- Making Square chain links are easily achieved after making this simple tool.
Devising this method for making square jump rings allows me to quickly produce square chain links easily and quickly with a uniform size.
forming square jump rings from round jump rings is made easy in this video using a simple tool that I demonstrate being made.

Thanks!
thanks ever so much for that Kathy, I felt a bit awkward asking for support in this video but all advice says you should do it. I’m hoping one day I can earn enough to have a small pension working from home.
My income from add revenue is just starting to cover some of my bills which makes me really excited to think that one day I may be able to earn a small living working from home … much appreciation for you supporting my channel … all the best … Nick
As you were putting all the links together I was thinking, Ooh that would make such a cool choker necklace!
thanks for that RebelRose … nice idea, I’ve never made a choker before … cheers … Nick
Really enjoy your creative process, Nick! Thanks for sharing. I see the jewlery I own in a much different light now. Big respect!
thanks for that Liz, there’s nothing that I enjoy more as being able to figure out how to make a new design chain … N
Another genius idea Nick. I'm going on a skewer hunt.
cheers Allan, if you’re ever in Bristol Rajani Superstore is well worth a visit … N
Is channel is right up my street
Nice to hear that, there’s a lot of stuff to discover on RUclips … N
I love all your ideas Nick. You are so ‘creative’!
thanks for that Annette, glad you like them … N
Another Great job Nick.
thanks for that Bob … N
Great video! Neat idea. Thanks!
thanks for that Carmen … N
Back to the garage I go😀👍💪
Hi Ant, nice to have a garage to go to … I could live in mine … N
❤
I've never used solder paste. I'm going to try it!
hi Shaun, it’s not good for all jobs but perfect for very small items and delicate piece. it’s good for using tiny tiny amounts when needed and because it’s sticky and doesn’t need flux it’s very easy to place precisely. I tried making a separate video about it here is a link If you’re interested … ruclips.net/video/O84conQ3amI/видео.html … cheers … Nick
@@Nickscreativestuff Thank you!
❤gorgeous Nick, will you eventually sell your items, you're a clever cookie, love resourceful thinking, thanks for sharing
hi Marta, I occasionally sell some bits and bobs at market stalls but its something thats not a priority at the moment … I just love being a maker. Some videos I’ve made about making chains have earned me good money from AdSense, sometimes 10 times more than the chain is worth and I still have the chain to show for it … cheers … N
@@Nickscreativestuff makes complete sense it's a win win for sure
must be the same for you letting go of your gorgeous dog paintings … N
Great job, Nick…as usual!
Glad you enjoyed it Jan, thanks for watching … N
Hiya Nick,
Great video, again; thank you. I would still prefer it if you narrated your films, but guess what? I've posted my first video on YT, and it is silent! But then Hollywood started with silent movies, so I'm in good company. I would appreciate your feedback on the piece as an engineer and jeweller. The next video will be x stitch I used to make, just showing where I came from when I can remember how to upload it.
Wonderful tutorial on how to manufacture the tools you need. Hard and slow work, especially the square hole in the copper sheet, but needed.
Stays safe, Steve...
Hi Steve, really nice bracelet, looks good with varying sized stones. The stretched link through another link looks unusual and makes it look unique. I also like the toggle clasp something I’ve not done much of makes it look very artisan. good to post stuff for people to see … N
You make soldering look so simple. I would burn my house down trying to do that. But I’m not the best around flames and should stick to my kind of tools like my serious sewing machine that can do more than I do with it lol
thanks Kera, so many creative mediums out there to be completely absorbed by. I think I would be nervous of a sewing machine … I would end up sewing my fingers into a pair of trousers … N
I love it when you get a clever idea and teach us! I have a couple questions. 1: I always thought those skewers were hollow. But they must be solid? 2: When you rounded the wire with the drill, could it help to use the square skewer with the drill, since the metal skewer must be solid? Then cut them on a square wooden skewer? Thank you!!!
thanks for that SandiRose, I was surprised to find so many various shapes skewers … most of them were solid stainless steel.
i’ve tried lots of different ways to make square jump rings and this is the one that works best for me. when I tried wrapping thicker wire around a square mandrill I find I can’t get tight corners and consistent sizes. However there are many ways to skin a carrot you just have to find one that you are happy with … N
@@Nickscreativestuff Thank you for answering my questions. And thank you for trying everything. That way, I don't have to!! 🤣🤣 You're the best, Nick!!
you went arabic or cirque du soleil with the music!
Hi JSL, just looked them up, crazy bunch on a swinging boat. I found this music by searching “Celtic” in storyblocks licensed music database … N
Really wonderful tips, as usual. By "acid", what specifically do you use? Thanks.
Hi Neesr, there’s a few options when it comes to what’s called “pickle” some people use citric acid that is sold as a food additive. Hot vinegar and salt can be used however a bit smelly. Most people use what is called “safety pickle” a powder that is mixed with water and heated, sold by jewellery supply companies like Cooksongold.com where I get mine … N
👍👍
👍😎👍 … N
noice. a drift.
good name for it… N
😊👍😇
👍😎👍 … N
When can I buy a bracelet from you? ❤
if I was ever down and destitute I might sell some bits and bobs … N
I forgot to ask, what gauge wire are you using ?
this chain was all done with 1mm diameter sterling silver round wire … good luck with it Carmen … N
There is absolutely nothing simple about this over complicated way to make and use this "simple" tool. great videos though!
Hi Mathyou, there are many ways to skin a carrot. The only complicated bit for me is filming it and making a video … Cheers … Nick
Thank you!
