What did you guys think of the story? 😊

The meaning to me was: she definitely lost her faith in the end. And by stopping believing in God, the devil in her also disappeared, since it was part of the faith-package. When you shake the object in the end, all your "holy points" go to waste, so the less holy she was, the less evil she also was. That's my interpretation btw

A perfect depiction of the reality of depravity that comes with religion. People who believe they can be forgiven by an imaginary god are the most dangerous, this videogame shows why.

i agree with you! i also think the coins/level ups are there to show how much experience/knowledge she gained, and at the end getting it all back is what she really got out of finding this religious artifcant

Thank you! I can definitely see where you're coming from. The coins and level-ups are an interesting way to quantify and reflect the knowledge and experience she gained through finding this artifact. And you make a great point about how getting it all back at the end shows the real value was in the journey and personal growth she went through.

I like the interpretation! I would also add one little thing.
I think that religion, life in monastery etc. are metaphors for Indika surpressing her feelings about Mirko's death. We all know that surpressing our trauma leads to nothing good.
Throught the game Indika can light lamps infront of icons. In the last part of the game(Monestary of St John of Damascus), the last lamp you can light( I am not 100% sure, but I think it is) is infront of a photograph of Karl Marx. Karl Marx is the cofather of socialist doctrine. I think he was the one who said that religion is opium for the masses.
Religion was Indika's ,,opium" to surpress the trauma. You've theorised that Indika letting go of her trauma symbolises how it could've only gotten from herself and not from something external. I think that the reason the last lamp Indika can light is infront of Karl Marxes photo because it is in that part of the game that she realises healing and moving on only comes from herself. Her rationality and we could say that here Karl is metaphor for rationality.

I think the story implies religion is a game, a made up story with no substance. In the end she realizes the artifact is worthless, and she’s all alone.

last part indica saw herself not anymore demon cause indika lost her faith, demon succesful doing his job and leaving indika in lost, this is why she saw herself in mirror, for me this game interesting, i just done finished today, but leaving me lot of unsatiesfied and question, if u feel this too, mean you sick as me 😅

I think Ilya talking about free will during the whole journey was a foreshadow. His religion was a way to save himself and it controlled him because of the constant reminder of his rotting arm, but he traded it for it at the end for music, which is a passion of his, that brings meaning to his soul. Of course his faith was most likely broken by then since the artifact didn’t work, but he moved on the next best thing. I was really hoping Indika and him were gonna be a couple too ;/

That’s a really insightful take on Ilya's character! His faith was definitely a driving force, even if it was a bit misguided at times. It's cool that you picked up on how his beliefs both saved and controlled him. And trading the artifact for music at the end shows he found a new passion to move forward with. Thanks for sharing your perspective. 😊

Was there an option where Indika don't shake the kudet? Because after 2 or 3 shakes an option to leave it pops up.. Does it change anything?

Was a total let down with how much the beginning captures your interest. It really makes you think something is going to happen other than some weak religious debate. Everybody keeps showing the dancer coming out of the nuns mouth to show you how her mental illness is so twisted that at that time and in that setting its easily mistaken as the devil.
But after that scene she becomes a bland nun with doubts about religion who only has a negative dialogue going on every once in a while.
Play hellblade if you want to see a mental illness used properly in a historical fantasy. I enjoyed your video very much but I feel like that hallucination scene at the beginning was just youtube bait and no extra effort was put into her illness after so the two topics didnt meld`

I completely hear you! The beginning really grabs you and sets up some intriguing expectations. It's understandable to feel let down if the rest didn't quite live up to that strong start. Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and offer your perspective, even if it didn't fully meet your hopes. Cheers! 😊

Although I disagree a little with this I was very disappointed about the fact that they had this amazing mechanic of praying and it was only used twice in the entire game?! Seemed like it could have played a much bigger part in the two voices in her head, not just for changing levels, but for decision making as well as she went on her journey.

Even thought I did enjoy the game and it what it set to do, I agree and wished that the hallucination thing wasn't just a one off thing but I expected it to be a major part of the game like Hellblade.

The scene where she is falling down in the red talking to the devil reminds me Carl Jung philosophy of accepting your shadow.
