I've traveled to Czech republic many times to Karlsbad and Marienbad. I've purchased many Bohemian Crystal there and love the beer, food, culture and scenery. This was a well made, educational video.
This is why every time I see glass work in consignment shops I die a little inside because they are all a work of art. I can't stop collecting beautiful pieces of glass to create my own curtain. It's lavish and I've been buying pieces throughout my life and I hope to pass it down to my brother's child since I don't have a child myself.
"This has been a most inspiring Video, to witness the amount of sheer effort and patience that skilled Artisans put into making ornate crystal Glasses, Vases, Chandeliers really does restore one's faith into mankind and their capabilities. Most amazing. The work involved with Crystal glass is much more then I had aforehand known. It is really quite mind blowing. Incredible pieces of handcrafted beauty. Was most assuredly worth watching.
Thank you for the video of this amazing process. I'm going back to Prague this year, having been there once last year and loved it, and want to see more about the glass. I do agree with a comment below about the music that is sometimes intrusive. Didn't notice the "t"s at all!
This video is perfectly good, no complaints. I love all things Czech. This narrator’s pronunciation of the letter “t” is simply bizarre, though. I’ve never heart anything like it! It’s absolutely nuts. I had to log in just to comment.
Fine video. Illuminating. The sound track was obtrusive at times... I personally would have chosen more subdued music. I would love to know how to make the gold enamel/paint.
You ever experiment on ways of removing bubbles? Loosening vacuum-effect, when pressing into molds? Maybe collander/wafer-molds? 🤷(for lampwork paperwieghts) or before drawing molten crystal out from furnace dose it with activated carbon?
Great film I am making a mainly moser glass theme museum here in ancient walled jerusalem and wish to partner with the Czech embassy here maybe we can talk and you can be involved how do we talk
Hi Michael, I found this nice video about Czech family owned glass factory, maybe you will be interested seeing this. At 18:08 outlining machine which I use and at 20:20 - about chemical polishing of all cut glass. Interesting. Hope you will like it.CheersJiri
Very beautiful work, Bohemian glass is my favorite, but I always thought Bohemian glass was lead free, because of some other minerals they used to make it....
Let it sit with wine or citrus juice for a few years. Lead leaches less and less as used. Never let anything you will consume in it for more than a few hours, and you should be fine.
Well it is and it is not. The traditional way to make the crystal glass use lead to make it. Its suited better for decorative purposes because using lead in the process of making the glass allows for more precise cuts later when finishing the look. You can still use it for food and drinks just dont let it in it for a long time. The more modern method is lead free and thus is suited better for your "every day usage" as plates, glasses etc. Both methods achieve about equal quality the only difference is the traditional way makes the more suitable for artistic usage.
I would avoid doing this, as extremes of temperature, either hot or cold, can cause crystal to shatter. When washing crystal, only hand-wash in warm (not hot) water, again avoiding extremes of temperature. Rinse in warm water, not cold. I once had a precious Waterford bowl break because I washed in hot water, and as it dried it cracked when a cold air draft hit it.
Use lead crystal for serving, but not for storing edibles. It does leach small amounts of lead over time and if you regularly eat/drink food that has been sitting days in it, the lead exposure will eventually add up enough to matter.
Can't understand how these glass houses stay in business, granted yes the glass is beautiful but how much does anybody need I cant give away a baccarat vase on eBay for 50 bucks who is buying all this?
Here I was thinking wanted to improve my diction. I think I'll lay off the t's. Ugh. That with the pitch drop at the themes of phrases.... I'm turning on closed captioning and the volume down. I can't stand it.

I bought some crystal wine glass when I was in Slovenia. I loved them but now I appreciate how they where made. Thank you so much for this video.
That was nice. Made me appreciate the work that goes into making cut crystal.

Brings a new appreciation for the work these things take.

Does the company still exist?

7:30-7:42 that's hyperbaric-chamber type stuff, on the global-level, environmental-psionics.
Air bubbles bad,
unless it's the desired "effect"..
UM ESPETÁCULO…..👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

i am so glad to see white craftsmen and women. We need to preserve European traditions, and preserve our European race!
dear do you supply these product to india
👌👌👌
Wow.
WOW
My parents had a TOM crystal chandelier, exactly like one shown. Now, I feel almost guilty for breaking it 25 years ago.
I looked up the price online, and my jaw dropped. Now, it probably costs more than a hundred times more than when Czechoslovakia was still around.
... almost. Wow you must be spoiled af
Amazing that these people don't wear eye protection.
Anyone know if you can put lead crystal glasses in the freezer?

Could the narration be more belittling to women?
It’s lead glass
Amazing!
