I've just stumbled into what's now a 45 minute yt binge. I collect antiques, and I especially love antique and vintage glass and crystal pieces. I have a ton of iridescent, awesome glass, and many other old and odd things I've had a great deal of trouble identifying... But these videos will certainly be useful before my next trip to the thrift store!:)

@@DrLoriV I would love for him to watch the video to settle this dispute, but he hates antiques. He would rather watch paint peel than to watch an informative video about antiques, lol. He thinks antiques are a waste of HIS money. But I buy them with his money as an investment in case one day we get divorced. If that happens hopefully my antiques will be at their 50th or 100th anniversary for maximum return as part of my alimony- ha ha.

Since watching Dr Lori's videos I am hesitant to buy pieces that are chipped except when the intention is only for display in decor. You can create a nice corner with a chipped piece if you turn the chip to face the wall. In most cases I don't buy if it is chipped thanks to Dr Lori. I fell in love with 2 Delft pieces, but it had fine cracks in the glaze so I did not purchace it. What a shame. Hoping this is not the norm for Delft, since I hope to still purchase some. Dr. Lori, you made me laugh at what guys do to store various items in a piece of glass. I had an inexpensive glass piece that I had momentarily placed on the top of a chest of drawers. I didn't have a place picked out for it yet. Well, hubby started putting all the odds and ends of things he would find cleaning cars and it became his place for all of those things. I had him clean off the top of the chest of drawers and so he removed his junk. That glass piece was SO damaged from what he used it for. I figured it was damaged like that very early on when he first started using it, and so I never said anything. My hubby is a guy who will put his junk in anything standing still long enough for him to do so. Now, he's using some inexpensive milk glass vases (large ones) to put his pennies, etc., in. I actually don't care about the vases he's using. Even today I can pick them up cheap if I wanted to. However, I am going to make sure he knows NOT to put anything in some of the more valuable glass that I have. Just about anything will damage glass. My hubby provided me with proof of that, lol! All of that said, now I have to remove all of his little junk away from some in-expensive items I am trying to display right inside the side door of the house. That whole shelf has more junk then I have anything I'm displaying for decor. Many times when I tell him to remove it, he complains and points out that I have things on the shelf too. That is going to be almost hopeless unless I find an empty basket for him to throw his junk into (that would include oil, masking tape, tools, etc.,). You get the idea, lol!

Dr.Lori I'm not sure if you've noticed, but a lot of younger people really don't care about antiques. As a senior living in a house full of glass it's going to be a real pity when my wife and I pass and century old goods get tossed because they are too time consuming to dust.

Sorry Dan, but I have to respectfully disagree. I meet young people all the time at my events and during my video calls who are buying old items and antiques. I have articles on my website too showing some of the finds they have bought.

I'm sorry Rachel, we do our best as there are other things happening at times in the convention hall during my program. It was such a good find that we felt we should try to keep it in the video.

A lot of people. My values are based on where I have seen people buy pieces at those prices. You have to know the markets.
