram. I noticed when I had everything apart that those outer bushings were worn egg shaped both left and right side, Would that cause everything to bind up and not move, if so should I replace all 4 or can I get away with just the two outer ones. It's an old machine. Thank you in advance for you help.
I have a MTD Yardman 9HP 26" 2 stage with tracks electric start.😅 paid 75.00 put 200.00 into works grate. After I made it go again. I know Stens when I worked UR I ordered parts from them. I also have a very good back round in PT -V, Flat, Round, Conveyor Belts of all kinds. Look up Fast Trax Snowmobile I helped in the development of it. can be seen on U-Tube. 1911 Harley uses a 1-1/4" x 101-3/4" long flat belt if it is the correct material it will go 1000 miles or better factory belt 60miles.
Just replaced a 120 v electric starter on a troy-bilt storm that wasn't track drive. The starter was stripped completely. You ever seen that before? Also ,cleaned the carb on it. Those engine covers are a night mare to get on and off too.
Congrats Bob on reaching 100,000 subscribers! Dont you just love repairing someone elses mess. I would love to send you some snow from Iowa, as i see you have none. LOL. 🇺🇸👍⛄Roger

Stens is a good company. I just rebuilt that K301 and ordered their rings, they were quality parts.
I saw that I thought Stens failed you? I have used their parts, but I just became a Stens dealer, so I can get the parts from them and not a reseller.

I just had bolts on ends of hex drive shaft on an mtd wheel drive come loose. I'm hoping loctite will prevent it from happening again.
How can you tilt the snow blower up that much without loosing gas and oil, did you empty it first? or does the gas and oil stay contained? Nice video.
did you change the belt?

Nothin's ever easy. I thought I was the only one who says that.

Yup, If I replaced the shaft it would of cost an additional $200. If it needs to be replaced in the future it is still going to be $200.
