      How many kg of the pig trotter shld we buy?

    • @TheBurningKitchen
      @TheBurningKitchen  4 года назад

      I usually buy 2 trotters becos my family loves it. The good thing is after cooking , you can keep the trotter in the fridge and eat as and when you desire.

      @@TheBurningKitchen 2 trotters is 2 legs plus feet or is it like 2 pig's feet? Cause I might not have such a big pot and dun want to dilute the recipe by adding too little vinegar/meat ratio

      That would depends on how big the pig is. Our pigs are imported from Indonesia and they are usually not humongous in size compared to the Australian ones. If you prefer more meat, then the front legs wld be better. The hind legs are tougher and have less meat. So it depends on the size and your preference. really. For a start, may I suggest you just try one trotter first and if you like you can still add another trotter into the vinegar later.

Appreciate your reply soon. I chanced on your channel today and subscribed immediately!

      Barbra M Hi Barbara, wonder if you like this sour, sweet and gingery soup. But this is indeed a great appetiser n helps digestion. I must caution it’s not for those with gastritis.

    I tried yr recipe ytd for my daughter doing her confinement. Because nobody likes trotter I replaced with belly n ribs. The dish came out great but the vinegar was quite choking when drinking the soup. Is it supposed to be like this?

      Ronica Have you tried the Chinese supermarket there? I am afraid there is no substitute for this black vinegar.

    • @ronica2623
      @ronica2623 4 года назад

      The Burning Kitchen thank you for response. Yes, I have been to 4 Chinese stores in San Francisco and there are 10 or more different black vinegar in each store but don’t know which to pick. The one you recommend is only sold in Asia and no international shipping

    • @TheBurningKitchen
      @TheBurningKitchen  4 года назад

      Ronica The staff ( should ask a married lady) should know if you will to tell them the vinegar is for cooking pig's trotter for confinement ladies. There is only one type.

      The Burning Kitchen hello again. I did try the recipe and it came out quite well. I ended up using Pat Chun brand sweetened vinegar. I did not add brown sugar and still found it too sweet but my mother thought it was perfect.it was easier to make than I thought it would be. Thank you for the recipe and for the tips! Sorry I am not on FB so I cannot post a pic

      Ronica Great that your mum loved it. Good that you got the sweet vinegar instead of the sour ones. If it's too sweet, you can add a little more water.
