It clearly caught him off guard. With more time, I'm sure he would've felt that way but it makes sense. He couldn't lie to her. I would like to see them further explored though.

Maeve and Otis are excrutiating to watch. I think they can be great friends but I think Ruby is a better match. She challanges him and he makes her a better person.
Otis and Maeve do exactly the same thing for each other, only she's not superficial. After Ruby and Otis split, she went back to having her clique talk and act for her. Unfortunate that she was written that way, given the growth she developed with Otis. Maeve challenged Otis too, Ruby wanted to change Otis to be more like her. Otis accepts Maeve for who she is and gives her agency. He does that with Ruby, too, but I think that's just who Otis is. He gives everyone agency. Maeve also gave Otis the opportunity to find what appears to be his passion in helping people. I think she's given him more than Ruby did.

People forget Ruby, took Otis's virginity. She clearly liked him from the season 2 party onwards, The smirk when he said Maeves "scary but pretending" The dancing together, the forest scenes, the cycle ride, the fraught look on her face every time Otis said he'll end it. The shows of public affection. She loved him far more than Maeve did. I'm still shocked he's still hung up on Maeve. I'm hoping it's just an infatuation but he will realise he has a much better connection with Ruby.. Have one of those romcom flash backs to all the good times! The writers probably did too good a job selling this relationship as it looks far better and natural than Otis x Maeve. Exactly. I had called it in that moment when they were sitting on the tree, and she thanked him for checking in. You could see the actual ruby in that moment. She felt cared for. I too hope Otis will realize she really cared for him, no holds bar unlike Maeve who’s a ball of confusion, and never making Otis feel like he was a priority

Despite season 3 being the best season, making Ruby and Otis a thing was the biggest mistake because they didn’t anticipate the dynamic and chemistry they’d have together. Being honest they blow Maeve and Otis out the park in terms of a couple for entertainment. Maeve and Otis are so boring to watch in comparison.

The only flaw in Otis and Maeve’s relationship is humanizing Ruby’s character. She is the epitome of what the main character in every love story is. Maeve and Otis were always in the “will they, won’t they” situation, but they do love each other. It’s just Otis’ character grew so much through the series, in someways he outgrew Maeve. This version of Otis would have stayed with Ruby in real life, because they compliment each other. While Maeve and Otis are a lot alike as the season progressed, and as with every relationship that’s a recipe for disaster. But who knows maybe the writers will hit the right spot, and convince us that Maeve and Otis’ relationship isn’t just for the sake of plausibility. This is high school for christ’s sake maybe making the storyline more in synch with reality is the best way to go.
Honestly hated how the season ended with Otis finally getting Maeve but Maeve leaving to go to America. It just felt too soon for them to be together. The biggest crime was the writers playing with the audience's heart strings for Otis to end up with Ruby and completely forgetting her after kissing Maeve.

3:13 favorite part of the whole series. I love the way Ruby gradually opened up to Otis, begins to not care about what others think. She changed herself to love Otis. It's truly a shame that they didn't get to be together. Tbh, I think they are one of my favorite fictional couples.

I love how when u notice that Otis never gave in to Ruby like in the bathroom scene they argue silently and he goes away despite what she wants and when she tells him he's wearing homeless clothes he says he isn't changing for her and they can split up. That turned her on even more cause no one dares treat Ruby that way except him. I love seeing that type of realistic chemistry. Also it broke my heart when she saw Maeve and Otis kiss :(

When eric hypes him up about the insanity of what hes doing it just makes me realize how fucking awesome this show is, and how i wasted my years in high school. Oof. I know a dark but true. I think thats the point of the show though, especially with meave that you have to act in the moment and not let them pass. Because youll regret them. And the sad thing is that i seem to keep leanring these things after ive missed them.

I literally started watching this show just because of these two , I kept seeing videos like this on instgram and I decided, hey why not ! I haven't had a show to watch in a while , I didn't even know otis was the main character at the time, and even though they set it up to make you care about him and Mave. I actually really liked ruby and otis relationship in S-3. Aside from thr aspects of it being the hot girl gets with the nerdy guy which i liked,You actually see character growth for both of them, otis steps out of his comfort zone, but also becomes more confident and says what he means, and ruby ends up changing her character for OT, because she likes him, She goes from being a posh , full of herself person to someone who actually cares about other people and also opens up to him and showing her family life and all that. And so I think the show does a good job at showing that. Over all , I think they handled the relationship really well , it was very believable, wah more then the one with Ola. I Just wish they made the relationship last a little bit longer

Or the writers can do this for season 4, otis and meave explore their relationship together but they remain friends with Isaac and ruby but during the season otis and meave see that they are not really good together but better as friends during their relationship they realise they are better for Isaac (Meave) and Ruby (otis) then near end of the season they end up getting back together with those 2 but then they will be a cliffhanger than then proceeds to season 5… I really don’t want this show to end! The writers have something really good going on and it can’t just end.

I love this because we get to see Ruby, who is driven and just amazing and Otis, who genuinely cares about her and is there for her. They're soooo endgame material!!!!!!
