If you join BuyOrBorrow Music and borrow an Octatrack sampler and sequencer, you might get the same unit I used for this video, in which case my own samples and settings should still be stored on its drive. I deliberately left them there, because it reminded me of renting video games from Blockbuster as a kid and picking up wherever the last player left off. And if you do check out BuyOrBorrow Music, use the promotional code CYBERATTACK to get 20% off your first month's subscription (promotion code valid for a limited time only): hubs.li/Q01t2NXv0

This is the kind of functional exercise I think people should use who think reharmonization is cool but don’t want to mess with tonal theory. Also democratizes vertical harmony (or counter point) writing in a cool way people could pick up when using different voices in their arrangements. I love that. Very very good content.

This is amazing. I'm just getting into theory so it's still too advanced for me, but it's blowing my mind and inspiring me. Previously I'd just feel baffled and frustrated and exposed as a sub-remedial musician.

super useful! brain grew watching this - i’ve always been pissed off at synths that will take a chord and then just stupidly let you play the exact same chord chromatically on the keyboard, but now i see that it’s not so stupid, and I can actually do something with that by adding bass.
plus i always would be putting in different chords into a sampler but now i see i can get away with just one sometimes and do cool stuff with it
love the final version of isnt she lovely

Actually, when you're missing some altered notes, which are melodic intervals anyway, you can play that note as a fill on the upper octave on the bass like a fill, it will sound natural and musical.

I use the Bill Evans move as a basic non JaZZ Dude.
The III chord over the One Chord.
    So over C its E Minor E G B D tp give you a major 9 chord.
    Over A Minor C E G B for an A Minor 9.
The III chord kinda sucks as you get and F a b9 but depends you can make the G a G# and go a tritone.
    Great channel.
I'll have to look at your six half steps move as I play II V I's over every key and the trick sounds "wrong"
    especially the III chord.
Does that mean as you say go to F# if in C and playing the E Minor?
    Like a G 3rd inversion?
    So it's an E with G B D F#
    Always love your videos

    • @CyberattackWorld
      @CyberattackWorld  Год назад

The six half-steps trick will definitely sound weird, but it should only sound about as weird as an altered dominant chord, like a dominant 7 flat-5 or something. For that reason it probably works best when it's being used on some type of V chord.
As for your question, let's start with a ii-V-I in the key of C. Normally that would be Dm7, G7, Cmaj7. If you wanted to do the six-half-step chord sub I talk about in this video for the G7 chord, you would play Db over G, turning the progression into this: Dm7, Db/G, Cmaj7. The Db/G will be dissonant for sure, because it's basically a G7b5b9. But dominant7 flat5 flat9 chords do exist in the world and if you voice it right, and voice the Cmaj7 afterward right, it will sound cool.
