PJ disspapoints but after reading comments I regain my faith in animefans. Your Name is truly a masterpiece and if you don't believe it you probably lack of something which is understandble.
His take is pretty valid tho, emotionally that film isn't that powerful, interpersonal character dynamics between the two main leads wasn't well developed. Even the director miyazaki had the same opinion about it. It's good points were, interesting plotline, bgm and animation for sure. It's a solid 6-8 / 10. But not 10.

Its fine different people have different opinions. I agree PJ's points have a meaningful root, but yah, for me Your Name is actually a masterpiece, no matter what happens. Its romantic subtext is far better than most of the romance shows that we can list. The animation, soundtracks, storyline, visuals and mainly the characters, everything is just to mesmerizing. It was the first anime movie that I watched, and that was an emotional roller-coaster for me, the ending surprisingly gave me tears. And there are many beautiful moments, such as 'Katawaredoki' + Sparkle song, it was just unforgetable.....

I felt it achieved everything it needed to, and there is so much I love about this film that I wouldn't change a single thing about it.

Accidentally downloaded your name once and watched it on a day when internet wasn't good. Just randomly thought i could kill some time watching it. Best decision of my life to watch something. To me it is my favorite movie and a masterpiece. I still feel this emotion whenever I remember anything about this movie and probably will still continue on feeling this. This is a movie that once you've watched it you will remember it for the rest of your life.

As a first anime movie I've ever watched it's a masterpiece for me. The beauty of the Japanese culture and rituals and it's importance still gives me goosebumps whenever I think of this movie and that's what gave me an interest in anime. I guess you missed this. Your name creates a certain magic even with its absurd fantasy drama.. it was my instant favorite Anime and I would say, a movie that made me wanna explore cinema and Anime more.. it was, is and will always be a masterpiece to me atleast.. the perfect twist at the intermission we never expected, the journey Taki goes through while it was told us that, and supposed to be Mitsuha's journey because she states she wanna be boy.. this shows the setting up of connections between your characters in a magical cinematic way and how to blend them perfectly... the happy ending that we were all waiting for, in the end, we do feel it's all worth it.. I would even say, once in a lifetime experience... surely the pace in the beginning is something can make some people feel bored but it's obvious that, you're just getting introduced to these normal characters who are living their normal lives.. now, when certain events take place.. you come to see the difference in them, before and after events.. if this is not masterpiece, I don't know what will be.. and I haven't even included the visual treat it serves.. so yeah, these are my thoughts.. Thank you for reading till the end :)

This was my first ever anime and after that I have not looked back ... Now Vinland and aot are my favourite❤
Vinland saga is slow and boring with season 1 not leading anywhere. The Antagonist is a stubborn dumb child. And a character comes which is a coward and after a while suddenly he is the smartest character. No character development, just overhyping a mid anime.

The storytelling is the issue bro. It's weak on that department. Emotionally underwhelming and not well development interpersonal character dynamics. Also before bashing on me, would appreciate if you check the director of this film, Miyazaki's view about this films. Even he confirms it wasn't perfect at all and wasn't his best work at all.

Masterpiece my ass. Storytelling is all over the place as well as its pacing through out the entire movie. The things keeping the story intact are the visuals, few key moments and the heart put into it. Its definitely not a masterpiece, but surely a honest work with the heart...

Overhyped movie, it is good but I felt no connection with the characters. The animation was a big deal. A dumb story with no proper conclusion.

'Your name' creates an environment of eternal love , nothing of this scale i ever experienced . The crafting of the story along with song and the animation of places was just absolute beauty , the story was strong enough that could really pierce your heart (and it does) . Last but most important the emotional connection that the people feel even while reading subs . if a viewer is appriciating each subtle aspect of the film , i its an absolute win for the both the film maker and the viewer.
