I love this guitar, it's so well done! My heart still belongs to that hollow body fanned fret explorer as my favorite build you've done though. Can't wait too see what's next!
After watching this i realised live is not about the things done to the world by others, but about the things we make and do. Ive been depressed for the past 2 months now, lost my dog qnd a good friend, and from watching this build multiple times im making my own guitar and getting better in my head. Thanks soo much Ben for all the great things you make and say, you could say you and the comunity you created saved my live. Thanks!
When I watch something as beautiful as this being built, I like to think that in 100 years or so that there will be a restoration video on future RUclips like there are restoration videos today. The only difference being is that the future folk will get to watch the original craftsman building it too. Awesome work, Ben. Also, if there is any future folk actually watching reading/watching.. your great grandmom! 😁
At the risk of sounding like a nerd, watching your videos are very relaxing for me, the craftsmanship is just amazing … Can’t play any type of musical instrument just enjoy watching everything come together.
Hey Scott, thank you for this. In my mind I am mostly 'just' a teacher, the fact that people watch with no intention to actually build a guitar is actually far more of a compliment! Thank you!
The guitar is absolutely stunning! It is so much fun watching you build and problem solve. That said, the demo sounds quite out of tune. Either that, or the guitar does not intonate well, but I guess with that floating bridge design it would not be a problem to fix it. Looking at it again, the bridge actually looks like you compensated it with a wound G string in mind, but in the demo it is strung with a plain G, so maybe that is the problem?
I don't work with wood; I work with metal, but there is some crossover in handskills. Knowing what I know about my trade I can say that your handskills are truly incredible.
Ben to call you an artist is an understatement. Everyone has a gift handed down to them by God. Most people don’t find it. You obviously have and you have honed it. Exquisite piece. You keep making videos and I’ll keep watching. Stay blessed!!!
I’ve watched your videos for like 2 years now Ben. Never commented on any RUclips vid de gore but I’ve left it more than long enough now to say what a pleasure it is to watch you work. A true artist and craftsman with a love for the vintage way of doing things. The surface, colour and finish of the nebula 2.0 is one of the most stunning things I’ve ever seen. I would call it a masterpiece. It’s been so good watching your channel, your business and yourself grow over the last couple of years and I just hope you do mentoring for some keen, appreciative apprentices because craftsmen like yourself, at least in my own personal experience are hard to come by. Not got a man crush of any sort btw haha, just a woodsman myself and love your love of the craft as well as your awesome talent 👍🏻
This guitar is a piece of art! I would wear white cotton gloves and a white tuxedo to play it! I would like to see Ben go nuts on an electric with opulent ornaments. With inlays of different materials, binding out of unusual materials, engraved everything (tuner, bridge, jackplate, even special screws…), using opals, minerals, silver and gold and even diamonds, the scratchplate with breakthroughs, little carvings here and there, hidden features (f. ex. a little „drawer“ with adjustment tools, Salvador Dali refference)… Like a monumental instrument for display. Could fill a whole year with 30-40 episodes. (Maybe I‘m just crazy… 🤭)
The little router plane may not be the prettiest tool in existence, but it's definitely pretty enough... And there's something special about making your own tools for a specific job. I have a brass scraper/chisel I made specifically for removing excess epoxy from finished knife blades (I'm a knifemaker) with tiger maple handles and mosaic pins. It's a lot prettier than it needs to be to do the job, but it puts a smile on my face every time I use it...
Some friendly critical advice, Ben: That’s the most beautiful acoustic guitar I’ve ever seen. So take that on board and let’s move on together. Cheers :)
Another amazing build, thanks for sharing! Hard to know which took longer, building the guitar or the editing for such a long video filming it being made XD I love when you whip out a tool I've never seen, like the giant "spatula saw" :D
what I like about Ben's custom guitars is, it's like watching a custom chopper being built, but where the chopper is hard to ride and noisy as hell; like a custom chopper, Ben's guitars are beautiful to look at, but they are 110% functional.
I forgot how absolutely everything on this guitar is beautiful 🤩 my favorite build and please … keep delaying deadlines if it’s for creativity and beauty 🙏🏻
A madd genius. Talented beyond belief. Master Craftsman. With such a dry whit about him. Waiting to view the next project. My only wish is tobe the care taker of this creation.
Would LOVE to have a step by step on the finishing process from initial staining to lacquer, including colors. I am doing a father/son build as we speak for my son who is studying astrophysics. This finish would just blow him away!!!
It's always good to see a full build in one go and marvel once more at the refinements, care and original design ideas that go into Ben's builds. But the sound wasn't up to the usual standard- very low level for some reason and much quieter than the ads. Otherwise, a great job of the editing!
I felt that was because the demo was really just showcasing it's acoustic abilities without showing off what it can do with some gain and distortion tossed at it. Could be wrong.
good point, new editor with a different rig and I didn't think to check the actual volume levels across videos. thanks for the headsup though! And I will tell Bear you liked the edit, I am very excited to be working with him on super edits and some other one off build videos..
It’s impressive, beautiful. Your care with the whole fabrication process is amazing. Congrats!! And I’m just wondering… this wood is so beautiful… how whould it be just varnished!
I'll be damn, this build was an absolute blast dude! I thought to myself you should name this guitar something cosmic, since it really looks like a nebula, and then I saw it is actually Nebula 2.0. Nice!
For dot inlays and other fiddly cylindrical bits and bobs, you should have a look for locksmith's pinning tweezers. You'll find them indispensable once you convert.
Welcome aboard! And you should see me fumbling around when I am out of my element.. a destroyed a chunk of wood trying a long rip cut by hand the other day, looked like I had never held a tool in my life lol!
With respect, this version of the Nebula 2 guitar appeals far more to me than the series with all the episodes. Granted you used aspects of an acoustic guitar build this time, but generally you use so many forms of the same techniques on all of your custom guitars - and I don’t need to have such things as the “masking tape & super glue trick” explained to me each time. If you put a play list link in the notes pointing to the various full videos then surely that’s perfect and I can zap across to look more closely if I need to. But fact remains, this is a wonderful instrument (except for the string pins for the ball ends because, surely they’re going to snag badly.
