Mt. Apo Climb : Day 4 - Camp Gudi-Gudi to Purok Paradise (May 15, 2024)

This is the last day of our hike. We left Camp Gudi-Gudi at around 8:15 am. After crossing a stream, we were met by Vince who will be our guide for the Kapatagan Trail. Mt. Apo is located on the tripartite border of Davao City and Davao del Sur in the Davao Region, and Cotabato in Soccsksargen. Climbers are required to get an accredited guide for each province that they will pass through. Along the way, we passed through a lot of farmlands on our trek back to the flatlands of Kapatagan until we reached Purok Paraiso where our van was waiting for us. Popoy noted that these farmlands are slowly eating up the forest at the foot of Mt. Apo. This is the sad reality of our times and the price we have to pay for progress. On our last day, we hiked 7.63km with an elevation gain of 42m in 4 hours. Before heading back to Davao, we stopped by for lunch and also went to Marawer hot spring for a dip at their pools to relieve our tired bodies. Many thanks to my companions on this climb. It is truly one memorable experience that I will always cherish.
