Don't tell anyone but I did try 5 and 15 degrees off camera. 5 degrees, the wedge dropped about 75% and 15 degrees dropped about 50%. 30 degrees seems to be the sweet spot as it only dropped about 2 or 3mm. But I'm happy to be proved wrong.
Very good idea! Question, and this is something I've always wondered about all band saw boxes. Do you find your gap is uneven because of the single entry kerf?
Because it creates a miter. The cut is now 45 degrees away from the back of the box. You can't see it, the drawer face overlaps a bit. Whereas before the cut was always 90 degrees from the back and you could see straight down the gap.
Very informative an super easy watch. I find your personality adds so much to this craft! Thank you!
That's very kind of you to say. Thank you
Very informative and inspirational. I find the narration delightful, great to listen to.
Thank you very much. 👍
Brilliant. The gaps are the main thing that frustrates me about bandsaw boxes. Nice work.
I agree, the gaps make them look unfinished. I'm sure there is a better way to be found yet.
With that drill press trick, you win the internet for weirdest sanding technique ever...
😂 check out how I used it in this video ruclips.net/video/KfKctHY7wPQ/видео.htmlsi=L0fWBnPEvmwhrud8
5.43 you best. Its do my day.

Thanks Steveo, I strongly recommend all of my other videos. 👍
Love this kind of stuff I've watched a lot of your videos lately. Looking forward to seeing more of your original content.
Nice one I appreciate that. Making stuff and figuring things out is fun isn't it?
@@MartinMurrayWoodDesign absolutely. Love spending my spare time just seeing what can be done with bits n bats.
Congrats!
Excellent video. Very informative, I will be trying this method on my next bandsaw box. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. Good luck with your bandsaw box. 👍
Great informative video!
Thanks Kelly. Shame I didn't have any quarter sawn oak.
@@MartinMurrayWoodDesign i love the way you explain why the gap is there. I have been watching your other vids too.
Another above average vid. Keep them coming 👍 well above average. Bloody superb in fact.

You sweet talker, you are always welcome here. 🙌
@@MartinMurrayWoodDesign 🤣🤣
Why not enter with the ply direction so yo can fill the saw gap and not notice?
That sounds like a good idea. 👍
Very cool!
Thank you very much sir 👍
nice, I’ll tray. Thank you.
👍
Another enjoyable vid, thanks 👌
No thank you 🙌
Neat. Could you do the 1st prototype strategy, but just a 5 or 10 degree angle?

The uneven gap in my opinion, is the worst part about bandsaw boxes. Hopefully someone will watch this video and come up with a better way. 🤞
@@MartinMurrayWoodDesign {I was thinking something like cut all the way thru on the entry cut, so the whole thing shifts down, not just one side.
@@BenNawrath that would totally work, you would have two glue lines to hide but if that's ok with you then give it a try. 👍
@@MartinMurrayWoodDesign yeah depending on the grain pattern maybe it would even be easier 🤷🏻♂️
I enjoyed that.
Cool
I'm still not sure why cutting at an angle reduces the gap. But it's nice to see a man on a mission.
I struggled to put it into words myself. 🤦♂️
Because he can then recess the drawer in further to remove the gap. Then sand away the front of the outer shell to same depth of the drawer
@@JohnColgan. 👏
Thanks both!
