- Its Halloween Week! It's Halloween Week! Yaaaay! Only 4 sleeps until the best day ever and I thought I'd show you what I'll be making for my partaay! I'm so excited, can you tell? Every night until the big day I will be showing you how to make neat little spooky treats so that your party can be as ace as mine! Tonight it's Skeleton Gingerbread Cookie time. GO!
RECIPE
350g plain flour, sifted
2 rounded tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
175g chopped cold unsalted butter
175g light soft brown sugar
90g Golden Syrup (if you can't find this Molasses will be a tasty alternative)
1 large egg
Extra flour for dusting
Royal Icing

Just made this recipe, for measurements I had 2 3/4 cup sifted flour , 1/3 cup light syrup, about a stick and a half of butter chopped, 7/8 cup of brown sugar and I found this recipe had too much ginger so next time I am using 2 flat teaspoons of ginger with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Can I use honey insted of golden syrup?

hi Jemma. suppose I make chocolate ganache and pour it over my cake for coating, do I leave it as it is for the ganache to harden? Cause from what I know, leaving the ganache overnight or a few hours makes it "harden" till spreadable texture. & for the end result, will my cake harden if I leave it in the fridge and give it to my friends the next day? Or is it better for me to bake on the same day as the party

Can I ask why you chose to use a food processor, rather than a mixer? And is there a food processor that you would recommend?
If you don’t have a food processor, can you just use an electric hand whisk to make it crumbly/bring the dough together?

Hi CupcakeJemma I made these gingerbread men and they taste great but they all em.. put on a few extra pounds in the oven lol puffed up and didnt keep their shapes properly. Any ideas why this happened and how I could fix it next time, thanks if you have time to reply :)

Cupcake Jemma is golden syrup, corn syrup in the USA?
It's not. Usually its under golden molasses but treacle/black molasses is also good for this
