“More than 6 years ago I never imagined traveling to see you sing.”
My encounter with "Major Tom", more than 10 years ago, was a blast to a far-far away place in the Space, a nostalgic and safe place… that time I realized it was “the song”.
Since that time you have inspired my artistic work and my life and I promised myself that one day I would meet you. No matter how much time passes, dreams come true, traveling from Mexico to Deutschland was the greatest (and crazy) adventure of my life and hear you in live it was as if the gates of the Universe opened in front of my eyes.
My words seem insignificant, for how much you represent, I take you everywhere, your music has saved me many times and has changed my life, “Major Tom” isn't just a song, it is a hymn to the Cosmos that I have tattooed on my soul.

I have a story for you, Peter Schilling. When I was in 8th grade, in a small town in the smallest state in the United States, my parents were divorcing and the only thing I wanted was to help the world. Fix Cold War, hunger, fear. I would wake up every morning at 5:00 am, watch the news, and blast Major Tom! It was an anthem for a little girl going through so much personal pain, but with hope for the future. Now I am 52 years old, and trying to finish my PhD. I am a single mom who has not been able to save the world, but I have worked so hard to save my family. I never travelled, never had my “four, three, two, one”…. but I pray that it will come soon. I cry when I hear your music, Peter. I cry for the dreams of the little girl I once was, and I hope that this is my year! Thank you for your gift of “promise” always!

Lori, you are not alone. Many of us draw inspiration from the same source. I also am 52 and have spent countless hours dissecting Peter's music. One particularly emotional night I documented my feelings while listening to Major Tom on repete and before the sun rose I put nearly 30 emotions to paper. We are all touched in different ways but some of us are touched in the same ways. Find the blessings in all you do, Doctor!

I can only imagine how you must have felt that night. Life is full of promises, some broken. We are given many gifts along the way, however. Community is one of these. I love the video. Would be nice to see more freedom everywhere in the world and more family cohesiveness. Those big family reunions of the 60s are gone. Family is the glue that holds people together and when that is gone many people fall apart. I have made a promise to promote this.

I promised myself I would get through college. As of right now I'm on track to graduate with an interpreter degree and I couldn't be happier. Thank you for all your music, it has been a long journey, but every song has been either a comfort or an inspiration

This year I have promised myself to relax and enjoy life. The past few years I have been so overcome with anxiety about the future that I haven't taken time to enjoy the moments while they happened. This year I want to plan for my future as I graduate, but I also want to take care of myself in the present.
I am so excited for this song! I'm sure it will be as amazing as all the others!

Wow! Einfach nur geil! Schön, dass Peter Schilling wieder da ist und prompt auch wieder überzeugt. Mega Respekt. Bin mit Major Tom groß geworden und drehe immer noch voll auf, wenn der Song im Radio läuft. Der neue Titel gefällt mir auf englisch und deutsch gleichermaßen. Wie auch The World hold on. Warum spielen die Stationen die Lieder nicht rauf und runter? Das Album Neu & live ist ein sehr guter Zusammenschnitt der Bestens Schilling-Songs bis dahin und der Beweis qualitativ hochwertiger Kontinuität. Major Tom war der geniale Einstieg in eine mittlerweile 40 jährige Erfolgsgeschichte. Weiter so!!!

Erinnert mich ein wenig an "Wise Man", by the way einer der besten Songs deiner Karriere! Den Hype um Major Tom kann ich nachvollziehen. "Hammers on the Shore" habe ich in einer schweren Zeit rauf und runter gehört! Der Song spielt in einer ähnlichen Kategorie! Klasse!
