    Your comments on the state of the music industry are an indication of a generation. We didn't grow up with Spotify and $200 concert tickets, so those changes have overpowered the nostalgia for the music. The irony is I can go to any thrift store and get all of my childhood albums (now on CD of course) for 25 cents.

    Brendon, I think in respect to the music industry comments I think there are a few other issues as well impacting physical sales. First most people in this age of instant access to anything and everything simply don’t have or want to commit the patience to listening to an album. I think this is especially true if it isn’t a huge artist. Then there is the issue of going out and finding and purchasing it. Their phone gives them instant access to music and that is enough for most casual listeners. I think there is the problem of the limited physical distribution. You travel to record stores all around you to purchase but none of the stores around where I am even carry any CD product at all. It is only vinyl. Of course there is online but that takes another level of effort. I did buy the Tull live box set and I am glad that I own it! I know I missed out on several of the Tull album box set releases and I am hoping for some reprints one day. They are fantastic. Enjoy your weekend. Thank you for your videos and hard work.

      Yes, nostalgia acts way past their use by date, but still doing passable to weak releases. Def Leppard and soft metal acts just milk it to death.

    I'm not really surprised about the Tull number at all, I mean its a box set those things are really not big which is usually why they have so few copies, and if they dont move somewhere down the line the price will drop. I saw this happening alot I recall when the Prince Estate released the "Sign O the Times" box set now this was reagarded as his best album ever in the catalog and I will agree on that, in America it sold about 1.5 million back in the day was huge overseas doubling that total, the box set came out and I have heard the thing barely has sold 50,000 to date and it came out in 2020. So I think we dont realize that these boxes really dont sell a huge amount. I mean this Police box set coming in a few weeks this is an album that sold 8 million in America alone I can guarantee that this doesn't sell more than 30, 40 thousand.

    I'm not into the avatars either... I think that would be a complete joke but I honestly don't think it has anything to do with an actual band decision. I think that has more to do with who they sold the catalogs to. Bc they're going to want as many ways as possible to keep their investment going when the bands aren't able to tour anymore. That's sad

    I think album( CD,cassette etc…) sales are way down for a multitude of reasons.
    1 Poor exposure particularly to an average music listener. Radio was highly used by nearly all of us in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s.
    2 Over saturation. Bands can record much easier then back in the day.
    3 This kind of connects with my first one but poor record company promoting.
    4 Prices are up.
    5 People are too busy and prefer to hear what they already know.
    I’m a choosy buyer and would buy more if budget allowed . I like to discover new music by bands of the past and new bands. I find myself accomplishing this through Amazon, RUclips (thanks Brendon) and FB music groups I’m in.

    Skid row just sounds ridiculous now... I mean you've got Sebastian Bach willing to put everything aside for the fans and you won't do it. They just must be Masters at holding grudges. Honestly they should just hang it up because they never had a good singer again until they got Erik gronwall. And I gotta feeling he didn't just leave bc of health reasons... I mean is there a reason they've had 10 different singers that none of them ever worked out...?

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  Месяц назад +1

      Erik was only their 5th singer. As for Sebastian rejoining, if the guys in the band don’t get along with him then why should they do it just for the fans? As much as I’d like Sebastian to return as well, they should enjoy what they’re doing and not be forced to work with someone they don’t like. Erik is not the only good singer out there and I’m quite confident that they will find someone amazing. I just hope it doesn’t take too long.

    • @georgeprice4212
      @georgeprice4212 Месяц назад

      There’s a good reason why the other members of Skid Row won’t reunite with Bach, and it’s not a well kept secret. Snake has long talked about what went on, and he decided that he would never work with Bach again.

    • @bigjermboktown6976
      @bigjermboktown6976 Месяц назад +3

      @@BrendonSnyder yeah it just sucks when Sebastian Bach's band sounds more like skid row than skid row. And yes I know they didn't have 10 singers that my way of saying it's probably time to just hang it up if you got to keep searching for singers and I'm sure there are plenty of singers that could join but nobody's going to be Sebastian Bach or Erik. And when he joined the band I thought finally they found someone perfect for that band.

      If Axl, Slash and Duff can get back tougher and tour, if Van Halen brothers can tour with Roth who they hate, then anyone can tour together. Skid Row can easily tour and have separate buses and literally only need to see Sebastian on stage.

    I found it interesting in your statement that albums sales doesn't produce profits due to decreases in sales. If this is true then this condition is a continuation of an attack on the music industry. Bands only relying on live performances can't survive if they can't get their band's music out in commerce to generate new interest in their band and music.
    Ticket prices, tee shirts and CDs prices will go up to the point that poor economic conditions as we have now will cause people not to be able to share their limited wealth with the band, creating the band to eventually not to be able to continue in music.
    In the end, it is critical that CD, DVD and vinyl sales must become stable commodity in commerce to sustain the music industry. Otherwise social media on the Internet will become the main staple to hear music. The band will loose monetary compensation and protection of their intellectual property (music). This is the big issue.

    • @georgeprice4212
      @georgeprice4212 Месяц назад

      CD prices are, right now, exactly where the Album prices were in the 80’s. If anything is the cause for the higher price of vinyl albums it’s the publishing payments. Remember, copyrights in America work different than in the UK (American copyrights are per song, UK copyrights are for the entire album, no matter how many tracks.)
