The premier league I am afraid is full of players from all teams who feign injury. Referees and officials fall for it too easily. As a saints fan I really enjoyed the football in the Championship. The vast majority of players in this division would just get on with the game, the refereeing was better and no VAR! I will do my best to enjoy the premier league this season, but sadly the game is spoilt by these players who overact instead of getting on with the game!

Great performance. We kept possession, created way more chances and were the better team even before the red. We were denied by some good defending and an unfortunate goalkeeping error. It happens. I’m much more hopeful of staying up now than I was before kick off that’s for sure.

First game away at Newcastle was always going to be tough. The lads weren’t afraid to take the game to them so that’s positive. Sugawara excellent on the wing. Edozie wasn’t as effective when he came on. Hard to say because the red card actually hurt us with Newcastle scoring, they just went into lock down and the game became a siege. But I am concerned with his preseason performance and now the first game Edozie doesn’t have an end product or the skill to beat his man. Nice to see all the young lads from the academy getting a shot. I’d like to see my club play with a bit more honour though. There’s one thing about trying to roughing the opponent up some hard tackles, it’s another thing deliberately faking a facial injury to send a man off, it’s a low blow and the club doesn’t need that sort of reputation and style of play, we should deserve to be in the premier league through good play, tactics and the sportsmanship.
