I have tried to do research on this. I can only find a place called Gaul which is the area that encompasses modern day France. Perhaps it was supposed to be Gaul or perhaps the poster has a map where Gual is located. Barbarian means outsider, alien, or other. The Romans used the term "barbarus."
@@lawrencelawsen6824 it's obviously a spelling mistake of Gaul, the only barbarians to scare the Romans more than the Germanic tribes were the Island of the Britons and their druids, basically the holy site for all Celts. Celts on the continent had adopted parts of Greek and Roman lifestyle, the Britons were isolationists and hadn't adopted any outside cultures, so when the Romans arrived they couldn't plan battles properly because they wouldn't fight in a conventional way. Imagine being a Roman soldier sent to a strange island full of strange people, only for some naked guy in blue paint to throw a javelin at you while taunting you in a bog.
This is such cool history. Crazy how much goes amiss over time. I find all hair colors to be beautiful, black hair like the ravens, blonde hair like the sun, copper hair like the fox and so on. 💛 ✨

I love blondes and I'm dark haired it is a natural human instinct to be facinated by those different from a culture community etc.....nowadays in our new era it's becoming rare to be pure blond because everyone is mixing amongst so many races PURE BLONDES ARE BECOMING EXTINCT
Do black women in Africa who don't have hair straighteners have to always cut their hair really short? Cos otherwise it's just a massive round thing on their head?
Hello there. I’m Swedish and Nordic, descended directly from Vikings. I can tell you with certainty blonde was not the most common hair color nor was associated with us back in the day. It was actually one of the rarer ones for Vikings. The reason it comes up like that though is because Vikings saw blonde people as beautiful and would use natural remedies to make their hair slightly lighter. It was just a beauty standard. But most Vikings had black or brown, or light brown hair
As someone who is half danish descendant of vikings too and lives in denmark, I literally have no family members on my danish side that isnt blonde. And I would say there are more blonde people than brown haired people here. So I have no idea why you have this idea that suddenly people back then had a different hair color?
@@Kanasubigi896guys it was less common back in the days. Vikings from mainly Sweden but also some from Denmark went to areas around Poland and found blonde girls which they took home along with the gold and other valuables. Then they made children who had a natural lighter color and a few generations later we were blond.
I think the natural color of a person suits them best. My cousin has golden blonde hair and a few years ago she dyed it black. She looked like a dead body. The natural color of your hair matches your skin tone so her naturally blonde hair made her whole being glow.
My mother in law is 70 and her natural blond hair turned a very light silvery blond and you can hardly tell the difference. She doesn’t dye it or use any color and she still wears it long. I’ve witnessed numerous people stop her to talk to her about it. It really is lovely to look at. My wife(now in her mid 40s) has natural blond hair and she still has no discernible grey. If it is there, it has to be too close to her natural color to see it.
In French I'm always surprised when I see a blonde French person. It's actually rare just like blue eyes. That said my father is blonde hair with blue eyes so is my little brother but I'm very dark.
@vexillarius3356I'm a mosellan as well and I agree, on my mother's side of the family they tend to be blonde, and my mother is blonde as well. Despite having married a Portuguese man, she only had one brunette daughter, me and my other sister are blonde as well, though my two sisters tend to have darker skin than me Not only that, but most white kids I've seen throughout my life (I live in a pretty diverse neighborhood) tend to be blonde as well

@@AntiStraightMaleSociety Yes, but blonds (as defined as 'yellow-haired') aren't a majority in neither Germany, nor the UK, nor Ireland, nor Austria, nor Belgium, nor Germany and ESPECIALLY not FRANCE. False, Romans kept bragging all day and night about having the biggest cock ever recorded and that their political enemies had shrimps. Petronio and Catullo can give you a lot of data and fun stories about this. For example: Verum a te metuo tuoque pene Infesto pueris bonis malisque. Quem tu qua lubet, ut lubet, moveto. @Hans22Eng Lol, you’re trying, I’ll give you that. Like I said, there is a reason we are called Latin lovers. Not only do I personally have a long hard pípe, I can last and know how to use it. On a serious note, you know even with my above average sīze, femałes will still cheat, do you know why? It’s literally in their nature, they are driven to diversify the gene pool but have one guy as the main guy. Not all females are like that but many are… and the fact the other guys are smaller didn’t stop those femałes from riding the carouseł.
@Hans22Eng Also, just so you know, most of Northern Italy is related to you guys, not us. So yes, I could see those guys hiríng Germaníc guards but not Southern Italians. After the EU things have gotten more mixed though and a lot of movement has taken place.
Absolutely! It's wonderful to see your pride in being a brunette. Brunette hair can be incredibly striking and captivating. The range of shades and depth in brown hair is truly remarkable. And I remember dying my blonde hair black because I didn't like to have light hair. I stopped obviously, I am permanently blonde now, we need to learn how to accept the way God made us.
Same, I remember when people would call me "emo" or a fake black hair since many thought I was emo and my natural hair was blonde and dyed my hair jet black just to be "edgy and emo". When in reality my natural hair was always Jet Black hair, I'm blue eyed and white. But I remember back in 2008 when Katy Perry was barely new in the music scene and she was beautiful with jet black hair, blue eyed and white. Even if she was a fake jet black, to me that's her natural hair color and she made me feel not alone lol I know it's a silly story but it gives me memories.
Actually blonde hair wasn't necessarily fashionable, it was more that the bleaching of hair was done to keep lice in check. Same reason wigs were common in much of the near east and northern African populations and shaved heads in Sub Saharan Africa.
I learned this in middle school, about 15 years ago now, did they stop teaching this? It may not be the most important thing to know but I remember it being a random fact in history books.

The law that was made to make prostitutes were blonde wigs was not because it made them " attractive " but becase it made them stand out therefore making it easier to Tax them . Even the upper class Roman women woukd put on a blonde wig just to roam at night and be a hoochie . Then she'd come home throw the wig off and become a "civilized " Roman citizen .

But the % compared to all other societies it’s higher.
As someone who is half danish descendant of vikings too and lives in denmark, I literally have no family members on my danish side that isnt blonde. And I would say there are more blonde people than brown haired people here. So I have no idea why you have this idea that suddenly people back then had a different hair color?
Exactly it's cause they are forced to hate their lineage and people, blonds are for sure from the north.
@@Kanasubigi896guys it was less common back in the days. Vikings from mainly Sweden but also some from Denmark went to areas around Poland and found blonde girls which they took home along with the gold and other valuables. There was a lot of things the Romans hated because they thought they were barbaric. One major trait that benefited most of the men, not so much the women, was about the prefered size 🍆.
Which means "I fear you and your big dick, so nefarious for good and bad boys. Please move your dick as much as you please, move it around , move it .
