@@sarahstembel1140 you were great as Christine Daae and to my opinion you sound like a mixture between mostly like Sierra Bogess and a little bit of Sarah Brightman.
This was a wonderful production. I don’t mean to offend, and I hope it is not taken that way, but I appreciate the choice to allow a full-figured Christine to have the spotlight. As a larger singer, I remember getting laughed off the stage each time I auditioned for main parts. Didn’t matter if I had the better vocal skills, I didn’t fit the image, they couldn’t waste the money to rent a “larger costume”, etc. I went to a performing arts high school with the intention of going to college for musical theatre. At the end of my freshman year of high school, my self worth was non-existent thanks to horrible, close-minded teachers who told me I’d never be anything but a joke on stage. I never made it to college for musical theatre; I ended up in therapy instead. And when I did make it to college, I went for my other passion...creative writing. Nowadays, I can’t even sing karaoke without massive panic attacks. I miss the stage, miss performing. I just want to say thank you, on behalf of a larger lady who never got this kind of opportunity. It makes me so happy to see someone like this beautiful woman portray Christine. And truly, I hope I did not offend. To Christine: Your voice is amazing, your emotional adjustments within your musical cues are very smooth, and you are a great actress. A joy to watch.
That's terrible! How sad and nasty! Should've never been that way. Please don't give up. Confront your singing anxiety so you can perform and try to find a group that will accept you and not judge you.
Don't want to make it a pity party now but teachers can really mess kids up for life. I can't understand how they don't think about this when talking to young people and realize their role they have in these formative years. I am truly sorry for what happened to you. I had a similar experience. I actually loved to sing and was not epic good but not bad. One day I was ridiculed by my teacher and she also made me come in front of everybody to preform a high note I couldn't and everybody laughed. She then kicked me out of the class. I never did sing again, never, and I have an issue when I can not make my self scream at all. Anything that includes me "letting out a voice" is not possible, my throat just paralyzes. I wish I could afford a coach to maybe get my voice again, but alas, no money for that.

@@chatbud I think the technique of the Christine from the gold cast was vividly shallow. She was obviously keeping everything safe, not willing to attach emotions to her performance. She just performed for exhibition. I'd rather have this Christine (black cast) perform with the Black Phantom of that Christine. There's beauty and passion in her singing unlike the gold cast Christine. I mean come on, that Christine's singing was obviously less astounding in most ways compared to this
I honestly agree with you! This Christine was way better than the one in the gold cast. The music of the night was so awkward with the other one. Her head literally falls to the wrong side. Like what! Isn't that a very common scene where everyone should know what to do there. I also would have liked to see the other Phantom from the Gold Cast with this Christine. Would have made the production much better.
This Christine has a lighter voice color, which overall suits the character better. The one in the Gold cast, although she sounded very professional, her voice was just a little too operatic and dark for my taste.

I don't think Black Phantom would hide in the sewer under the opera house, wearing a mask to cover his scarred face.
