I had terrible morning sickness for the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy with my son. Was throwing up 3-5 times a day (on a good day) Lost 13 pounds. I survived on ginger chews, Gatorade and popsicles. I couldn’t eat anything. I could barely take my prenatal. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! Can’t wait for the next update! Praying for a healthy pregnancy for you!

Same! My schedule was pretty much sleep until 10:30-11 a.m, eat breakfast (usually waffles, pancakes, etc.), throw it up, take a four hour nap, get up, try to eat lunch/dinner (usually pb&j sandwich or soup of some sort), maybe throw it all up, and then go to sleep around 10:30 p.m.. It was honestly the most awful thing. I lost 7 pounds and thought I would never be back to normal again. The vomiting didn’t stop until about week 14-15, and started the day I was 6 weeks- so almost 9 weeks of throwing up every single day.

I am 11 weeks and here is what worked for me during the past several weeks of morning sickness all throughout the day.
The biggest thing for me was my prenatal I was taking the garden of life organic prenatals which I also had previously taken their regular woman's vitamin. I was doing good on that prenatal for the first 6 weeks but after that it increased my morning sickness substantially until I changed it to prenatal gummies during this time. I currently take the organic smarty pants which I will eventually go back to garden of life after this period of nausea because there are more vitamins in the pill as apposed to the gummies however this was a life changer for me when it came to nausea.
The other thing I suggest is that sometimes i have to get up in the middle of the night to have a snack or if not first thing in the morning, something plain and easy on the stomach to get you going it doesn't have to be a heavy meal just a good snack to get started.
Get a good amount of protein. I notice if I didn't get enough protein or calories in a day not only that day but by the next day I really feel the effects and my morning sickness really kicks in.
Ice cold water is great for nausea not just any water but that sip of ice cold water really helps. If you are having trouble with plain water adding some lemon really helps with nausea or other frozen fruits in your water can add a bit of flavor and electrolytes for hydrating.
Stay away from heavy spices and stay away from tomatoes or tomato based sauces.
Snack light and often. I usually split my meals into several smaller meals now. Instead of one big meal I'll eat a little bit every 2 or 3 hours and spread it out throughout the day.
Eat what you can when you can. It's better to eat something then nothing at all and if you are trying to eat something (even if it is healthy like green veggies) but it's making you vomit then don't push yourself into eating that and try something else. You are not getting the benefit of those veggies anyways when your throwing it up. In ways focus on nutrition and what you can during this time and fit in healthy stuff when you can but don't push to hard and cause the opposite negative effects on you and baby.
Smoothies are a good way to add in some fruits and veggies when you are feeling up for a smoothie. I often mellow it out with some almond milk and water when the fruits seem to acidic for my liking.
Ginger capsules or tea throughout the day definitely makes a difference.
Vitamin B6 & magnesium both great for managing nausea.
I also have these candies for upset stomach lemon ginger honey drops with B6 by upspring you can take a couple of those throughout the day to take the edge off in between you making food for a quick fix but it's only temporary and you still need to find some food.
I wet wash cloth on the forehead or around the neck on a hot summers day has really helped me as well.
Every momma is different and so do what's best for you but this is what helped me so hopefully it helps someone else!
I know your very knowledgeable and I love your videos I only comment my suggestions cus I've been recently battling it out with my morning sickness the last several weeks and was hoping to help whoever else is battling with it.
I appreciate your videos thanks for making so many educational videos for pregnant mommas and I hope you feel better soon!

Hearing about you talk about your morning sickness now actually strangely brings back fond ish memories of my own... funny how our bodies try to trick us!! Lol! Maybe it’s because I love my baby boy soooo much I would do it all over again 1000x to have him 💕 Congratulations on your pregnancy!! So happy for you and look forward to hearing your updates! That feeling of morning sickness is actually so comforting to me. I suffered a chemical pregnancy in 2016 and an early miscarriage in early 2017, and both times I didn’t feel sick. For my three pregnancies that made it (currently 28 weeks 4 days), I immediately felt sick at or before five weeks. I get so sick that I can’t function, so doxilamine and vitamin b are a life saver. I wish I could give them up, but if I try to go without, the next day I am too sick and usually throw up. On it, I function like normal.

I can completely understand what you are saying. I had my first BFP in Dec 2020 and MC followed Jan 2021. I didn't have any symptoms 😢. Now I'm 6 weeks and I'm nauseous 😫🤢🤮, but I see it as a great sign. I want to say that I don't care if I vomit but I hate this feeling. I just love knowing my baby is there 😭😭😭😍🥰.

Oh my goodness, I don't miss the morning sickness at all! Every single morning I'd be dry-heaving for a good 10-20 minutes, then suddenly it would stop and I'd be ok for the rest of the day. I'd still be nauseous, but I could usually avoid more dry heaving. If I was able to wake up naturally, without an alarm clock, it was better. But any time I had to wake up forcefully, the nausea was so much worse. I couldn't talk to my husband without the dry heaves going into overdrive. I was afraid to shower because that seemed to make it worse. Sooo not fun.

Through my first pregnancy I only throw up twice. Once is because I stayed in the hot sun all day long and had a bad headache. Second time is I had coffee empty stomach. This time around I started to get sick around 4-5 weeks. I'm 10 weeks now. And I'm 99.99% sure it's a girl. My mom was really sick when she had me. I'm also her only child. Each day I cry, feeling depressed, even had suicidal thoughts. I'm counting down days and hopefully it will end soon.

New to your channel. Just about 5 weeks pregnant. I am taking The garden of life prenatal vitamins + ocean mom prenatal DHA. I like these prenatal vitamins the best as of right now.
Also I have been drinking a lot of ginger tea. Have not had too much morning sickness. It is amazing how the ginger takes it away. You are right about not feeling symptoms and thinking you are not pregnant anymore. This is a little scary. Then later in the day you feel tired or slightly ill in the morning.
    Thank you for your video.

The fatigue has always been the same for me, boy or girl. BUT I was always sicker with my girls. I was still pretty sick with boys, but it was a little more manageable and it went away several weeks sooner. Ice cold lemon water, with a ton of lemon, helped me the most this last time.

Congratulations! Yes, it is a rough part of pregnancy, and it can be difficult to remember the miracle growing inside you when you are nauseous all the time and don’t feel like yourself. But it’s so comforting to remember that 🥰 That’s so funny about the old wives tales! I have two girls and a boy, and I did feel pretty sick with all three of them, but I will say the fatigue was worse with my son. Interesting lol

I usually cut a piece of fresh ginger and add it to a cup of hot water. It does help a bit. I also have that feeling that now plain water isn't cutting it and makes me feel gross. My husband and I take a walk every morning to a little juice spot, have some orange, carrot and ginger juice and that seems to be helpful. Anyway, good luck to all those sick mamas!

Liver and other red meats have lots of folate, as well heme iron. It's easier to absorb in the body then plant sources. In fact plants tend to have anti-nutrients, which means that it can be even harder to get that nutrition. You are doing soo well though! Thanks for these amazing videos.

My morning sickness was way worse with my son than my daughter. I threw up 1-2x a day until 16 weeks with him.

I have been taking ritual prenatal. I like it a lot but I do sometimes get a little nauseas (and I’m not even pregnant) if I take it too early in the am. But please let us know if you take ritual!! My hubby and I are trying for baby number 2 so I’d like your take on it. :)

I had nausea from 6.5 weeks to 25 weeks. It stoped and came back at 30 weeks but it’s all hormonal.Try to sleep in the morning til 8am. I would notice in the weekend I wouldn’t throw up in the mornings. Getting up 4:30am would give it to me good with the nausea on the way to work lol had to stop in the corners of the city.! Once I ate a something light a bagel oatmeal toast it would help me with my prenatal . I would be good at work and the horror would start in the afternoon ... I have a boy coming along.

Hi Bridget, thank you for all the great videos! I am wondering about your ginger advise in this one, though. The health authorities in Denmark (where I'm from) advise pregnant women against "drinking ginger shots or taking supplements containing ginger" as "research has shown that high amounts of ginger may increase the risk of abortion". They do write that it's okay to have ginger in one's food, as the amount will be low - but I do wonder about ginger tea throughout the day for a long period of time + ginger bites. Could it be too much? Thanks.

I’m 8 weeks and really really struggling with nausea. I’ve only thrown up once and feel like such a wimp but this is so so hard.

Thanks for your channel! It helped me give birth to my son, unmedicated like I prayed for, on New Year's Eve. 🙂 And congrats on the new baby to come!!

Is all day nausea considered morning sickness or is morning sickness mainly when you throw up???

    • @RoliePole.e
      @RoliePole.e 4 года назад +1

I’ve been told they call it morning sickness because it usually starts in the morning and lasts all day sometimes 😂 however I think it’s when you throw up or not and just nauseous it’s still considered morning sickness . However I’m sure Bridget will tell you better than I can 😄

There actually are some studies in regards to the old wives tales about being more sick with a girl and more so nauseous with boys but not actually throwing up. They have found that girl babies tend to have a higher HCG level which causes the crazy pregnancy symptoms so it would make sense.. with my son I only threw up 3 times and 1 was due to covid. However for some women like my Sis , they throw up regardless 🤣 very strange!

I took 2/3 of the serving of Garden of Life prenatal vitamin before we wanted to try for a baby and it sent me into a whirlwind of vitamin B6 toxicity that was damaging my brain cells and causing my muscles not to work right. $3000 in medical bills later, we finally talked to a Neurologist who knew what he was doing and asked if I was taking a vitamin of any kind. He said he saw 4 vitamin B6 toxicities a week, that the vitamin industry is a multi-million+ dollar industry, and that women should try their best to get nutrients from their food as their body does the rest. He also had children of his own who he did not give vitamins to. The minute I stopped taking the My Kind Organics prenatal vitamin, my B6 levels went back to normal, and I was able to walk, run, and live my life again. Unless you have tested low in a specific nutrient, do NOT take a multivitamin. We are not a one size fits all ladies! PLUS, check out that research on prenatal vitamins... it was done in countries and time periods where access to nutritious food was limited. If you are deficient because of your diet, please change your diet instead of thinking you can eat harmful foods and make up for it with a prenatal....

Coke has helped me A LOT. I go through 2-3 cans coke each day. I know they have a lot of sugar in them. But at this point I just don't care cause I'm on survive mode. And I take unisome+b6 before bed. It helps me sleep so at least I'm not miserable at night. I'm 10 weeks now. Really hope it ends soon.
