The two ribbon connectors have a black bar behind them. This black bar has to be pulled up to unlock the connectors! Makes removing the ribbon cables much more save an easy.
Excellent video I really appreciate the fact that when you made the mistake with a thermal pad instead of editing it out you turned it into a joke and a learning experience. Can't wait to get mine in the next couple weeks
Believe me... most of us have more than 20 years of experience in hardware and yet, all of us make a stupid mistake now and then. I myself had to have my wife show me that my PC wouldn't start because I hadn't connected the 8-pin PSU plug on the mainboard. It was so obvious to me that I had done that that I didn't think to check it again for 2 hours. Nobody is perfect.... you always have to take it with humour ;-)
@@AlphacoolGmbH lol you are very humble and that is quite refreshing to see hope you're having a great day and please keep making videos like this because it was very helpful
Would love to see a video on the gigabyte GeForce rtx 3080 ti oc block, with a full description of what has been “improved” by the company on the block, would also love to see some more in depth temperature data on the blocks so we can see how they perform.
Love the design of this, great job - I know 3080 fe water blocks can be used for a 3080ti too, but can you advise what thickness thermal pads I would need extra compared to the non FE so I can order in confidence please guys?
Yes, its the same. I just installed one. The only difference is 2 more memory modules, for wich the according thermal pad is long enough. So installation is the same. And it works great!
This is correct, you're meant to, but lots of people destroy the latches trying to get a screwdriver under them and if you use the method shown, the ribbon cables release easily, without causing damage :).
I bought an Eiswolf 2 AIO for my RTX 3090 very recently and am in deep trouble. I have tried to speak to the aquatuning support via discord but communication is difficult. Apparently the pump is not working as it should to forcefully push the water into the block. The AIO is powered by a 3-pin cable to the motherboard. Could you give it better power or more voltage by connecting the water block to a molex source wire? I think I would need a 3 pin (male) to molex (male) cable .... is this possible?
This is 100% correct, but in all honesty, I often do it like this as quite a few people destroy the latches trying to get a screwdriver under them. People don't realise there are 2 different types of latches, and if you use the method shown, the ribbon cables release easily, without causing damage :).
No idea wich PCB layout Alienware has. Dont think its a Founders Edition, maybe Reference design. We dont check Alienware parts because OEM products that have been price-optimised and no longer have anything to do with the end customer products.
are you kidding? the 'manual' is useless. so is this video. you skipped the most important part, the two hundred adapters we're gonna need to plug this damned thing into a controller like the commander xt or any other rgb controller thats not specifically from alphacool.

@@magman687 I dont make the vids, thats Dave :-) Stay tuned for more vids. Wish you a nice weekend. Have fun.
Tyvm for this video! It's really nice to have an official guide to follow when fitting a waterblock.
Great Job Dave! Very thorough and informative!
Hey Dave, the market cooled down. Do we have a 4080 video?
Thank you for this guide. Just picked up this block for a 3080 Ti FE.
I was curious to see if this works for 3080 ti FE I guess so?
I would love to see an installation guide of the eiswolf 2 aio gpu cooler on a 3080, I'm seriously considering getting one
There is no different between Eiswolf 2 GPU coolers and normal DIY coolers.

Are you guys gonna release a video about your new 3080 aio :) ? I bought it last week and I'd love some advices :D
They make AIOs? I definitely need one for my 3080 ti fe.
Pay Dave more. He is an invaluable asset to the company.
Looking at it from the bottom is the left hole the input and the right hole the output?
So this works as part of an Eisbär Pro CPU AIO with extension set (and second radiator) as well?
Video of 7900xtx please. Is that possible? Seeing some temperature problems on the web with Alphacool blocks.. no good solution

i have a 3080ti on this block and i added extra thermal pad in the backplate.
Is 3mm to backplate and 1mm to gpu
Did you ever get an answer to this question?
@@Sniperoidz No, not from the company which I thought was pretty poor, and didn't bode well if I needed support so went with another brand in the end
I wanted to see how you fill the system with water. Unfortunately it is not in the video.
Far out beautiful
Watercooling noob here. How do you control the pump speed?
Hi !
I have question, the protocol is the same for 3080Ti FE? If yes, i just need to buy waterblock for 3080 ? :)
Thank for you answer :)
Ever get an answer for this-or try it yourself?
Yes, its the same. I just installed one. The only difference is 2 more memory modules, for wich the according thermal pad is long enough. So installation is the same. And it works great!
Great Video brother!!!
:O You're supposed to open the latches before pulling out the ribbon cables.
This is correct, you're meant to, but lots of people destroy the latches trying to get a screwdriver under them and if you use the method shown, the ribbon cables release easily, without causing damage :).
Hi my RGB no work when I plug in argb...that could be soft? Or should work straight when I connect the argb plug

Is it possible to use higher quality thermal pads like those from thermal grizzly? Are they even compatible or too stiff?
Will it work on 3090 asus TUF? Thanks for answers
This will work on the 3080 *TI* FE too, right?
Uh, lift the black strip on those tiny ribbon connectors and it comes out much easier.
This is 100% correct, but in all honesty, I often do it like this as quite a few people destroy the latches trying to get a screwdriver under them. Guys nice video but when can I buy the Alphacool Eiswolf 2 for my RTX 3080 FTW 3 Ultra I've been waiting for so long.
Not sure. Maybe in 4-6 weeks.
That dry thermal paste around around core scares me. Any other way safer to do it?
You can just leave it. Clean the thermal paste off the die and forget about the rest. It makes no difference to temps
Now if only there were RTX 3080's available to actually watercool!
how do i tell which is inlet and outlet
Any 3080Ti FE active backplates yet?
The TI doesnt need active backplate. It has only memory modules on the front. The passive backplate with the provided pads works well enough.
Is this waterblock compatible with the 3080 Ti?
Wondering the same. Any luck figuring it out?
Yes it is. (FE)
Is this the same block I would use for an Alienware 3090?
