Live in Indianapolis born and raised moved in the 80s when the east side collapsed. Washington street used to be the better side of town. I’m not worried about drug addicts or adults. I’m worried about the violent kids
They've been abandoned since 2006...We still use the courts...This place raised Me...We don’t need Your insight tourist...We understand it's fucked up. It was a vibrant community until they wanted their land back for the 20yr urban renewal project...taxes on vacant lots are way cheaper
I lived on the east side in the 80s thats when Indiana was good place to live neighbors was like family and it was safe now it's like no one cares at all
I bet that property and the gray set of apartments next to them are probably owned by someone out of town. If these properties were renovated it could help with the housing issue we have in the city.
I lived there in the mid 90s as well. I lived in the first set of apartments in this video. They were called lamplighter Apartments, 5074 Roselawn Ave. I forget my apartment number. It was my first apartment. My rent was $275 a month. The second set of apartments in this video is where I worked for a short time, cleaning the apartments when people moved out. This video brought back so many memories.
Those apartments were shutdown after a young girl was killed in a crossfire. The police didn't do anything about the rival gangs until the girl died. Correction no one did anything until she lost her life.
39thEmerson just think my parents lived right over there by both of them apartment buildings we use to live in that house he showed which looked way better than that years ago this is so sad and my dad goes to that church as well that's sad the city doesn't care about knocking them buildings down it just makes it looks bad for the people who do live on the street sad, sad, sad😢

Yes, the kids are horrible
It's sad that Mayor Hogsett hasn't done anything with this.

How disgusting. Looks like nature is reclaiming the complex. Nice video, but it would be nice to know where in the city you're at.
Around emerson and 38th on the east side...

A group known as the Ghetto Boys were to blame and were sent to Federal Prison. I can't remember the name of the rival group.
