Hi, just a friendly Japanese person here to explain what each commercial is advertising and (to a limited extent) what’s going on in it. 0:02 - Ad for carbonated vitamin drink. A kid in PE class has nobody to pair up with, so he duplicates himself. 0:17 - Ad for a manga rental service. The manga shown on screen is about an age gap relationship between a 44 y/o man and a woman who is 15 years younger. 0:33 - Ad for instant yakisoba noodles that features the VTuber Kaguya Luna, who is known for her hyper-energetic personality. 1:04 - McDonalds happy meals that come with plastic Mario toys. 1:18 - Ad for small chocolate flavored pies. 1:35 - It’s an ad for an investment service for gold, oil, etc. The service is available at most hours of the day, just like a convenience store. 2:04 - Ad for a mobile game that features characters from My Hero Academia (anime) for a limited amount of time. 2:20 - Another mobile game (with anime girls with swords, apparently). 2:34 - Ad for an unlimited mobile 4G plan. The videos are buffering because his data ran out. 3:05 - Ad for a car. Daihatsu often targets their cars specifically for young women. 3:21 - Another ad for instant yakisoba (salt flavor with extra mayonnaise). The man is addicted to noodles and people are wondering why he never gets tired of it. 3:36 - Cocktail commercial depicting a hard-working salaryman unwinding at the end of the day. 4:07 - Ad for strong carbonated soda. 4:22 - Ad for Pokemon Go. 4:38 - Ad for a pachinko (arcade-game style gambling) company. The yellow guy is its mascot. Rather than focusing on the gambling aspect, the commercial attempts to highlight how much it is contributing to the city’s economy. 5:07 - Ad for a lemon cocktail that’s also a parody of American sitcoms. The cocktail improves the married couple’s (otherwise not-so-great) relationship. 5:23 - Ad for an instant curry meal that's also mapo doufu(popular Chinese meal) flavor. The word “diversity” is thrown in because the product is necessarily a fusion between Chinese and Indian food. 5:38 - Another carbonated vitamin drink. A guy gets approval from his attractive female boss right after drinking it. 6:04 - Ad for toilet cleaner. Boss offers tea/coffee to a girl at his office but instead of a drink it’s toilet cleaner and then they clean the toilet together. 6:19 - Maccha-flavored Haagen-Dazs ice cream. 6:35 - Aloe-flavored yoghurt commercial depicting weight loss/beauty trends across generations because it’s their 25th anniversary. 7:05 - McDonalds ad where you can double the patty for ¥100 after 5PM. 7:20 - Ad for a mobile game. The band vocalists are screaming about the fact that it’s their one year anniversary. 7:38 - Ad for Mario Maker 2. 8:07 - Ad for Ghana chocolate. 8:22 - Ad for Mouse, an online shopping site for computers made in Japan. 8:37 - Insect repellant for rice. Its main ingredient is chili pepper. 9:07 - Website for part-time jobs. 9:21 - Ad for potato snack. The kid in potato costume is struggling to say his line. 9:38 - Ad for convenience store frappe drink. The dance moves are "instructions" on how to buy/drink it. I think that’s about it. If there’s anything I missed let me know and I will add!
3:06 I presume this is a Daihatsu keijidōsha aimed at Japanese Anglophiles. For an accurate British scene, she wouldn’t be so stylish and cheerful, the band would be asking her for spare change, and the car would have a parking ticket. Also, it would be raining its arse off.
Ok, so the cm at 5:07 with mannequins is a reference to "Vermilion pleasure night". A weird as hell Japanese sketch. In it there was this family of foreigners (mom, dad, son) who moved to Japan. All played by these exact mannequins. Warning, this show is dangerous for your mental health, watch at your own risk. Just search on YT. BTW some of you may be familiar with "one point english" - the "Come on Toshi! Come on!" That is also from Vermilion.
swear i wouldnt have any money if i lived in Japan, 90% of these ads are convincing. Like, im willfully watching them on youtube thousands of miles from that country late at night.
9:52 Chi-zu cake…hmm, what is chi-zu I wonder… *Googles* …OH CHEESE, CHEESECAKE, OF COURSE. It’s obvious if you say it out loud. In my defence, that advert is batshit crazy, even for Japan.
Am I the only one who thinks the ads from the 1980s to about 2010 are much better than today's ads? Nothing tops those ads. Those ads made you want the damn product, even if it was completely not what you like!
@@arx117 Yeah,no I was just wondering why they chose him to advertise their product. It seems like they just went with the most famous artist they could afford. It doesn't bring anything to the ad.
Anyone else remember the “a winter fairy’s melting a snowman” docomo cell phone cm from back in 2011 I’m pretty sure the lady from the car commercial speaking English was in that one I can’t remember her name but I like her music.

Did this person pick out the weirdest commercials, or are they all like this over there?
The hardest part is guessing what these are advertising
Well Family Mart and CBD are 7-Eleven competitors
It's because you're guessing and not trying to understand the language ya ignorant fuck
Kodak Yellow nice troll attempt bro
@@TheNBAFreak imagine thinking that its not because of your lack of Japanese for not being able to understand Japanese advertisements.

A new Mouse ad :D
I remember not liking tv in general when I was in Japan. The commercials however, made it bearable.

Any examples to back up your statement or just every piece of advertising was better? And where are you from? Your country might just be an exception.

Anyone else notice Kaguya Luna was singing Maximum the Hormone?
Which song was it? I'm having a hard time placing it, but it's been a good while since I've listened to them.
I was too busy looking at the visuals
These videos seriously need translations for a lot of it to make any sense.
For some reason I can't stop watching Mouse commercials now...
4:36 why does this mascot look like Pacman and sound like O from puyo puyo tetris.... hmmmm
