    Thank you for a really good video. I think I missed my calling in life. I love shoes and boots and would love to learn this craft. This just popped up on my feed and had to subscribe. I'm 63 and retired now. I told my wife that I had missed my calling. She said it's never too late to start a new career. That's why I married a winner, always supportive. Thank you again for sharing your craft and I will continue to watch and learn. Peace and Love my friend.

      Thank you my friend. Your wife is 100% correct. Follow your dreams! Find a shop near you even if it’s not a great shop. Learn everything you can. Improve daily and always try new techniques. Don’t get stuck doing things the same way. I’m always trying to improve. Lots of times you will go back to the original way but sometimes you find a gem

    Beautiful work sir, its good to see artisans still doing proper work on shoes. Wolverine has really dropped the ball on their 1000 mile boots, i know this is a cheaper model but it just brings down the brand as a whole.

      Thank you! My dad use to always say “if you have time to do it wrong, you have time to do it right”
      I couldn’t of put it better myself.. but what’s really happening in the US leather industry is shareholders are pushing down the price to create more profit.

      @@georgiosbottega7753 its the tragedy of our time. People just want the look but aren't willing to pay for the quality, add a profit driven company amd industry and you end up with companies going the cheaper route every time.

    • @georgiosbottega7753
      @georgiosbottega7753  3 года назад +2

      So sad! I’m glad that there is a small niche for quality. But this was done slowly so people didn’t see it. We are programmed to buy cheap

      I know I'm a little late to the game for this comment, but doesn't the fact that it's at Burlington Coat Factory mean that these are factory seconds? To me, that's a sign that they aren't dropping the ball at all. QC did its job, and instead of being sent to a shop to be sold at full price, they are being sold as seconds.

    • @mightymikethebear
      @mightymikethebear Год назад +1

      @@ryewhiskeyblues I was wondering if the boots in the video are seconds. I found a website that is claiming to be a Wolverine authorized store and they are selling 1000 mile boots in the $200 or less range and the Wolverine official site has them listed for 2X that price.

    You pulled the old threads out. Bravo. You get a "like", and you get a new subscriber. (I had a cobbler not pull the old threads out of my Allen Edmonds black cap toe Park Avenue's, and the stitching on the welt...was all jumbled up. I was mad. So any cobbler who pulls the old threads out...is my kind of cobbler).

    Great work here doing what they failed to do at the factory.

    Those are factory seconds. Rejected by quality control. That is why Burlington Coat Factory has the shoe for $75. The spot of glue on the upper was probably why the shoe was rejected. As for lesser quality components like the heel block and heel rand....... Georgio is absolutely correct. When footwear is sold at a premium, the customer should get better quality. Unfortunately, many higher priced shoes are using lower quality components. Why? Profit. The cheap soles, heels, heel rand, thread, etc...... it will all work, and last for years. There is no way that a customer will come back, and file a warranty claim against the shoe. Why? Because the company will reject the claim. What is the reasonable expectation? Do you think that your shoes should last 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year? How fast can you wear out a pair of cheap shoes, then expect to return it for a refund?
